Is it possible for the principal applicant to go ahead first and start sorting out school registration and other stuff first before dependants land? The school registration is my main focus please

I want to ask again, I'm renewing my driver license and have just been given the temporal one. Can I use this and the recently expired permanent one for the driving test. Do I need to come with any other document to argument this? Please my people I need answers, especially for those based in SK. Thanks.

smslive2: I am pretty sure that more than 90% of school Children in Nigeria speak at least 2 languages (English + A native language). How challenging is that to Nigerian parents? 5 Likes |

Cherokee: To be honest, I contended with that question as well. To an outsider, I must be really out of my mind to leave Switzerland for any other place on the planet. However, after a careful evaluation of my medium term goals I decided it's in my best interest to get international exposure. In the next 5-7 years (after two/three PDFs) I'll be in a position to apply for tenure-track professorship positions and at that stage foreign experience counts for a whole lot. I wanted primarily English speaking countries as I have struggled to properly integrate to the Swiss society owing to language constraints. UK was top of my list of potential destination (I really wanted to be in Europe because I don't wanna be so far away from my girlfriend) but that plan went bust after Brexit. Canada naturally became the ideal choice as it is similar to Switzerland is so many respect (albeit having its differences too). Australia is too far away from anything else. America decided they'll rather be governed by someone with great apathy towards science and there is always racial tension in the states. Canada also has the added advantage of being the sole country on the planet (as far as I know) that grants you citizenship after just 3 years of residency. Those are the considerations that went into my decision. I hope that answers your queries. Ghman: Hi Ghman, For some inexplicable reasons, my private messaging doesn't work. You can drop your mail if you like and I'll be sure to get back to you. duduade: You are welcome. GlitteringStar: My pleasure. How's your prep going or have you landed? Sorry, I have been busy to catch up with what everyone has been up to. 11 Likes 1 Share |

vascey:Yes. It's on top of the hst, pst or gst or whatever tax is applicable. While tipping is not mandatory, it has become a norm or culture when you eat out (not fastfood), take a taxi, buy drinks at pubs or order food for home delivery. I can't giving tips outside these four services. Some people also leave tips in their hotel rooms for the cleaners. When you are handed the pos terminal, you would have an option of adding an amount or % to your bill; however, some restaurants (fine dining) would automatically add a tip of 15% or more to your bill. When you also go out in groups, some restaurant would automatically add a tip to your individual or total bill. For aslong as I can , every member of my team at work tips anytime we eat out, and we eat out a lot. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Ethelia: Oh wow...still fresh. Congratulations. London gang I guess? I am about 4 months post-copr already. I really want to make a permanent move but as things (beyond my control) stand now, I may have to do a short-landing. It's getting me a bit worked-up. 1 Like |

IykeD: Actually it was Ottawa (took about 4 months for processing). Why not say what challenges you are having (if not personal)? What is a mountain to you might be an ant hill to someone here and you can get reasonable advice. short landing isn't bad, so long as you have someone very reliable to send your PR Card to you. 2 Likes |

Hello house. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to making this thread informative to all of us. I'd like to know how this short landing stuff works. I'm looking to do short landing and use the time to secure accommodation, get a school for the kids, enrol my spouse in school and return to Nigeria to continue work for sometime before ing them finally. However my office won't give me more than 5 weeks. Can I achieve all these within 5 weeks? Also if I'm unable to get my PR card (I understand it takes about 12 weeks) before returning to Nigeria, what will happen to my PR status. |
