saint4belles:What country have you visited as a family? Survey document is not a hometie. A job of 300k is sadly not a good economic tie and to make it worse- you the husband and kids want to all travel. No home tie again. Eco is afraid of japa. That was all. |
saint4belles: 9:55pm On May 12 |
lol ECo is really afraid of Japa oooo and exchange rate sef add him own... we been to dubai as a family and some other african countries should i just opt out when filling the form that i am not travelling with them for the home ties or madam should Just apply alone without the kids and also increase her salary ,but this would be in the next 6 months cos i dont want to rush it. |

Maryfaith: Based on your , you were refused 3 times even though you had a sponsor As long as you're an adult and not elderly then you are expected to BE YOUR OWN sponsor. If you don't have funds for a visit then save until you do. Stop wasting money on applications and agents. Please apply again when you enough funds to show you can afford the costs plus still have money left in your |

Good afternoon. Please I need your help and advice. I posted earlier about sponsoring my husband for a trip to the UK. I already have a 2 year UK visiting visa and I have a 7 year Canadian visiting visa. I added all the visas to his application including previous visas to the UK. I provided my bank statements and employment letters with all my allowances et al in of his application. I have visited the UK thrice with no refusal. I’ve also been to Canada , the UAE and Ghana. I was really hoping for an approval but unfortunately his application was refused. We’ve been married for 13 years with 2 daughters. The kids are not going with us. They travelled with me to the UK last year August. My husband couldn’t go. I’m not very clear on the reasons they have given. He is self employed. Works as a software developer, he has his own company. He indicated his annual income as 27million and provided his bank statements, but the is that the income and the statement does not correspond. Should he have provided a full year’s statement? The second point is the address- they said it’s a different address that is stated in the bank statement- that’s our former address and we had included an internet utility bill with our current address and explained that it’s an issue from the bank’s end in the letter of . I have in the past applied with bank statements with the old address and explained. I also included my driver’s license with the current address. Unfortunately his driver’s license is being renewed so we couldn’t include it. Please what can we do. Is it worth reapplying? Should we include a full year’s bank statement? We can resolve the address issue with the bank, but I want to carefully reapply because I don’t want a string of refusals for him. I turn 40 in September and I had hoped he will be able to travel with me. I’m not having a party, I just wanted to travel with him as he has never been to the UK before. We included all possible documents, our marriage certificate, children’s both certificates, family pictures, documents evidencing our landed property, his business registration documents, visas for me and the kids’ previous travels, my bank statements with over 20k dollars and 3m. I am a lawyer with a top law firm in lagos. Apologies for the long message. I’m just quite sad.

Sorry, just to also mention that he included his corporate and personal . He had about 1.5m in his Stanbic mutual funds as savings. The corporate had a little over 100k as he uses most of the moneys for business. His personal statement was also included but with very minimal funds. His annual revenue from his business is about 25m to 27m , but most of these goes towards clients cost and living expenses which reflect in the statements. Should we get a letter from his officer to corroborate this turnover cause that appears to be the main issue ?

@tailadivaaaa You have the option to submit a Pre-Action Protocol (PAP) or an official complaint if you believe there has been an error or unfair treatment. These days it looks like there are more refusals anyway for first timers. From my perspective, I personally don’t see your husband securing a UK visa without addressing these issues: 1. Given that your husband claims an annual income of 27 million, it would be reasonable to expect that he can fund his trip independently. Currently, he has only submitted bank statements and CAC documents to his business, which may not be sufficient. It would be helpful to provide additional documentation such as tax certificates, invoices, MOUs, or other official documents that demonstrate the legitimacy and activity of his business. This could help establish that his self-employment status is genuine rather than a strategy to facilitate the visa application. The ECO may have felt that the current documents didn’t fully substantiate his claims about his income and business activities. And yes a 1 year bank statement could further prove his true financial standing. Why did you submit low bank statements also? Is it because you were sponsoring? Sadly with or without sponsor it is the applicant’s situation that matters. 2. Allow the UK visas for your children to expire before he reapplies. When you do, emphasize that your children will remain in Nigeria during the trip, which shows their strong ties to Nigeria. These children can serve as a solid indication of your family’s roots and commitments in Nigeria, which can strengthen the case that your husband will return after his visit as you and him cannot abandon your young children to go and live illegally in the UK. 3. Your husband needs to establish his own travel history. Since he currently has no significant economic ties to Nigeria—possibly because his financial profile may have been inflated for the purpose of this visa application—it's important to show that he has traveled elsewhere before, and that he has not overstayed visas in other countries. Demonstrating a consistent travel record and proof that he can sponsor other journeys without overstaying can help build trust that he will adhere to the of his visa this time as well. Your travel and immigration history can not be given to him. 4. Sorry about the refusal. 5. In the UK they take addresses on bank statements very seriously as a bank statement is also used here as one of the proof of addresses. In the past when I was applying for visit visas these were never picked upon but it looks like things have changed. A few days ago another refusal for different address on bank statements was on this thread. Looks like it is a new thing. |

