Alaafin is the greatest king in entire Nigeria by ranking. You can argue with your keyboard if you don't agree.

The position of Ọọni of ifẹ was never meant to be a king...

From history, Ọọni was just an ABỌRẸ to the Alaafin of Ọyọ. What we can call coup turn Ọọni from ABỌRẸ to a king.

Ọyọ is the centre and heart of the entire yoruba race. The normal Yoruba language is written in Ọyọ language.

That is not what we are here for ok, we are here to read about the coronation of the new King so pls don't confused us with your history keep that off for now it's coronation discussing biko.

Thanks..

They always come here when politically irrelevant. I believe they come to kick off proceeds of corruption which they planted while in power. Either way, the bum should remain in Canada. He is unneeded here.

Live long, the new alaafin. But they told us queen Elizabeth would attend the coronation of ooni oginwusi. We never see mama for there. I hope the ex PM would make it to the event.

You are quoting Rev Samuel Johnson's book which is full of errors and oyocentric since Johnson himself is from Oyo.

Ooni, the Oghane, is the one sat on the throne of Oduduwa and wears the ancient Ade Aare (Oduduwa'ss crown).

By ranking of seniority, the Oba of Benin is older than the Alaafin. Oranmiyan left Ife to establish Benin with Oduduwa on the throne of Ife. After leaving Eweka 1 in Benin, he headed to Oyo and left Ajaka there.

Oranmiyan returned to Ife to drive Obalufon away and reclaim the throne of father, Oduduwa.

There is a reason, the last two Oba of Benin went to Ife Immediately after their coronation, and not Oyo. Oyo is a younger brother to Benin. The oba of benin also wrote a letter to the Ooni in the 1930s calling the Ooni his father. There is a reason the letter was not sent to the Alaafin, but the Ooni.

The colonial master also witnessed the Ooni's superiority when they called for him to come to Lagos to settle the dispute between the Akarigbo and the Elepe in the 1900s on whether the Elepe had a right to wear a Ade (Crown). There was a reason they sent for the Ooni and not the Alaafin.

Please stop distorting history and let us focus on the coronation of the Alaafin Oyo.

He wasn't even making any sense.

It means Oranmiyan left Ife to establish Oba of Benin and his children continued there as kings, then left to establish Alaafin of Oyo with his childrens as kings, then return to claim the throne at Ile-Ife with his children as kings. Oranmiyan was Ooni, was Oba of Benin and was Alaafin, how could Oranmiyan be senior to himself. If that version of history is accurate then those kings are equal and Oranmiyan's children are ruling at separate locations and are equal. Seniority based on what, and for what exactly? Will Ooni go to Benin or Oyo and be issuing commands or what? At what point did that ever happen? grin

This looks more like a tacit confirmation of the position that Ooni was Abore, a spiritual leader. You don't send for an Alaafin or Oba to come and intervene in a dispute between two obscure villages. You only see the Alaafin in public just three times in a year in those days. That job is traditionally for the Abores, Oluwos (Olori Awo), Ilaris etc, not the king. If unresolved, they have to come to the palace for resolution.

Yes, let us just focus on the coronation of the Alaafin.

The alaafin stayed outside on the the Ooni's journey to Ife. Like I said earlier, the Oba of Benin stool is greater than that of the Alaafin. If the Alaafin is not senior to the Oba of Benin, how can it be senior to that of Ife (Ufe)?

It's impossible. There was ife before, Benin (not igodomigodo), and there was Benin before Oyo. Why did Oranmiyan return to Ife to become an Ooni if the seat of Oyo was greater?

That dude raised lots of questions that you people could not answer.

I don't think i have read any more nonsense this year with this hogwash you put up. The staff of Oranmiyan is in ufe and not in Oyo.

Oranmiyan is still being worshiped in Ife till date. His sons continued to remind as Ooni of Ife after him.

The Ooni is the OloriOba. He is not just an Oba, but also a deity. The Alaafin is the igbakeji Orisha meaning he is the 2nd to the deity.

See the 2nd source. It called Oranmiyan A prince. It is also common knowledge that Oranmiyan became a King in Ife. He chose Ife over Oyo that he established later. Even the ifa corpus confirms the kingship of the Ooni.

Last slide: From Grok

According to Grok,

The number of his reign among the Oonis varies in different lists; some traditions place him as the fourth Ooni, while others, such as the catalog at the Ooni's Palace in Ife, list him as the sixth. Regardless of the precise numbering, his kingship in Ife is affirmed by the commemorative Staff of Oranmiyan (Opa Oranmiyan), a granite obelisk erected in his honor at Mopa, Ile-Ife, symbolizing his legacy and final resting place.

Thus, while the specifics of his rule may differ across sources, the consensus in Yoruba history is that Oranmiyan did indeed become a king of Ife, solidifying his status as a foundational figure in Yoruba monarchy.

The Alaafin has NEVER been called the OloriOba.
Igba keji Orisha? YES.
IKU? YES

But never the Olori Oba. it's not in his appellation. That appellation belongs to The Ooni of Ife. The only Oba in the SW called the Olori Oba is the Ooni of Ife.

Thanks for confirming that the Alaafin is ikeji Orisa.

While the Ooni is the Orisha himself.

Go to Oyo and listen to their talking drums and you will hear that clearly. Alaafin has always been called Olori Oba long before the current Ooni of Ife came with his own drama which he is entitled to, live and let live. Ooni can't come to Oyo and issue orders and Alaafin won't come to Ife and do the same. Even Oluwo has made that clear that each Oba has his own throne.

Lastly, Ooni was exiled from Ife for 13 good years by the Modakekes, so let's stop with all the exaggerations grin
