PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU ISSUES LANDMARK EXECUTIVE ORDER ON COST EFFICIENCY IN OIL & GAS SECTORhttps://www.energyreforms.ng/publications/putting-every-barrel-to-work-nigeria-s-new-presidential-directive-on-cost-efficiency-/ 10 Likes 2 Shares |

Key provisions of the Order include: • Performance-Based Tax Incentives: Operators who achieve industry-standard cost reductions will qualify for defined tax reliefs. • Terrain-Specific Benchmarks: The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) will annually publish cost benchmarks for onshore, shallow water, and deep offshore operations. • Credit Caps for Fiscal Discipline: Tax credits under the Order are capped at 20% of an operator’s annual tax liability, ensuring government revenues remain protected. Building on the istration’s 2024 reforms—improved fiscal , accelerated contracting cycles, and globally aligned local content policies—the 2025 Executive Order moves the sector from reform intent to performance execution. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Still a good one, cost efficiency incentives in form of tax incentives. I would say that this istration(nothing to do with it's party) is on the right track There are several aspects to look into What was the original debt as of 2023? What was the GDP then? We can then calculate the debt per GDP ratio How much was the oil price? What was the benchmark set for the budget? How much was government spending? Was the spending greater than the budget? What was the deficit? How much was the safe borrowing to compensate for deficit? What can be done to reduce government spending on non infrastructure & development? Yes, Subsidy Removal & others Where does the subsidy money goes? Payment of Debts with hanging interests. CMGs. The issue of crediting vulnerable Nigerians isn't yet sure of how many percent each home got according to the World bank & IMF. What can be done to generate more revenue & increase the GDP? Tax reform, Toll on Lagos/Calabar Coastal way. Diversification etc. (Power, security. etc for investors confidence) & which I commend this istration. The naira for crude for local refinery is the most difficult choice any istration could have done with such exchange rate to dollar. All the loans & frameworks are clear long term vision for positive developmental change that are achievable & sustainable through right future istrations. I would say the fiscal policies of this istration has a focus. It's young & it carries a subsidy Removal shockwave that created an inflation. But at the long run with or without an oil windfall, the fiscal stability will prevail & the country will put the worst & dark behind. I'm an Engineer, I'm not interested in Politics. But from a layman's view. I do think this very istration(nothing to do with it's party) is on the right track in trying to solve the many challenges facing the economy due to years of corruption, lack of focus, monoculture of oil export etc. 10 Likes 3 Shares |

Thank God for Tinubu. He understands what leadership is not by attending burials, conjuring fake statistics fro thin air but instead taking hard decisions like a doctor knowing that the patient will appreciate you later after a successful operation. Those who pose for the camera are usually insecure people or people in the entertainment industry. For those who do not know, the average cost of producing a barrel of crude in Nigeria is higher than in most other countries of the world. That tends to reduce our profit on each barrel of crude we produce and sell. It is only when you know there is a problem that you can attempt to try to solve it, this EO is a first step towards solving that identified problem. It is these kinds of big decisions that make those countries we envy worthwhile, not by populist decision that eat up the future. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Right step in the right direction. For the first time in a long time, Nigeria just go a president well prepared for the job. Emergency lovers of Nigeria will not be happy with this. In fact if you’re looking for the real enemy of Nigeria, look no further, they are the ones. Because how can you get upset and be sad when you hear positive news about your country and the president but get excited and happy when you hear negative news? 5 Likes |

PBAT is clearly a novice. This is my industry! You can't issue any order like this and it will work. There's a lot of complexity that will make nonsense of this order.

Tinubu can never, over his dead body, allow fuel to be sold at a cheap price. Fuel is everywhere, with no scarcity, except for TPain's decision, which solely benefits him and enriches his company, Oando, operating as NNPC Limited. We all know there is no reason for fuel to be so expensive, aside from Tinubu |

Is he trying to copy Trumptard with the executive order?
