First is because of the money, secondly is the car shape, I don't just like it, if it's like 2012 or 2013 shape, I would have loved it

It's because of the car shape, I don't really like the shape of 2014 corolla, I would have gone for camry 2014 but many people are telling me corolla is more rugged and stronger,
Like i said, I'm a novice, this is my first car

Kindly advice further.

Nevertheless, upon realizing this, I got a Nigerian used 2008 camry yesterday, the engine Is in great shape "very silent" but my mechanic I went with to purchase It warned me that there's no catalyst on it, In which I still proceeded in purchasing it, as I intended buying a catalyst for it tomorrow morning. I'm yet to test it's fuel consumption because I'm unable to drive It yet because my papers are not yet ready.

Please how much did you get the muscle for ?

I own two cars: Camry 2010 and corrolla 2006 model. Both cars always have full tank, so I never really measured the fuel consumption the way the poster stated. However, the Camry obviously consumes more fuel than the corrolla. The corrolla is rugged, stands the test of time and once you repaired it, it tends to not give any issues for a while. I imported my Camry directly from US in 2022, so I never had issues with it till date aside oil change and brake pad. I consider it relatively new, but I can tell it wouldn’t withstand the ruggedness of the corrolla. Although I enjoy it more than the corrolla because it’s softer and sweet to drive.

CAMRY is softer and sweet to drive of course. i have camry 2010 venza engine 4 plugs . the car movement is superb and more power, compare to my Corolla 2005 that i sold.

I'm done testing the Toyota Camry, I bought 25k fuel to test It, It went 55 kilometers before the fuel finished. Whereas on my corolla, 30k fuel normally goes 150km on average.

I love the camry, it looks bigger has more power, coupled with the fact that have spent a lot on it, I bought catalyst on it, I bought seat wrap, also used nylon to wrap it, I spend 54k yesterday to raise it, so that whenever I'm ing speed breaker the center of the car won't be touching ground, I bought a new compressor for the AC and also filled it with gas, I changed all 4 spark plugs, all 4 coils, I changed the engine oil yesterday, I bought new air filter, also jarbox oil and break fluid.

If I had known I would have tested the fuel consumption before doing all of these, it's such a pity that I wasted all these money all for nothing, now I intend selling it and continue using my corolla.

camry displays on the odometer Trip A or B is in miles. so lets assume 55miles equivalent to 88.514 kilometres.
pls note:
If on the odometer, your outer markings which are bigger are in MPH, it means your car calculates its distance in miles on the trip metre. But,

If the outer markings which are bigger on the odometer are in KM/H, it means your car calculates its distance in km on the trip metre. It depends in which country the car was manufactured. my CAMRY 2010 with a venza engine was manufactured in the USA.
Maybe i should buy 25k fuel and test mine and see how many miles i will get. just that it has been long i bought fuel, CNG all the way with a 90L fiber cylinder in my trunk cool

Check your air intake filer, check for airleaks from manifold. Also check your manifold sensor if its working. That could be the culprit of your fuel drain

Immediately I got my corolla, the first thing I did was change all 4 plugs and oil, I also bought a catalyst, but the mechanic that loosed my older one out, told me that my corolla catalyst was intact, so I kept the new one I bought, and until date it's of no use to me. I changed 02 Sensor after a scan displayed 02 Sensor as a problem of the car, I changed 2 of 4 of the coils. I don't accelerate hard, and lastly, my exhaust Isn't leaking, but still my corolla consumes fuel, with an average usage of 150km per 30 liters of fuel, whereas those using V6 including Mercedes can go 300km per 30 liters of fuel.

Hello Nairalanders, as y'all can see from my previous threads, I bought a 2008 toyota camry July last year, the fuel consumption was something else and totally out of this world, I went from mechanic to mechanic, to detect and get It resolved, but the fault remained the same, nothing changed. So August last year, I bought a 2012 corolla, but it seems It also consume fuel which I didn't realized until I stormed upon a thread here on Nairaland, I came to this conclusion when I saw a thread on Nairaland titled "how much fuel per km does your car consume" I clicked on the thread and read all the comments and to my surprise, my corolla consume more fuel than those using v6 cars, a guy commented that his Toyota Venza goes 490 miles for 40k fuel, which is approximately 42 liters, I saw another comment where a guy stated that his camry goes 270km for 20k fuel.

