Edusouls:It was booming in the past until APC came to power. Nigeria's Middleclass is almost gone; they have all migrated abroad out of fear, only few are left and they are living in constant fear of what tomorrow will be, sadly yet some heartless Nigerians out of tribalism and stupidity want Tinubu to continue, to do what exactly? Maybe to turn Nigeria to Sudan ![]() 18 Likes |

Things aren't really going well in the country. If you haven't gone out of Lagos, you'd not understand. The same view here in Ilorin is the same thing with Shorprite in Ibadan. Its a different story in Lagos though. 12 Likes |

Foot falls at shopping malls in some parts of the country are now being used as a benchmark to measure the success or otherwise of the Tinubu . While those who use this indices to measure the may not be entirely wrong, it’s also not an accurate reflection of the economic situation in the country; before my position is mistaken as denying the existence of economic hardship realities across the country, what I’m saying is there are other ways to measure than using foot fall in malls For instance, the video could’ve been made on a slow business day or time also, the fact remains that if any such business owners in the mall aren’t making sales in volumes that cover their running costs and then some little profit, they would’ve closed shop without delay to cut further incurring losses. Finally, they try to paint the economy as very terrible & unfavorable to businesses yet, their hero who came 3rd in the last presidential elections, has rebuilt his mall (Next Cash & Carry) that was burnt down in a fire accident some few years back; he will restock the business, employ new hands, etc knowing how business owners operate and project, if the economy isn’t viable and doesn’t businesses to grow and make profit, would he have bothered to reinvest tens of billions to rebuilding? Who rebuilds in a dying or stiffling economy? 2 Likes |

I have said, why remove subsidy without a commensurate effective palliatives to cushion the effect. Nigerians better tighten its seat belt because it is in for a long ride!

This type of mall thrives when the purchasing power is high. The last time I visited the ShopRite in Abuja, most departmental stores were virtually begging people to buy as they sat idle all day without sales.

Zionmdde: Yeah people are trooping in Buh to buy what exactly, @ what quantity ?? how much can people afford to spend ?? this are the issues i am a Fan of Mall, i go to mall @least trice in a week, i see what the long queue buy out The reality on ground is people purchasing power have being eroded, people downsize now, person wey dey buy indomie carton before now buy pieces, thats the reality of most Nigerians now 5 Likes 1 Share |

Zionmdde: Abeg stop this falsehood...Trooping in to do what?!! Businesses are suffering and clo all around due to the poor economy. The buying power of most Nigerians has diminished so badly that investments are losing money daily. Maybe draw close to people who actually own businesses, and ask them how far... Ask them how much they are making in profit today compared to 5 or 10 years ago. Investing money in Nigeria today is riskier than sleeping beside a hungry rattlesnake. 15 Likes |

Okay, this is actually another angle to the whole scenario; the fact that Shoprite have since exited Nigeria and are probably just scaling down their operations makes sense. For e.g the Shoprite at Novare Mall, Central (Wuse Zone 5) has shut down since last year. The one at Apo is a shadow of itself and may also soon shutdown too. While the diminished purchasing power of Nigerians is a strong factor in the decline of shopping culture among Nigerians, there are also other factors at play. christejames: 4 Likes |

Nigerians are the most gullible, brainwashed and dumbest people ever,u see people being oppressed and impoverished by their oppressors and those keeping them in abject poverty, yet because of tribalism, religion and ethnicity, their brains are completely locked to logic and reasoning, hence those criminals rogues continue to use and create a divide amongst them while the oppressors live in luxury and opulence quote author=iwaeda post=135469289]It will favour me and my family. Tinubu ruined everything, but they are endorsing him for 2nd term. Insecurity will not abate, I laugh at youth who are ing their oppressors. Nlfpmod, go to shoprite at Oniru, Osapa, Sangotedo and Ikeja, same story. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 5 Likes 1 Share |
