Because you are poor and not independent, if not, nobody has right on your choice of spouse. If marriage didn't work, you can separate peacefully.

An old saying goes thus; if a snake crawls into your house and an mbaise indigene comes in too, first kill mbaise before snake. Don't know if it's just a myth or a Caricature 4 Likes |

Lol. it seems you havent heard... But they cant stop you, if you trust yourself, go ahead. At least for the Mbaise people to exist until now, somebody must have married them and bore their children So they cant all be 100% bad But on second thought i find it hard to believe that you can be surprised at your parents reaction. I think my parents would sound like that too. maybe you grew up in a detribalised environment where you wont be hearing these stereotypes Well to answer your question, in my mothers words "Mbaise people are over-wise in marriage" 17 Likes 1 Share |

I think it better to ask your parent the reason.. Than coming here to ask, your parent must have had a reason for saying so.. I believe you should only come here when you've known the reason for rejecting people from that side Do well to check my profile to learn importation from Turkey, USA, UK Malaysia and china 1 Like |

Well as the saying goes... If u happen to see an mbaise man and a snake. Kill the mbaise man before u kill the snake. On a personal level I have not heard any good thing about them. Please be warned there is no smoke without fire 14 Likes 1 Share |

Kcee14: Mbaise is my maternal home....they are great people. They hate injustice...they are very caring people. No society is perfect enough....the most important thing is the character of the man you wanna marry. The only area I disagree with mbaise people is on their requirement for marriage...when someone is marrying their daughter's....but I have been told that they have reduced their requirement now....but it doesn't apply to you cos you are not the one buying your bride price.. Again they are predominantly Catholic ...so visit one rev father in your community to help convince your father. In General igbo men are the best in of taking care of their wife and children 44 Likes 1 Share |

It's an old belief among the Igbo that "If you see a snake and you see an Mbaise man, you'd better kill the man and leave the snake". They were notoriously crafty and unreliable but that is a generalization and doesn't necessarily mean your husband or his family are like that. I would suggest you engage your parents' priest or pastor to intervene in the matter. 5 Likes |

wisdom042:during my youth service, the one I met was so kind and generous, but womanize a lot and very good looking too. my neigbours husband is from thesame ahiazu mbaise, have refused to go and pay his wife dowry only did introduction and has impregnated her with 3 kids , the wife is from Enugu state, she still worried till today. I also know a wicked mbaise man that I needed an assistance from, the conditions he gave me was just terrible, I had to back off. they are nice people, I think, but the majority are just mean hearted.. 10 Likes 1 Share |
