Obong of Calabar dies Written by John Ighodaro Wednesday, February 20, 2008 The Obong of Calabar, Edidem (Prof.) Nta Elijah Henshaw has ed his ancestors and the search for a successor has unofficially commenced in earnest. According to Palace sources, the late Monarch ed his ancestors Thursday night according to Palace sources and has since been buried in his family compound in Calabar. A Professor of Medicine, Henshaw was coronated in 2001 succeeding his predecessor Edidem Boco Ene Nkpang Cobham. Henshaw was from Henshaw Town in Central Calabar and it is expected that his successor would come from Western Calabar specifically Odukpani Council Area. Among those fingered to be the likely successor is former Minister of Finance, Chief Anthony Asuquo Ani from Ikoneto as he is said to be the leading contender among a host of others who have shown interest in the throne. hotfunmi don't mind abanna abeg, you wonder why that country is so pathetic then you have people like that abanna or whatever they call them. How could somebody die and people don't have any comion and you wonder why our leaders don't have comion on the people, its because the people there are dead emotionally, that's why a rich man driving an S-class would drive by a squalor and feel no comion on the people there or he would at times yell at them "commot for road jare". Don't worry, there is a judgement day when God will reward us for what we did (and said) on earth.
