The OP got the headline wrong. The Primary school is the first in Northern Nigeria not in Nigeria in general. You are right the first Primary school is in Bdagry,Lagos.

I did my pre nursery in this School. They called it class toro toro There were few of such structures some of them got demolished in early 2000 and replaced with a new structure that couldn't even last up-to 10 years.
lokoja now looks like an ancient naija villa were ppl are happy to die due to lack of money and frustration.

It should not be functional classrooms rather the structure should be restored and serve as a tourist attraction.

I thought they said the first primary school was established in 1842 in Badagry or the OP meant first primary school in Northern part of Nigeria? 1842 & 1865 thats like 23 years difference yo!!
And how can learning take place in that building?
They should build a wall around it and turn it to museum
