I don't understand how a government can tax its citizens so heavily in a country where the average income is only $48 per month.

The only achievement tied to his name is the triple multiplication of hardship. Anything that kills the poor and the masses makes him happy...

BigDawsNet: Bro, it's a complicated issue. The taxing thing is hinged on the core determinants such as fuel price which is also hinged on FX rate. The Telcos are struggling too, and to be honest, they need to breathe. What I think the govt must do in this case is to ensure that this year, the FX rate is at least stabilized. If FX rate can be pegged, there will be sustainable planning for everyone, that is businesses and the consumers. Look, if crude oil price rises tomorrow, which is likely, current pump price in Nigeria will further go up again. . And these things reflect in the profitability of these companies. If naira to USD can come down a bit (to stable at around N1,400), that's the major way to mitigate against the effect of price volatility of PMS and diesel. . Which hugely determines inflation and business costs. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

chisomkachy:If not for the fact that Nigeria is a useless country, what's the meaning of "The Association of Mobile Money & Bank Agents in Nigeria"? What are they doing exactly? Bandits, fraudsters and kidnappers transact their biz via POS and the association is just there doing nothing. I don't blame 'em anyways. Banking sector is failing and POS operators are raising shoulders. God will help this country. 13 Likes |

POS operators are one of the major problems w face in this country. After contributing in the buying and selling of our own currencies, they're looking for every opportunity to increase their charges. You pay 4% to take your own cash in Abuja. Isn't that daylight robbery? POS machines don't play videos or audio. It just displays digital options that uses a few texts to to send request to certain apis and receive JSON texts in return. Which stupid data are these stupid operators talking about? They can buy 1 GiG data and it last them the whole month. Do they think that we're all fools? 15 Likes |

The last time tariff was increased was 2013. Haba. How many Nigerian businesses can wait for so long before they increase prices of products? We should be considerate and bear with them. They spend such on diesel and other miscellaneous things. POS operators should tread sofly o. |

We should understand reasonably that the telecos cannot sustain with the current prices and thats why providers like glo and Etisalat are almost not functioning but the government needs to do something, they can increase the prices phases and not 50% at once.