Whereas my 2012 corolla goes 150km for 30k fuel which is approximately 31L of fuel. This Is the 5th time I have timed and calculated it's fuel consumption, the first I got 150km for 30k fuel, the second I got 144km for 30k fuel, the third I got 152km on 30k fuel, the forth, I got 146km on 30k fuel and the last which was four days ago, I got 149km on 30k fuel. I used "km" because my corolla gas milage reads in km and not miles.

I have not sold my 2012 corolla yet, I told myself that If it consumes just like the corolla or consumes slightly just above the corolla, then I would sell my corolla, but If it consumes far more than the corolla then I would sell the newly bought camry and continue using my corolla.

For those using the 2007, 2008 or probably 2009 camry, what's your fuel consumption How many miles/km does your car goes per liter

Below are the pictures of my corolla and my newly bought camry.

How much you buy the Camry bro . I need one

Hello Nairalanders, as y'all can see from my previous threads, I bought a 2008 toyota camry July last year, the fuel consumption was something else and totally out .

Did you buy the corolla as naija used? And has the thermostat been removed? This common practice by Nigerians affects fuel consumption.
HacheNoire: 12:51pm On May 09
Take that car to Toyota service center and stop patronizing Kazeem’s. You have one along Adeniji Adele.
ToyinDipo(m): 12:54pm On May 09
Don’t, except the camry 07-09 is V6
Grupo(m): 12:54pm On May 09
I csn now see that they are all naija used.

I'd advise you to sell the two cars - the corolla and Camry. Add the money together and buy a tokunbo 2012 or 2013 corolla.

Make sure you don't allow mechanics tamper with the engine of the new one. Leave the thermostat intact. And you go enjoy.

Just buy Honda crv 2006. You can get tokunbo for a good amount. There is nothing wrong with Hondas to be very Honest. All these Toyota is just unnecessary hype. From Ibadan to Ekiti with crv, 20 liters will go. I don’t know any Toyota car that can give this. Another car you can consider is Honda civic. It doesn’t give the issues that accord gives (leg pulling out). For now, just make sure there are no major repairs and pray to be able to make money to afford petrol. All those reviews you see here are exaggeration. You said a venza went 490 miles with 40 liters. That could have been an high way trip. Start and stop motion of driving will consume a lot of fuel that’s why most recent cars now have eco mode. In the end, Old Toyotas are not it especially those with a very high milleage.

Toyota Corolla na your mate? In of speed Honda is good, in of Fuel consumption Toyota is better.

Excessive fuel consumption.
Bad 02 sensors
Bad and carbon filled plugs
Bad coils
Too many short trips
Excessive idling
Hard acceleration
Catalyst will allow u drive a distance of 2km on 1liter
Exhaust flex net leak leads to Excessive gas usage

Abeg what causes excessive idling

You first compared distance with cost. Are you paying the same for fuel as they? If not... you're fooling yourself. Do you know the type of driving they do? ...highway driving?....while you may be doing city driving....stuck in traffic for hours...burning fuel but hardly recording mileage? What if I hardly go anywhere...just local...to make ket and back ...but I love to sit in my car daily for hoursss and enjoy the cool a/c ...then I come here on NL and be complaining that 30 liters of fuel only gave me 5 km? If none of these apply then probably there is a leak somewhere or you're getting robbed at the fuel station.

My 2010 corolla can covered 110 miles with 20 liters of fuel on town driving and i am still looking for means to increase d fuel efficient.

I have not time to calculate high way driving.

Catalyst intact and no check light.
my 2013 corolla as well but I noticed I've been buying rubbish fuel in Abuja.... When moved to d south west last year, my fuel consumption has been normal.... 15 litres can't go from kubwa to Central area twice back then.... Omo.... Now I move from Ago-Iwoye to ibadan on 20k fuel to and fro

It’s relative. 100,000 to 120,000 is fine for a 13 year old car.

It's even going to be very difficult for him to see any 2013 Toyota corolla that has less than 100k miles. Unless the milage has been rolled back.

So your suggestion is actually okay.
miketayo(m): 1:10pm On May 09
All these miles is confusing when we use KM in 9ja. My car at full tank gives me about 730km.

I would stick to the corolla