giselle237: Thank you very much. I really appreciate your responses. I understand (1) very well. We will fix this. He should probably save up more. I had thought my bank statements would be able to show we had enough funds. Please how much is a minimum should he have to reapply? He had 1.5m in his mutual funds. On (2) my kids visas have expired since January. I didn’t want to stress myself with too many applications, that’s why I didn’t bother with reapplying for them- also wanted to use them to prove home ties. (3) I agree with you totally. He probably needs to travel alone for at least two trips self - funded. We will work on this. (4) Thank you for your empathy. We are both pained. But we will work on fixing it and try again. We may have to go somewhere else for this birthday while I go to the UK on my own.🥹 Once again, I appreciate your response. (5)Yes, I agree. In the past, I have used my bank statements with old addresses without issues for visa applications, but I saw recently that somebody was refused because of that recently. I guess they are now stricter. We will go back and fix it all. |

Goodday gurus. I am a self employed trader . I applied for a visit visa in 2023 but was rejected with the ECO stating that the information that I provided does not demonstrate the annual financial position of my business or the level of annual income stated... Now, i want to reapply next year but i want to get the best advice so i can have a better application First of all, is my business YEARLY income referring to net profit or entire turnover ? Im asking because during my last application which was rejected , i stated 18m (which was net profit for the previous year) but currently my turnover for 2024 was over 600m and net profit of 120m and this year i expect it to be slightly higher. If i put such figures , i am afraid it may seem i am trying to package my application . Should I reduce it to something more believable ? I don't have much of suppliers invoice as i get most of my goods from my chinese supplier and the whole transaction is done on Wechat and WhatsApp . Which other way can i prove my income How do i convince the ECO that my business is earning that amount as i don't pay tax (and honestly not willing to pay 40m as tax to Nigerian govt just cos of visa) Or do all self employed submit tax clearance certificates before they are issued a visa? How else do i demonstrate that? I had submitted 5 months corporate bank statement , CAC certificate (it was active). I also pay myself a salary of 1m (i can always adjust this based on your advice, i am CEO lol), and it will be reflected in my bank statement . I also plan to deposit upto 8m in piggyvest to show as my SAVINGS. Im also worried about the amount to state thst I'm willing to spend on my trip before ECO will soon start saying that it is 6x my monthly income and decline my application again. Your suggesstions are highly welcome Cc giselle237 cashmadam et al |

giselle237: The koko is they hardly want husband and wife or family into the country on visitors visa ,cos most are doing that and eventually seeking asylum ... Its either Husband goes alone or wife travel alone with the kids ,cos even if you have huge funds from salary/work , they would still complain of home ties . |
Abbebbay: 3:21pm On May 13 |
Thank you ,I have done that and it still not going through ,it rings in engaging tone twice and cut off itself ... saint4belles: |
Tailadivaaaa: 3:32pm On May 13 |
saint4belles: I actually thought of this, because some parts of the refusal don’t really make sense. He will go alone next time and come back. We don’t have any plans to japa. Nigeria must work. 😀We just want to see the world and come back. Thank you again. |
saint4belles: 3:32pm On May 13 |
codernoni: if you want to use your company paying you salary , get ready to submit your tax as well and company must be active, also you must declare your annual returns if u get 1m per money and you spend 200k per month out of it , they would be calculating 800k x 3 with is 2.4m ( thats the amount you can spend on your trip for 2 weeks they don care about huge funds in . after all that done , are you married , do you have kids ,cos all that would also count as home ties apart from your or properties cos they even hardly care about properties this days since documents can be done . |

