Ha! This is a big problem. But do our so-called fellow country men see it as such?
Quite pathetic I must say.

They don't see it that way. They see it from an ethno-religious point of view, fueled by political sentiments.
I have never been an ethnic bigot, and will never be; I stand for the truth and for equity, but sadly, these things are hard to come by.

Here on nairaland, I just try as much as I can not to comment, because, when I read some comments, I just feel like I could just bring youths together and talk to them, I feel like writing cannot fully express my sadness and concern towards their gross ignorance.

I'm hoping that with time I will start up a kind of awareness program; I'm not even sure of how to go about this, but would have to, because the Nigerian elites are poisoning the hearts of today's youths in a very dangerous way.

Government of bias and lawlessness.
Why am I not surprised? Of course I was in Zaria when the massacre took place last year; if they could kill armless minors in their hundreds, what's detention?

I was staying in a street beside the Shias, they were murdered in cold blood, and soldiers went as far as doing a house to house search in all the surrounding neighborhoods and killed the ones found hiding. We were driven out of our estate for 3days, we slept in churches. The corpses I saw in one of the trucks was more than 600 people but the official figures says over 300.

Most people on nairaland this government of hate without knowing what is going on behind the scenes. They swallow every garbage the bought-over media dishes out to them..not me! I know what I saw! I know what I know!
Nothing can be farther from truth than the emboldened.

Did you count the corpses? How did you arrive at the 600 figure?

I can categorically say it anytime and any place; the corpses that I saw in just one truck were over 600, and I'm using that figure so I won't be guilty of exaggeration. I wasn't the only one who saw it, most people insist that the said truck was having up to 700 corpses. let DSS come and arrest me.

Please stay off my mentions. I don't post for your type; you can't be helped. You choose to see and hear want you want, nothing else matter to you.

How did the of enquiry arrive at 300+? Did they exhume the corpses and counted all of them? I mean, all of them!

So where is the change?

And don't delude yourself by concluding that I'm a GEJ fan...

I'm not a fan of any politician...
So why did you have to mention my name in the first instance?

Pertinent question.

I did because you have refused to understand that this government has an agenda in collusion with the NA.

Why will the NA have Arabic on it's official logo? Why do some states in the north practice Sharia?

Why do they have Islamic bank n a secular country?

Why do the have kannywood instead of being in nollywood?

I don't know where you're from but northern Nigeria has never ever seen themselves as one with Nigeria, the above questions should give you clues to what I mean.

They've always had their own agenda which is very evil.

You should quit supppporting this govt blindly and do some introspection and retrospection.

You also need to watch that Ahmadu Bello clip where he was saying that until the Koran is dipped into the Atlantic Ocean, the northern agenda must go on...

Open your eyes!!!

There you go again with your infantile delusional rants. Did the NA start being brutal under this regime?... Did the NA kill or did they not kill Shiites when GEJ was the C-in-C?... Yet you come online to spew meaningless trash about how this govt is doing one thing or the other...

Even a toddler born in Nigeria is aware of the mindless brutality of our armed forces (from military to police to even traffic warders a.k.a yellow fever). But all of a sudden, due to their rabid pre-programmed hatred for buhari and Apc, some have chosen to develop selective amnesia or have chosen to just be wilfully delusional over these known facts. Anyway, the internet does not forget. I am yet to see any one of these buhari haters call GEJ a tyrant or a killer over the well known mindless brutality of the Nigerian military men towards unarmed citizens.

Lol not sure what first part means. The Nigerian Government just likes creating problems long term. Enforce the rule of law but don't be selective about it. Second can ban groups. I'm still betting they will radicalize in 3 yrs time. If they don't defeat Boko Haram for good they will enjoy war on 2 fronts.

Lol.. Oh yeah, it just has to be blamed on buhari isnt it?...

Are you really sure the brutality of our untrained animalistic armed forces got worse or could it just be there's now so much more noise about it for 2 reasons?

1. People get to hear more and react more to these hitherto unreported atrocities today because information now flows more freely.

2. People get to make much more noise today about these age-long problems for purely political reasons; oh yes, people hate Buhari so much hence they accuse him of even problems that clearly precede him.

Today, a policeman slaps an okada man or accidentally discharges bullets on a bus driver for n20 bribe, pmb haters and sworn enemies jump online and put the blame on him as though this is the first time we've heard of police brutality. In fact when such tragedy happens in the SE or SS axis, certain people of a particular movement/sect begin to spread hate propaganda 'Buhari and his Hausa-Fulani-Yoruba police are killing Biafrans', this pathetic comment is made even when the culprit officers are of southern origin.

There are a lot of people today who can swear Fulani herdsmen never killed anyone prior to buhari becoming president. But fact remains that the killings were rarely reported before and are reported loudly today purely for politics' sake (after all, the hated president is fulani). If you doubt me on this, search for any Benue, Nasarawa or Plateau or southern Kaduna friend of yours and ask him/her what their people have been enduring in the last 2 decades.

Here's a little extract from Human Rights Watch in 2014 giving the stats of herdsmen atrocities between 2010 and 2014... 3000 souls, but obviously you never heard of this till 2015 because a fulani man became president.
Human Rights Watch in December said clashes in the nation's religiously mixed central region had killed 3,000 people since 2010, adding that Nigerian authorities had largely ignored the violence, an accusation they denied.
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-nigeria-violence-idUSBREA360HT20140407

Finally, have these problems gotten worse today?... I totally agree with you, yes indeed! they have gotten worse, but we mustn't make it seem like they started today. And the reason for this deterioration is simple, 'when you dont treat a cancer on time, it festers and gets worse.'

I think it wouldn't take up to 3 years for them to radicalize, knowing the country that is backing them..
