Sad!!! Pregnant mothers should watch what they eat during pregnancy! The size and weight of the body goes a long way. The vagina is elastic but it has limits So sad !!! 1 Like |

Watianoengineer: LagosOrigin: You people should stop campaigning for your various parties. The problem has been there for decades. It was there long before GEJ and tinubu took over. Infact, the issue has had a lot of activities to solve it....but ultimately, the problem is, we don't have enough specialist doctors and nurses in obstertics. Fixin the problem is not a one term thing. All your governments has been able to do is subsidise healthcare....CS is very cheap in Nigeria compared to saner climes, even with insurance. But the problem is, we need to find a way to TRAIN MORE SPECIALISTS, and train them well. And that takes time. We also need things like an ambulance service, and so forth, which cost a lot more money than is in our budget for healthcare. If each and every state had five tertiary hospitals, with a network of primary and secondary health care centers, we would be able to fix most of the issues. But the fact is, it would cost far more than our national budget to do that. And you people no dey like pay tax. ![]() |

arantess: I wish I had your optimism Nigeria has midwives. But the palaver is, the number is not spread well enough across the country. (Note that a specialist nurse in obstetrics is also called a midwife ) In 2021, we had 114000 midwives. WHO says we need 70000 more by 2030, or else. And that for me is still too damm low. And many of them are either japa or working in urban areas. few work in the rural areas where the real shege is. |

People in the South do not know how maternal mortality has killed many mothers in Nigeria. The mortality rate in the South is not that big. When I served in the North, I could not count the number of times people within where I stayed as Corper ed away while giving birth. Two staff (laborers) of the firm I worked for lost their wives while giving birth. Maternal mortality is deeply entrenched in the North and I don't know why government have not taken it seriously.

All in Africa except Afghanistan. You will see some Africans especially some part of Nigeria comparing themselves with the West, people you will never meet up even in the next 100 years. The more you go, the more they go farther. If you talk they will call you inferiority complex. Inferiority complex for a fact undeniable? If we do well we us but fact is fact 3 Likes |

Improved primary healthcare would help to reverse the trend of maternal death if the Nigerian government at all levels becomes serious about revamping primary healthcare in the country. Currently they're just paying lip service to that critical level of healthcare despite financial s that come from the international community.
