This blessed occasion commemorates the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail (Ishmael), as an act of complete submission to God's will. Allah, in His infinite mercy, replaced Ismail with a ram, teaching us a profound lesson about obedience, sacrifice, and divine intervention. This event is deeply rooted in the Sunnah, tracing back to the very origins of Islam and emphasizing the importance of selfless devotion.

The Sacrifice (Qurbani): On Eid al-Adha, those who are able are encouraged to perform the Qurbani, sacrificing a healthy animal—a goat, sheep, cow, or camel—meeting specific age and health criteria. This act symbolizes Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice and embodies sharing blessings with the less fortunate. The meat is then divided into thirds: one for the family, one for relatives and friends, and one for the needy.

Eid Prayer and Friday Prayer: Since Eid al-Adha falls on a Friday this year, there are specific guidelines for prayer:

Option 1: Attend the Eid prayer followed by the Friday prayer.
Option 2: Attend the Eid prayer, and then perform the Zuhr (noon) prayer at its designated time.
Missing the Eid prayer necessitates attending the Friday prayer. No adhan (call to prayer) will be given for Zuhr prayer on this particular Friday. Imams are obligated to lead the Friday congregational prayer.
