Every crop is profitable, everything comes down to your management,

The stress alone is killing.
You keep applying pesticides every 3 to 4 days. Omo! I don't want that experience

Beans harvest is November
Cultivation is best carried out late August or early September.

Beans farming dosent require TOO MUCH rainfall.

I am a Farmer and I farm both white and brown Beans every Year. I must tell you this. Beans is very profitable for farmers. It is also easy to farm. Unlike Rice, Ginger etc.

Beans does not like too much rain, that's why it is farmed towards the end of the farming season. It is also pron to attack from insects due to its highly nutrients. But there are chemicals that are used to protect the Beans from insects attack.

Below is a video of my Beans farming from the planting stage to harvest stage. If you need more explanation and videos to help you in your Beans farming, coment on the video on YouTube and I'll respond to all your enquiries.

I am also a Beans farmer and I planted 2 hectare and got 3 bags of 1000kg bags after spending about 160K. If you can get a variety with less shaft, mechanized planting, weeding, boom sprayer, threshing machine, sifter and large tracts of land, you may turn a profit.

As of now, I don’t think I am doing Beans without any of the aforementioned

Bump.

Yes is profitable

Know that you'll have to spray three times before maturity

That's what alot of people get wrongly resulting to poor yield
This year I planted less than 2 custard bucket of beans and harvest 3 bags

I spent less than 50k overall from the beginning to harvest labours

I did thrashing myself

If you're going into farming on a small scale make use of your energy to avoid serious cost

You can employ labour but it shouldn't be a must because some labourer won't be able to identify issues immediately it sprout

Farming generally is worth going into because the future billionaires will definitely come from the Agric Sector grin

That 3 bags is more than what some people transport with 50% of their salary to earn for a whole year. Why not farm for three months and earn even more?

Some people earn 30k or 360k/annum.
Three bags of beans is around 600k. It took you just three month to plant and harvest it. Why not our office people plant such and earn more than their easy 360k that's never enough?

I just came across this thread and I am also planning of planting beans this year.

At OAU there is land allocated for students and I have obtained a plot of land and I decided to plant beans this year.

An experience person should enlighten me more about my decision.

Student, do not plant beans. This is not the right time to plant beans in the south.

Please what time is planting season for bean, because I have started clearing the land.

Plant cassava instead of beans, there's literally no profit in beans farming.

Late Aug.
I would hav suggested crops such as pepper, tomato, cucumber, but they require some level of experience and also involve high cost of maintenance and more attention/time which you may not not be able to afford being a student.
Since you are clearing now, you can go for cheap and easy to maintain stuff like maize and cassava. You can plant only corn 3 times b4 the year runs out or you plant maize once, midway, inter-crop with cassava.

Beans is not profitable nowadays, iam a beans farmer in Niger state but I will not farm it next year because of two reasons 1- low selling price, currently the price of 100kg bag in Niger state is less than 13k while before is 20k upward.2-the yield per hectare is very low,I planted three hectare this year but I only got 22 bags.
Lol what of now ?
