This is so surprising that I still can't figure out how it works as one of Nigeria pro musical analyst.

You would see favorite musicians nominated for a top category and it's glaring clear who's winning it due to its work and hit songs trending past and present.

On the D day of the event and the winner is......to someone you didn't even thought would win. Like I just don't understand, how can someone who wins a Grammy the songs are barely played in their own country just because they are streamed in the usa they carry awards to them. Is that the only criteria?

Meanwhile in Nigeria where they are from people barely even know them just one or two hit tracks, meanwhile the real popular musician is left hanging like I still don't understand.

Does this have to do with international features? Votes or nepotism. Or Is it an award made for americans alone? I would really like to know..

We really need to know. It's like a boju boju something; the more you look, the less you see. How can someone whose songs doesn't rock the airwaves, and with a single style of singing be said to be the highest Grammy award holder when there are far better and versatile artistes? Someone in the know should enlighten us on how this Grammy thing works.

The Grammy Awards can be confusing, especially when artists with fewer local hits win big. It’s not just about chart-topping songs in a specific country; the Grammys focus on a global perspective. Winners are often chosen based on votes from of the Recording Academy, which includes industry professionals from around the world. Popularity in the U.S. can help, especially with streaming numbers and international collaborations. But it’s not always about who's the most popular locally. It also factors in things like quality of work, influence, and industry recognition, making it seem like sometimes the “underdog” takes home the prize.

If you ask 50 Cent this question, he would tell you that the award is given to musicians that the establishment behind it likes. Dude despised the award after getting several nominations and winning once.

He accused Beyonce' of buying up the conscience of those behind the award. What I know for sure is that if you are a consistent singer in Beyonce's good book, you must win the Grammy.

I'm surprised too

More like the more you frolic with the west the higher your chances even if your musical presence in your home country is not that great

It's funny that the Queen of rap hasn't got any Grammy till date. It's also funny seeing Kendrick's diss track against Drake "Not Like Us" getting a Grammy. The award is becoming a joke.

With all due respect to Tems. Sensational by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay should have won that category not Tems "love me jeje" song wey no popular wey no even sweet. Look at sensational the lyrics and the dance moves. They wanted to give it to tems again that was why they allowed Chris win Best R&B Album so they will deny him the second one all targeted at Davido.

Students who study hard and are closer to their lecturers have higher chances of having a better CGPA than students who study hard and are far from their lecturers.
All these awards literally have their own standards and it's usually the smart artistes who understand these standards and tailor their music to fit in that usually win.
The popular artistes tend to sing what they feel like, what appeals to their fans, this might not necessarily be grammy-winning sounds although these same songs might gather likes on YouTube, be number 1 for weeks on billboards etc.

PS: nomination for Grammy awards is a W for these artistes on its own. At least their contributions are acknowledged

Most persons been rooting for davido.....
Proves just one thing ....That davido is truly and really loved by people....I'm not a fan to davido but this is just fact!!

For me, he doesn't even have to kill himself ....He should just keep dropping likeable songs and making his money....Besides, money making happens to be one of the backbone that ushers in comfort and fun!.....What else again does son of man needs?

wait o, so if they ask u to name an artist u will call davido? Do u know what it entails to be a great artist? As good as snoop dogg was he never go a grammy, as good as dre and 50 cent was they only got one Grammy so what does that tell you, that it’s far more than beats and voice it goes into more of the music message and impact.

Tems is so deserving of that award she merited it 200%
