The t issions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has formally itted responsibility for the widespread failure recorded in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), News360 Nigeria reports.

At an emotional press conference on Wednesday, the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, fought back tears while acknowledging the disappointing situation that trailed this year’s examination.

Prof. Oloyede announced that about 379,997 candidates would be given the opportunity to retake the examination following numerous complaints of technical issues, unusually low scores, and alleged irregularities reported during the UTME exercise.

Visibly moved, the registrar intermittently wiped his face with a handkerchief as he expressed regret over the development, taking full responsibility for the negligence of some staff .

He disclosed that candidates who sat for the exam in 65 centres across Lagos and 92 centres in the Owerri Zone, which covers the five South-East states, would be required to retake the test.

This move comes after weeks of public outcry from candidates and parents over irregular scores and glitches, which prompted calls for an investigation and corrective measures by the examination body.

They said over 1.5m got below 200 and jamb approved just 300+ to resit for the exam?

This simple means only those affected by glitches and computer errors can resit for the exam, others should take their scores and prepare for next year jamb.

The senate should make JAMB results valid for 5 years

This is mental toiling on the candidates. Did they use AI to both set and mark the questions?

Let them present the marking scheme and report sheet of each of these students.

Let us also that Jesus Christ is the only Way Truth and the Life

An error of a Jamb head who studied Islamic studies and you expect him to do well with data and ICT Why not cancel the whole zones affected by the error and call for a resit may be in July? Everything under this Tinubu is going wrongly

What's the criteria for just 300k + to retake the examination when the issues were widespread?
This same imbe fixed examination to start by 6am(accreditation is part and parcel of the exam process),when he should know many CBT centres are several kilometres away from residences of candidates and the appalling security situation in the country.
The only honor he should render is his resignation, that is what self acclaimed righteous people do.
His crocodile tears are for show!

JAMB has done well by ordering a re-sit for the affected candidates. We still believe in JAMB.

The clamoring really helped. Rest in peace to the dead that committed suicide just because they failed and never waited to see how it will last. Patience pays
