Out of the 371 tribes you claim are in Nigeria, Davido said he came from the Igbo tribe as his mother happens to come from Anambra state and that was when the razz lecturer ed that her children must marry only Yoruba, what does that mean? It's a direct attack on the tribe Davido identified with, stop pretending or twisting facts.

You know why she said that but as usual, you guys are very good at pretence and treachery.

And listen, she making sure her children marry only Yoruba is her choice but coming online on a post where a famous music star identified with his mother's tribe to say such thing makes that woman a very despicable human being, it was an obvious attack on Igbo tribe Davido identified with, so whatever criticisms she got she fully deserved it

My thoughts exactly.

Most of ny people behave shamelessly.

Yoruba Group Decries ‘Ethnic Harassment’ Of LASU Lecturer Over Facebook Marriage Post, Alleges South-East Domineering Agenda
Yoruba Group Decries ‘Ethnic Harassment’ Of LASU Lecturer Over Facebook Marriage Post, Alleges South-East Domineering Agenda

June 1, 2025

The controversy began on Wednesday, May 21, when Dr. Olarinmoye reacted to Afrobeat singer Davido’s comments about his Igbo ancestry by writing on her Facebook page: "I would ensure my kids marry Yoruba."

Aprominent Yoruba socio-cultural group, Igbimo Omo Yoruba, has raised alarm over what it described as a disturbing wave of ethnic intolerance and cyberbullying targeting Dr. Adeyinka Olarinmoye, a lecturer at Lagos State University (LASU), following her Facebook post expressing a preference for her children to marry within the Yoruba ethnic group.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its convener, Adedamola Adetayo, the group condemned the online attacks against Dr. Olarinmoye—popularly known as Iyalode Adeyinka Bello—accusing a “new generation of Ibo people” of orchestrating what it called a “coordinated campaign of ethnic harassment and media mobbing.”

The controversy began on Wednesday, May 21, when Dr. Olarinmoye reacted to Afrobeat singer Davido’s comments about his Igbo ancestry by writing on her Facebook page: "I would ensure my kids marry Yoruba."

While her ers described the statement as innocuous, critics online swiftly accused her of ethnic bias.

According to Igbimo Omo Yoruba, the backlash intensified when her words were allegedly misrepresented as: "An Ibo man marrying my daughters cannot happen at all."

The group claimed this distortion fuelled an online smear campaign marked by insults, threats, and attempts to damage her professional reputation.

“These attacks are not only unjust but deeply calculated to emotionally and psychologically damage Dr. Olarinmoye,” Adetayo stated.

“We will rise to defend her rights and by extension, the rights of all Yoruba people to freely express themselves.”

The group further alleged that the smear campaign was politically motivated, linking it to Dr. Olarinmoye’s past criticism of the Obidient Movement and her for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
It claimed the attacks were orchestrated by individuals sympathetic to the Labour Party and its presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi.

Igbimo Omo Yoruba also made broader accusations, alleging an ongoing “Zionist agenda” by unnamed Igbo individuals to politically and culturally dominate Lagos and other parts of Yorubaland.

It warned that continued provocation would not be tolerated, promising a “swift and far-reaching” response if any harm came to Dr. Olarinmoye or other Yoruba citizens.

The group called on Yoruba state governments and traditional leaders to take proactive measures to protect their people from cyber harassment and what they described as “cultural encroachment.”

Dr. Olarinmoye, who has reported the matter to security agencies, has yet to make a public statement since the incident went viral.

Cyberbullying and the manipulation of online narratives remain major concerns in Nigeria’s digital space, especially as ethnic and political tensions continue to flare in the aftermath of recent national elections.Nigerian cultural tours

Under Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, cyberstalking and online harassment are criminal offences punishable under Nigerian law.

I love how Yoruba always come together to defend evil done by their fellow yoruba

If it were an Igbo who made those type of post, you will see fellow Igbo attacking that person
We need to learn bigotry and tribalism from Yoruba,it comes to them naturally

We can see how they always come all out to defend Tinubu even when they know he is incompetent

Wole Soyinka who has always been very active in criticizing Presidents outside his tribe is suddenly a sucker for 30km of 750km proposed coastal road(4% of the total road)

No wonder Davido married an Igbo girl. The Igbo blood in Davido is reason why he's so open minded and bold.

It is evil for a Yoruba to say he will encourage his children to marry Yoruba?
How is this anything to do with you?

"If it were an Igbo who made those type of post, you will see fellow Igbo attacking that person"

Just like you did when Uju Anya tweeted a despicable statement following the death of queen Elizabeth?

Difference between Igbo tribalism and yoruba tribalism is this:

In the East, tribalism which is not a frequent occurrence usually comes from the youths/teenagers. This is 100%excusable, maybe youthful exuberance or lack of understanding.

In yoruba land, tribalism comes from youths and elders equally, the rich, the poor, the elites, the vastly uneducated masses. When you see a Facebook post battle between Igbos and yoruba, just gently start observing the people commenting. Take note of their ages and you will end up shaking ur head in disappointment for the yoruba..

The DSS need to up their game.. let them fish all those harassing the woman out before Yorubas will start taking law into their hands.
This is serious threat and danger rearing its head right under our nostrils. The mistakes of older generation Yorubas must not be repeated again.
Everyone should know their boundaries.

A harmless statement that her kids will marry Yoruba shouldn't be a threat to any alien except they have hidden agenda for Yorubaland and her people.
Have you ever thought that many yorubas are residing in ibo land? So yorubas should take laws into their hands By attacking ibo people? Una like fight fa, but if we retaliate, anything una see, Mae una take am

You and all your people defending lies should ask yourselves what brought about her "independent" comment.

The lecturer called for what is happening to her... Sh knows the trend if the Davido topic is about a fan frowning at davido for marrying and association with igbos... So davido shut the fan up by saying he is Igbo by blood..

Now this woman reed the argument and now claim it's an innocent statement.. see, u dnt go to the north and do religious argument in the public garage.. if u are christian except u want to die...

Sh know the atmosphere is already tensed and waded in in condemnation big davido... ND still expecting those ing davido to keep quiet .. abeg sh deserve and called for what sh got
Instead of you to be calling out people threatening others because they aired their opinion, you're ing the people threatening her... Okay nah

Nah you dey beat your chest nah. What can Igbos do? How many Yorubas dey the south east compared to Igbos in the south west?

We shouldn't ethnic killing directly or indirectly, it won't favor any ethnic group. We're in year 2025 AD, we shouldn't be talking about something like this.

I don't have family or friends living in any part of the south east, but it does not mean I will the killings of Igbos in the south west.

Out of the over 300 tribes in Nigeria, only one tribe has issues with her statement.

She did not even mention a tribe name but only them came for her, to the extent of even sending threats to her WhatsApp.

See open death threats over a simple Facebook post.

The threat message should not be taken lightly and must be forwarded to the security outfits for swift investigation and prosecution of the idiot that sent that message.
