Watch out for the speed of the Jamaicans in the last 3rd. They also have one or two players that are good on dead balls. If SE can curb their speedy transitions then it will be a walk over on Saturday. 2 Likes |

Nigeria v Jamaica: Match preview, h2h, likely lineup as Super Eagles battle Reggae Boyz in Unit West London is set for a carnival of football as Nigeria and Jamaica face off in the grand finale of the 2025 Unity Cup at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford on Saturday evening, Soccernet.ng reports. Nigeria come into this final with a sense of purpose and quiet resolve. Despite their heartbreak at the 2023 AFCON final and the looming shadow of another potential World Cup miss, the Super Eagles are still seen as one of Africa’s most talented outfits. New boss Eric Chelle, the Franco-Malian tactician, has started his reign brightly — going unbeaten in his first three games in charge. A 2-1 win over Ghana in the semi-final has lifted spirits and offered hope of a new era. Nigeria Super Eagles Nigeria Super Eagles On the other hand, Jamaica, under the experienced Steve McClaren, are riding a wave of momentum. Their thrilling 3-2 win over Trinidad & Tobago — secured by a last-gasp penalty — shows a side capable of both flair and resilience. How they they reached the Unity Cup final Nigeria The Super Eagles punched their ticket to the final after a pulsating 2-1 victory over Ghana. Cyriel Dessers’ composed finish and a deflected header from Semi Ajayi were enough to put Nigeria ahead before Jordan Ayew clawed one back for the Black Stars. Nigeria Super Eagles Nigeria Super Eagles Though the second half demanded defensive discipline, Nigeria held firm — with Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka shielding the back four and Stanley Nwabali producing key saves. Jamaica The Reggae Boyz showed flashes of brilliance and worry in equal measure. Kasey Palmer and Rumarn Burrell handed them a 2-0 lead against the Soca Warriors. But lapses in concentration saw their lead vanish before Richard King’s calm late penalty rescued the win. Jamaica's Reggae Boys at the Unity Cup 2025 Jamaica's Reggae Boys at the Unity Cup 2025. READ MORE Chelle on edge as former Chelsea man drafted into Jamaica squad to face Nigeria Late drama sends Jamaica to Unity Cup final as Nigeria and Ghana lock horns in London Jollof derby Head-to-head Nigeria and Jamaica may be continents apart, but their footballing paths have crossed more than a few times over the years. Saturday's clash at the Gtech Community Stadium will mark their seventh meeting in international football, with Nigeria holding the edge in this intercontinental rivalry. The Super Eagles have ed two victories, three draws and one defeat against the Reggae Boyz. Nigeria Super Eagles Nigeria Super Eagles The first-ever encounter between both sides dates back to June 1998, just before the FIFA World Cup in . It ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, a match ed fondly by Nigerian fans as Rashidi Yekini scored his 37th and final goal in the green and white jersey — a record that still stands today. The next few meetings further tilted the scales in Nigeria’s favour. In 2002, the Super Eagles secured a narrow 1-0 win over the Reggae Boyz at Loftus Road in London. That game saw James Obiorah net the decisive goal in the second half, with Nigeria dominating proceedings from start to finish. Jamaica’s only victory over Nigeria came in May 2003, in a pulsating international friendly where the Reggae Boyz triumphed 3-2. That game remains a rare high point for the Caribbean side in this fixture, especially considering their struggles to break down the Nigerian defence in other matches. Nigeria responded emphatically a year later during the inaugural Unity Cup in 2004, where they sealed a 2-0 win over Jamaica. Nigeria Super Eagles head coach Nigeria Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle Predicted lineups Nigeria (4-4-2): Nwabali; Ismaila, Ajayi, Ogbu, Agu; Ndidi, Onyeka, Daniel, Chukwueze; Simon, Dessers Jamaica (4-3-3): Davis; Lembikisa, Holgate, King, Bell; Hayden, Russel, Palmer; Burrell, Cephas, Dixon Tactical note Jamaica are exciting in attack but susceptible to overloads at the back — especially in wide areas, which Nigeria may look to exploit via Chukwueze and Simon. Nigeria’s midfield trio of Ndidi, Onyeka, and Daniel offer incredible balance. Ndidi’s ball recovery and Onyeka’s pressing could choke Jamaica’s creative spine, forcing the Reggae Boyz to go long or wide. The pace of Chukwueze and the movement of Dessers up top offer Nigeria variety in attack. Jamaica, meanwhile, will look to draw Nigeria into transitions — using the speed of Dixon and Burrell. Palmer, a clever er, will be key to threading that needle. However, the concern lies in their defensive third — where lapses have been frequent. Match details Fixture: Nigeria vs Jamaica Date: Saturday, 31 May 2025 Time: 17:00 WAT / 17:00 BST Venue: Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford, London Prediction The Super Eagles look more cohesive, more disciplined, and certainly more robust in key areas of the pitch. While Jamaica are fearless and unpredictable, Nigeria’s strength in midfield and ability to defend deep should see them edge this one. Expect Chelle’s side to control large spells of the game — and punish Jamaica’s frailties in wide areas. Prediction: Nigeria 2-0 Jamaica |

To be very candid Eric Chelle dropping Osihmen and Lookman is not good at all. He should have invited them to fight for shirt with other players with similar positions for a place in the Squad Win or lose against Jamaica am not happy with his actions.
