All of the State EXCO ed the Governor in moving to the APC, save for one

The 42yo is a former State PDP Publicity Secretary (2016-2020), and later Information Commissioner under former Governor Udom Emmanuel
Behold another bend
Today, I have tendered my resignation to the Governor in compliance with his directive that his appointees who are unwilling to him on the political journey to the APC should resign.

While I cannot question or fault the Governor’s personal decision, I am unable to in that sojourn. My decision is borne out of my belief in politics with principles and my long standing opposition to that political platform, which is daily validated by numerous Nigerians across many sectors. This decision does not affect my personal relationship with the Governor, who calls me his brother and reposed great confidence in me by saddling me with two very important ministries (Information and Special Duties & Ibom Deep Sea Port). I have and will continue to have tremendous respect for HE Governor Umo Eno, even out of EXCO.

About my history in political and public service, I look back with great satisfaction at the work I have done and leave the ultimate judgement to history and posterity. Given another opportunity, I will do more.

Let me convey the very sincere appreciation of my family to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno for appointing me into his cabinet. Our very special appreciation goes to Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State for his enduring love and belief in me, especially for appointing me into the Executive Council during his istration.

I understand this decision may not please everyone, and to those who are disappointed, I humbly seek your understanding.

As usual, I do not know the future, but I know HE who holds the future and I trust that at the end, all things work together for good, to those who love the Lord and are the called unto HIS purpose.

Earlier this morning, I submitted my resignation from PDP to my ward chairman, to the state chairman and national chairman. I have therefore decided to progressively move to the All Progressives Congress...
In a shocking turn of events, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Eno expressed his gratitude to the PDP for their during his tenure, stating that it was time for him to make a progressive move. After completing a series of consultations, he decided to the APC, citing his iration for President Bola Tinubu and the need for Akwa Ibom State to align with the federal government to reap continuous benefits.

Governor Eno assured the people of Akwa Ibom State that he would continue to work tirelessly for their benefit, regardless of party affiliation.

Every time His Excellency Mr. @PeterObi speaks about how the system tries to silence him, I listen. But I never imagined I would witness it firsthand—until Saturday, 31st May 2025. Let me walk you through what happened.

I accompanied Mr. Obi to London Business School, where he engaged in a Fireside Chat hosted by the Africa Business Club. The theme?
“From Promise to Prosperity: Charting Africa’s Development with Political Will and Vision.” A powerful and inspiring session with Q & A.

After the event, we boarded an Uber to Brentford Community Stadium, where Nigeria faced Jamaica in the Unity Cup Final. At the entrance, we ran into D’Banj, who came to perform at the event. We slipped in and sat near the Nigerian team.

The match ended 2-2 and went to penalties. As it got intense, the crowd—mostly young Nigerians—started chanting: “Obi! Obi! Obi! Obi!”
Some players began noticing him too. To avoid becoming a distraction, Mr. Obi quietly stepped back, cheering the team from a distance during the penalty shootout. But after Nigeria won, some officials invited him to their post-match photo session.

True to form, he politely asked them to get clearance from the officials. Suddenly, everything changed.
One of the officials, after a phone call, returned with a hardened face and shouted: "He is not allowed to take pictures with the team!" Just moments earlier, the same officials were been visibly excited about Mr. Obi’s presence. The transformation was disturbing. It was clear someone had given a directive. The atmosphere shifted instantly.

One player, still determined, tried to greet him after the photos. But from the pitch, a voice thundered:
"You have been told not to greet him!"
Security physically blocked the player from reaching Mr. Obi.

The player, visibly upset, walked off the pitch straight to the dressing room. It was shocking to witness. Even efforts to see the team even in the dressing room was met with same instructions from above. Unbelievable! Meanwhile, both Nigerian and Jamaican fans continued swarming Mr. Obi for photos. They didn’t care about politics—only the man they respect.

I left the stadium thinking:
Even in football, a sport meant to unite us, politics has been weaponised.
That moment deepened my resolve: In 2027, we must build a country where no one is silenced based on party affiliation. A nation where everyone is equal. ✊🏽🇳🇬

William Ruto has cunningly cloaked his daughter’s union with a Nigerian suitor as a quaint narrative of cultural convergence, when in truth, it is a calculated machination - a thinly veiled business arrangement designed to obfuscate his nefarious dealings.

