The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two years in office as the worst period in Nigeria’s history since independence in 1960.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Coalition’s National Spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, to mark the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s istration, which began on May 29, 2023.

According to Adebayo, “Two years ago, severe hunger came to town in Nigeria through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Governance, in its most inhumane form, ascended the throne. Insecurity worsened, youth unemployment skyrocketed, and the number of out-of-school children rose from 20 million to nearly 40 million. Inflation has surged to over 36%. Our foreign missions remain inactive due to the absence of appointed ambassadors, leaving Nigeria virtually absent on the global diplomatic stage.”

He further decried the deteriorating security situation, saying, “People in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of the country are being slaughtered daily by an invading army of terrorists, killer herdsmen, and kidnappers. Even Abuja, the nation’s capital, is not safe from these predators.”

On healthcare, Adebayo remarked, “Our medical institutions have collapsed. They are worse than consulting clinics, and the common people bear the brunt. Meanwhile, the president and his cabinet continue to travel abroad for medical treatment.”

The CUPP accused President Tinubu of abandoning governance to focus prematurely on securing a second term in office. Adebayo said critical sectors such as healthcare, education, the economy, and national security have suffered the most under what he termed “ill-conceived and anti-people policies.”

He continued, “Nigeria’s debt profile has reached scandalous levels, with total debt—both domestic and external—projected to hit ₦188 trillion by the end of 2025. Despite the billions of dollars saved through the removal of fuel subsidy on his first day in office, the Tinubu istration continues to seek additional loans, deepening the nation’s economic woes.”

Adebayo asserted that the president’s current focus on reelection while governance suffers reflects a “deliberate impoverishment strategy” designed to mortgage the country’s future for selfish gains.

Nigerians are already weary of this istration and have lost faith in President Bola Tinubu due to his anti-people economic policies over the past two years,” he said. “A second term would be catastrophic. Nigerians are actively seeking a credible alternative for 2027—one with the competence, patriotism, comion, and creativity to rescue the country from its current crisis.”

He concluded by reaffirming the CUPP’s commitment to presenting a viable presidential candidate capable of tackling Nigeria’s myriad challenges with urgency and innovation.

It's very clear Tinubu is the worst president Nigeria have ever had; he deserves to be a one term President.

That goes without saying...

The socio-economic downturn is alarming. Except war torn countries and Buhari's military rule in the 80s, I cannot a country whose socio-economic conditions took such a steep plunge within such a short time.

The style of bat seems to enrich a few people so they can give handouts and crumbs to the masses. Everything is about political patronage for bat. There is no end goal in the way he runs Nigeria beyond politics.

Every project has a political undertone to it with the end benefit for the masses an afterthought.

Every appointment is a favour with merit a distant 2nd.

Every action of bat seeks to first achieve a selfish goal, something that benefits he and his cronies. If that action benefits the masses, then it is just happenstance. Because I cannot understand how a government has supposedly achieved so much, yet the socio-economic conditions have worsened rapidly...

Bat just has to be kicked out in 2027. His reforms are obviously designed to favour himself and cronies without care for the masses.

This is worse than Abacha’s government. The closest comparison you can have in nigeria since 1960 was under buhari in the 80s.

It's even annoying to see Tinubu spending trillions of naira building an unnecessary coastal road than investing that sum in power infrastructure, which is a critical factor of production.

This is why White South Africans repeatedly argued throughout the Apartheid era that the black man lacks the mental capacity to rule himself. To date, purely black African countries are still the poorest in the world.

Exactly,
Your second paragraph is what I have been hammering time after time. The man is so interested in politics than governance. Every of his move is all about politics, 2027, who get what and who will help me in this state. No governance Whatsoever, people are suffering and it's getting worse but all he and those political jobbers are interested is 2027.
Look at within 2 years everything added x4. What type of reform impoverishes the people. Any Reform that impacts negatively to the people is not worth embarking on. Nothing concerns the people with paying of IMF loan. The people first.

Ignorance from CUPP.
Comparing Nigeria,South Africa and Egypt debts:

In the 2024/25 financial year, South Africa's total debt, including government, household, and corporate debt, is estimated to be around $699.5 billion. This includes a government debt component of $300.2 billion (USD) at the end of 2024. While Nigeria's total debt is $94.23 billion,Egypt is your oga in debt with $152.9 billion and Egypt household debt(domestic) is $23.5 billion dollars...totalling $176.4 billion.

Undoubtedly the worst. Nothing to show for it. There is no single progression he has shown except milking the citizens with tax. Look at Ibrahim Traore that don't tax the people and company are they not generating money.

Cupp of sore losers. Coalition of clowns.
Tinubu could have continued with the same tired govt policies of fuel subsidy and foreign currency manipulation but he chose to go above board and took the hard road that previous govts lack the courage to undertake.
The fruits are beginning to germinate.
Tinubu will be ed as the best president in the history of Nigeria when it is all said and done.
New and great ideas are often not popular in the beginning but the rewards will come later.
