I was house hunting months ago. Ill-fortune nearly pushed me into the net of a terrible landlord. After all negotiations had been cleared and payment was at the verge of being made, the landlord threw in a weird condition that I must on no circumstance entertain visitors on Fridays and during weekends and that no sleep-over visitors must pay me visit.

Omo, my weak was weak.

Leaking question is the handiwork of WAEC officials. I saw Literature question hours before the scheduled time for the exam to start. School owners, parents and some greedy examiners have made examination a huge joke in the country.

If this had happened during the period of electioneering campaigns, Atiku, Tinubu and Obi would be competing with mourning of these lost souls. Each of them would the family of the accident victims with humongous amount. But it happened when it did and our caring politicians and only dropping their consoling letters.

Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, who has died aged 87, was a titan of modern African literature - a storyteller who refused to be bound by jail, exile and illness.

His work spanned roughly six decades, primarily documenting the transformation of his country - Kenya - from a colonial subject to a democracy.

Ngũgĩ was tipped to win the Nobel Prize for Literature countless times, leaving fans dismayed each time the medal slipped through his fingers.

He will be ed not only as a Nobel-worthy writer, but also as a fierce proponent of literature written in native African languages.

Ngũgĩ was born James Thiong’o Ngũgĩ in 1938, when Kenya was under British colonial rule. He grew up in the town of Limuru among a large family of low-income agricultural workers.

His parents scrimped and saved to pay for his tuition at Alliance, a boarding school run by British missionaries.

In an interview, Ngũgĩ recalled returning home from Alliance at the end of term to find his entire village had been razed by the colonial authorities.

His family were among the hundreds and thousands forced to live in detention camps during a crackdown on the Mau Mau, a movement of independence fighters.

The Mau Mau uprising, which lasted from 1952 to 1960, touched Ngũgĩ's life in numerous, devastating ways.

In one of the most crushing, Ngũgĩ's brother, Gitogo, was fatally shot in the back for refusing to comply with a British soldier's command.

Gitogo had not heard the command because he was deaf.

I'm certain you're one of the proponents of the groundless and discriminatory native speakerism concept. The fact that you're a native speaker of a language does not make you better in speaking, writing or teaching the language.

It's time we stopped this hasty generalization. Some Nigerians speak or write English in condescending way should not, in any way, be equated to Nigerians speak or write bad English. The moment you propagate the latter argument, you put us all in the same box.

Nigerians speak a version of English that's unique to them as non-native English speakers. World Englishes is not an inferior or a below standard form of English.

fables. African stores have Nigerian drinks for immigrants who are stuck on taste.

What is fable. I read it on national newspaper. And local radio stations even deliberated on it for weeks. It happened in 2016.

Read about a case some few years back, a man bought coca-cola in quantities and shipped abroad, thinking of the profit he's going to make, when the consignment got to the designated country, it was shipped back to Nigeria , declaring it unfit for human consumption. so the man sued coca-cola bottling company. The following conversation took place
Prosecutor:Why did you produce a substandard product for me to export, there by making me to lose my resources.
Defendant:we never knew you wanted to export it, the drinks we produce in Nigeria is made for Nigerian market and not for export.
So you see, the coca-cola might look same but not the same quality. Mind you this really happened in Nigeria, it's no fiction .

It happened years ago. The year before I served, I think 2016 precisely. I could bringing up the scenario to ask a question from one NAFDAC official who came to Asaya camp to address us. The man had no answer.

You're right, the product is the same drink we all hold dear. That time, I sworn never to drink Coke again. But here i am, I still dey drink am.
God have mercy.

The point still remains that why would they declare a product we consume here in Nigeria "Not for human consumption" and NAFDAC gleefully issued approval for such product.

Agents are generally wicked but you see Abuja agents They are "agents of darkness"

Ibadan agents look small to you. If you hear "may we not jam agbako". Na them be the real definition of agbako.

They have shown me pepper and are still showing me pepper.
If you are among the dubious agents in Ibadan or you consciously promote their deal, you will not well.

And some educated people are openly ing this madness. Do you have to instill fear on people's heart, deny them their fundamental rights, and employ all instrument of violence, coercion and lawlessness just to celebrate your dead heros!

This is outright stupidity.

How many white people want to be black by using eye lashes, trimming thier noses, bleaching their skin, abandoning their language and worshipping the borrowed tongues. Blacks just need to wake up. You're not white. You're black. Learn to embrace yourself and see how you elevate yourself and everything that us naturally yours.

this is so bad our Government that wants house rent to reduce should lead by example they too the amount they sell houses they built this days is high, they ain't reducing the price they sell so how will landlords decrease house rent, all you will hear is that na me build my house myself no be Govt help me.agents too there fee is too high, sometimes because they do network for example if before som1 gets an apartment & total number of Agents that involved is like 4 they will charge the person that wants to rent the apartment so that each of them can get reasonable amount of which the bill is on the person that wants to rent house

It's really terrible. Getting accommodation now is hard. The only way you can have fair negotiation is when you are privilege to meet the house owners directly

Some people have stopped working.... they are into ful time house-agent job.

Their job is to walk around to find apartments and people seeking to rent houses.

Then they bill you extremely.

Because of this guy's, house rent skyrocket.....

If the government will look into this, it will go a long way.

Those are the real problem. Rent two Naira, total package 20 Naira. Even in Ibadan that used to be less expensive to live, they are making life really hard for people. Imagine, you can't get a room self-con (even the shabby ones) for nothing less than 350. All thanks to the useless house agents who collaborated with some heartless landlords to make housing a luxury

Some terrible souls will even be asking 2 years up-front payment. In thiss Economy

One piece tomato, four pieces of rodo and two pieces of onion go for 2k..

One Linus spotted. Things are expensive but not to this point. That rodo is below two hundred Naira. This is onion season, so the two onions are sold for 100 Naira. You see that tomato, no marketer will sell just one piece of tomato. You are a terrible liar!

Those guys aren't superhumans. The problem of black people is that we are too greedy, petty and selfish to focus on things that matter - innovation, development and research.

Until we have leaders who genuinely value knowledge and are ready to invest in knowledge economy, black people, especially Nigerians, will always be underdogs in the scheme of things.

Greed, pettiness and selfishness are universal vices of man. They are not peculiar with the black race

This Adeleke is playing the same game now.

This was the question that kept playing in my head. I kept asking myself "what attracts this gamblers to me". Do i look like one of them...