@codernoni apply for a Schenghen visa if you are not ready to be overly scrutinised for a visitor visa. No UK ECO is going to believe that with these huge figures you claim as your financial standing(600million)… you have no travel history to a first world nation. Suspicious profile.
|
codernoni: 4:55pm On May 13 |
giselle237:It really looks suspicious and that is why I came here for advice. Are you implying Schengen will not scrutinize my application ? Speaking of travel to a first worl country , that is what I'm trying to do by going to the UK. I chose UK as i have relatives there so accommodation and flexing would be sorted . saint4belles:Ok |

codernoni Put in the work. They don’t just feel anyone can wake up and just decide to come to UK .lol but this is the reality. Secondly it is tougher for self employed applicants… do not underestimate the quickness of the refusals for self employment because it means you can afford to stay and live illegally back in UK whilst running the business from there amongst other things…. Good day everyone, I’m kindly seeking advice on how to go about applying for a UK visa for my sister’s daughter, who is 16 years old. She currently lives with my mother in Nigeria. My wife and I live in the UK on a sponsorship visa, and we have two young children — a 7-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son. My mother visited us last year in October and stayed for five months before returning to Nigeria earlier this year. We’re now hoping to bring my niece over to live with us temporarily to help care for the children and the family. She is currently writing her WAEC exams this month, which means she is finishing high school and will be free afterwards. I’m unsure of the best way to approach her visa application. Can I apply for her to visit the UK along with my mother, stating that they are both coming for a short visit? Since my mother has previously been granted a visa and complied with all conditions, I’m hoping that might improve my niece’s chances. My main concern is her age — being just 16, I’m worried the visa might be refused, and I want to avoid a refusal on her record. When my mother applied previously, my wife and I provided an invitation letter, but she used her own bank statement to show proof of funds, which was sufficient. Also, my niece and my mother share the same surname. Would it help the application if my mother presents her as her daughter rather than granddaughter? Any advice, suggestions, or insights from those with experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! |

Abbebbay: Do paid email bro. I collected my port this morning. I would advise you to visit VFS |

@oladapojoe abort mission. Your mom can return in another 5 to 6 months to the UK to help care for your children and your family.

Please how do we get back a port after a refusal note? Do we wait for another email from VFS on when we can pick up? Thank you in advance. P.S A refusal is so painful though. My husband is “chesting” it but I can see he is pained. Even I am. Any tips to get over it, please 🙂 |

Hello people, I just applied for Visitors Visa for my mother, the application is still with HMRC. The problem is that in the application I wrote that she will spend one month in UK, My questions: 1. is it possible for her to spend more than one month in UK? 2. Is there anything I can do right now to extend the one month I wrote on the application? Thanks for your opinion. |

Just go there tomorrow with your biometric confirmation and any means of identification. Abbebbay: |

codernoni: Get ready for more scrutiny. With 120M as profit, I expect the CEO to earn more than N1M monthly... 600M is your turnover so get ready to provide documents to that claim. Also, you are expected to pay tax so I don't know how you want to manage that... At this rate, you should start building your travel history with a Schengen visa. Slightly easier than UK visa. You can even try US as they don't even ask for or look at any document you present. You might just get the visa. US visa is a good start. If not Schengen. UK will scrutinize very single document and every single claim you make. From what you have stated, I'm not sure you should apply for a UK visa now. Start paying yourself like 2.5 to 3M monthly. Keep your monthly expenses at a minimum. Build your over 6 months and get your tax stuff sorted. Then, you can apply maybe in Q4 or earlier next year. If you can, travel this year. It will help. Good luck! 2 Likes |
