There is one thing people don't understand. Anyhow you wants to put it, it is the poor masses that will suffer it. When government make a policy without efficiently putting instrument in place to checkmate the negative effects on citizens, it is the masses that will feel it. This policy that has been made without any ing action will lead to increase in prices of things, and those that will suffer it are the end consumers. 1 Like |

nairalanda1: Because those economies depend on tax to fund state coffers. Nigeria depends on natural resources. Dubai even pays their citizen monthly subsidy to encourage them to work, this is different from their salary. Our NYSC is based purely on subsidy. Our education system especially public primary and secondary schools are subsidized. Even if it's not called a subsidy, there are so many schemes, agencies and programs various governments emback on to make things easy for their citizens. 1 Like |

Ogunleti01: So government is saying it cannot bring the bastards abusing the system to justice ? But rather it will ensure more Nigerians suffer to prevent the elite from stealing instead of dealing with the elite and keeping the subsidy to help the poor . All of you congratulating this move will soon see how the elite will reposition themselves to still steal from the money saved . Just wait and see it was corruption in Jonathan’s government that prevented People from allowing the removal of subsidy . Buhari’s government stole like crazy . Convicted politicians were given presidential pardons . We all know Tinubu is corrupt . So let’s see how the money saved won’t find the way into private pockets . |

egopersonified: 1.Dubai's income is greater than Nigeria's income. Dubai is part of the UAE that produces nearly 3m barrels of crude per day...for a populaiton that isn';t up to 20 million people. Nigeria has 200 million people, and produces 1.8 m barrels per day. The oil revenue we earn is not enough to fund anything like subsides or daily salary Even the education subsidy we pay is why our schools are bad. 2.If Nigeria want subsidy again, either we tax everyone at high rates, or you pray and fast that oil reaches $ 150 a barrel. |

Electorate: They don't know. I do say something, aside from the government cronies, other people these bad policies do favour are those that are against the government that made the policies. Shebi when person buy/produce/manufacture/import something, na the price wey e get am im go add im own take sell? im go even sell am with less pity. Those that have already sold their minds/souls/consciences go still buy am at that high prices whether dem like am or not. Leave dem, dem go get sense by force. |
