Ondo shuts 50 illegal clinics

The Ondo State Government on Sunday said it had closed down at least 50 quack and illegal private clinics operating in the state.

The Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Health, Dr. Baderinwa Omoloja, who said this in a statement issued by the Ministry of Information on Sunday, warned of the public to stop patronising illegal health centres.

He assured the people that the state government would continue to provide quality and effective health care delivery services for the people of the state.

He urged proprietors of health centres that were yet to with the state government and those yet to renew their certificates to do so to avert reprisals.

Some of the clinics shut by the government, according to Omolaja, are Bright Optical Centre, Akungba-Akoko; Abubakar Joe Clinic, Igoba-Akure; J.O.I. Adeyemi Memorial Hospital at Ayede-Ogbese, Oba-Akoko, Isua-Akoko and Ajowa-Akoko.

Others include Dotun Clinic, Ikare-Akoko; G &T Medical Clinic, Owo; Onyx Optical Centre, Owo; Brita View Optical Centre, Akure; Bolatos Clinic, Ode-Irele; Mark Hospital and Maternity, Ode-Irele; Dr’s Specialist Hospital, Ifon; Salvage Clinic, Okeluse; Victoria Medical Centre, Igbara-Oke and Ayo Itunu Hospital Annex, Igbara-Oke.
