Barely eight days after being granted pardon by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, a former inmate, Sunday Omisakin, has been remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Facility for allegedly breaking into a house to steal a television.

Omisakin, who was listed as number 8 on the governor’s prerogative of mercy list signed on December 26, 2024, had been pardoned for what was described as a minor offence.

However, on January 3, 2025, he was arrested for allegedly burgling a residence in Osogbo and stealing a plasma television valued at N600,000.
The suspect was arraigned before the Osun State Magistrate Court in Osogbo, presided over by Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba, on two counts of burglary and theft.

According to police prosecutor Inspector Kayode Adeoye, “On January 3, 2025, at about 12:00 p.m. at Al-Medinat Area, Iludun, Osogbo, Omisakin broke into the house of one Shittu Damilare and stole a plasma TV worth N600,000.”

Omisakin has been remanded pending further court proceedings.

“The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 411 (1) (2) 363, 390(9) of criminal code cap 34 vol.II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

Meanwhile, he pleaded not guilty to the offence as his counsel, Najite Okobe urged the court to it him to bail in most liberal .

The prosecutor opposed to the bail stating that “Governor just pardoned him few days ago. He was sentenced to prison by Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara and he was not done serving his jail term.”

They don't have a lagoon in Osun state. The guy shouldn't have been pardoned in the first place

After pardon I expect them to re-orientate and teach them a skill. Pay them stipends for like one year before releasing them to the society

I am shocked no one spoke about psychological therapy or spiritual deliverance for him.

This shows backward, ignorance, myopic, the Nigerian society is.

As I told some people.

Nigeria is cursed and everyone is suffering while trying to push the blame and aggression on one another.

Even common sense should tell you guys above me that there is more to it than meet the eye.

The cursed society will also carry out their generational curse by locking the guy up.

It's just a shame, this country is going down and down the drain.

You'll be surprised how this guy would flourish if he leaves Nigeria for a year.

A country where everyone is bound to fail except they leave to another country. You hear a lot of great ideas on Radio and TV but when those Men face reality, they get confused.

What a shameful and horrible story Nigeria is.

There are spirits and demons in Nigeria that makes people think and want the neighbours downfall for no significant reason and more so sensationalise the downfall.

True Christike love is lacking, even in churches.

Everyone is all Man to selfish self. It goes on and on.

You never see sincerity and Truth in the intent of what anyone is doing.

Night club locations competing with Church locations, yet the many churches don't have any significant impact on the character of the average citizen.

Even in myself, I feel these forces trying to frustrate the Good Plan that God has for me in this country.

Sincerely speaking, we need to humble ourselves and Pray and turn from our wicked ways and seek God's face, so that He'll hear from Heaven and heal our Land.

It's not surprising na.

Most law abiding people don't have jobs, ask helinues.......so where is this Yoruba boy supposed to see food to chop after eating free watery beans for years, if not to steal tv.

He sha want to go back cos there's nothing for him out there anymore.

Is this a case of:

"Yes, he stole it and we have evidence"

Or

"It must be him because he's a usually a thief and also an ex convict"?

Maybe that is the calling he chose in life.

Steal, go to prison, release, steal again and it goes on and on and on

What did you expect? You released him into an economy worse than prison and what was your expectation? At least in prison is gets 3 meals a day and somewhere to sleep without worries of house rent or feeding money. He decided to return to where things are less difficult for him than out here

This is the problem with ex-convict. They always go back to same crime, they committed before and I don't know why it's like that.

Nigerian prisons are not meant to reform criminals. They are meant to harden then more and make them worse if they ever get released.

On this,I still blame the government, no plan to integrate them into the society, what do the government wants the pardoned inmates to live on after leaving the prison?hunger is a bustard and should be prevented.

It amazes me how these guys are released without any efforts by the govt to reintegrate them back into the society. Even those outside are struggling hard to put food on the table, not to talk of a man with stigma of being an ex-con, whose face has been shown to the whole world. It was always a matter of time before he goes back to crime, only that his own was too swift.
