INEC Announces Dates For Ekiti And Osun Governorship Elections (11736 Views)

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states for Saturday, July 20, and Saturday, August 8, 2026, respectively.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced the dates on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), whose nominations were recently approved by the National Assembly.

Yakubu also revealed that the Commission is finalising preparations for bye-elections to fill vacant seats in both the National and State Houses of Assembly.

Elections in Nigeria are just mere waste of money and resources if the masses are not the people electing those officers ....

To cub this, there should be law that three months before an election in Nigeria, all officers holding positions will step down for an interim , then after election, the winner takes the seat back....

With these done, INEC will surely answer that INDEPENDENT BODY and not the one controlled by people in Government...

Aregbesola is nothing in Osun State politics. As far as Osun State electorates are concerned, he's now elder state man. Who are the people that's following him about. He doesn't even have followers again
