Help, my toyota corolla 2010 automatic transmission won't engage in drive until after 15 minutes in the morning if I start the car but if I put it in reverse and other gear, it would select. Also it does delay before switching to another gear when on motion, what could be the cause?

Gear issue. You need to plan on changing the gear. Sorry that's the problem with Toyota cars

Okay, thanks boss. I took it to a technician yesterday and he was talking about changing the fiber and he said that would cost #40,000, could this be the cause of the gear problem?

When a gear stop to select it means that the gearbox is faulty. There is no way he will change fibre calibre and it won't affect the selection. He just want to extort you. Park your car and think on how to purchase a new gearbox. Mechanics are crooks and he might just add grease and change oil. But check the oil gauge fess. How long have u changed ur pil

The gear hasn't stop selecting boss but just a little delay before selecting and when it select, it moves well. I changed my gear oil eight months ago boss.

Okay boss, is the valve body inside the gear? I also tell the mechanic that took me to the gear specialist about scanning but he said scanning can only detect engine related issue, how true is this sir?

Soon it will stop does it jerk before selection. Plan on changing it, my 07 camry gear started having issues I fixed it but it was a total waste. I have to bring down the whole gear box and get a replacement

No, it doesn't jerk but the sound coming from the engine is higher than the usual sound before selection

My advice is ask the mechanic what he will be changing and make sure you are there while he is doing all that. Never allow him to do it behind your back. Take away a day to fix it and test run before you pay him workmanship. That's my stance.

Gear is difficult to repair in Nigeria that is why many advise you replace with good toks. Most times, the mechanic don't even know the right oil to use talk more of repairing the gear.

A lot of illiterates that don't even know the right oil for your transmission cannot do shit for your gear.

15 minutes for forward gear to engage? This means you slide selector into D and then go take your shower....

You get it bro, just put into D and then pull up d hand brake and go take my shower but as fuel don turn gold now, man needs find solution

This is serious. It's hard to remotely tell what is
exactly wrong, but it's definitely hydraulic.

Look for a good automatic transmission auto electrician for diagnosis. It's an electrical issue.
As long as it selects well after the initial delay. There s nothing wrong with your gearbox. I had similar issue with mine.

But scan it first, a mechanic telling you gear can't be scanned is a red flag already.. Run away from such mechanic make them no finish your car for you patapata

I did scan today so it says the brain box is where the error is and not from the gear box, how true is this bosses on this thread?
Error codes was cleared, we tested and viola, the transmission ran well when we tested it on express but when I was driving in town, I still experience same issue, what can I do?

My guys get another gear. Simple. Scrap it at ladipo .add money buy another one. Auto gear can't be rebuilt in naija.

It cant be brainbox or ecu. Have u checked for the gear fuse