Far from a romantic or sociocultural milestone, this marriage serves as a conduit for Ruto, a consummate charlatan, to launder the ill-gotten gains of his criminal enterprises.

His son-in-law, strategically positioned, facilitates the surreptitious funneling of these proceeds, while Ruto orchestrates the so-called Nigerian “takeovers” of floundering Kenyan enterprises.

These businesses, deliberately driven to ruin through his ruinous and self-serving policies, are then absorbed under the guise of foreign investment - a predatory scheme that betrays his cannibalistic intent to exploit and devour the nation’s economic fabric for personal enrichment.

Ruto’s public declarations, draped in the rhetoric of unity and progress, are nothing more than a sophisticated masquerade, concealing his heinous objectives and the systematic plunder of Kenya’s resources.

My daughter is married to a Nigerian, this one now again is married to a Nigerian..and ehn...our guys around I don't know. Are we shy or slow? So we need to balance this scale because at this rate we are going to have a brain drain from Kenya. I think there is something between Kenya and Nigeria.

I think at this rate there is something between Kenya and Nigeria so we should build it further.

Though, after this event I am wondering if this visa-free should apply to Nigerians.

has not lost to Portugal since 2000
The world's most prolific finisher, Cristiano Ronaldo yesterday sent Portugal through to the final of the UEFA Nations League. The Nations League tournament is a representation of the 55 Football Associations that make up the continental body.

Playing in front of their home fans, Florian Writz had put the Germans in front before a beautiful sco Concecaio equaliser. Still hanging in the balance, Nuno Mendes, fresh from winning the UCL with PSG, sandwiched between two German defenders before a square which the talismanic 40yo Ronaldo showed composure and experience to slot in. Although the VAR was called in, the goal stood for what will be Cristiano Ronaldo's 937th career goal (137th International goal in 220 appearances) and his 85th goal for Portugal since turning 30 years old.

Portugal who won the first edition of the UEFA Nations League on home soil in 2018/19 will wait to meet one of defending champions, Spain or former holders in the final on Sunday.

During the phone call, in addition to matters of mutual interest, special attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine and peace.

The Pope made an appeal for Russia to make a gesture that would promote peace, stressed the importance of dialogue for the realization of positive s between the parties and seek solutions to the conflict.

The humanitarian situation was discussed, the need to facilitate aid where needed, ongoing efforts to exchange prisoners and the value of Cardinal Zuppi's work in this regard.

Pope Leo referred to Patriarch Kirill, thanking him for the good wishes he received at the beginning of his pontificate, and emphasized how common Christian values can be a light to help seek peace, defend life and seek genuine religious freedom.”

Excerpts of Charles Aniagolu (CA) 's interview with ex-Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi

Amaechi: It's not because I am the best, I had the opportunity I utilised the opportunity so when opportunity came for me to be the Speaker of the Parliament. Dr Odili and I spoke, he felt it was important I became the Speaker, I said okay I became the Speaker and utilised the opportunity. The problem is not when you get the opportunity the problem is what do you do with the opportunity and God knows I was one of the best Speakers this country had produced at that material time. I don't know what's happening now maybe there are better Speakers than I was but at that time nobody will deny me the fact that I performed my duty as Speaker. I was elected to be the Chairman of Speakers Forum, since I left as Chairman of Speakers Forum I wonder if that Forum is still in existence.
Again I became Governor too by the grace of God, by the grace of Dr Odili and the people of Rivers too and the Judiciary, because at the end of the day the Judiciary pronounced me Governor. Now when I was sworn to the office of the Governor, you will ask the question did you perform? Of course I did.

CA: Well, You will say you performed, wouldn't you? You are not going to say you didn't perform, nobody will say that..

Amaechi: I will like you to open your phone lines and call people from Rivers State. People are building flyovers here and making noise, I built six flyovers, they are there without making noise and I didn't call President to come and commission them. I built primary schools, let any other Governor in Rivers State who built primary schools come forward and say so. I built secondary schools that people were calling Universities. Two children per room in those schools and I got an Agency in India to come and manage those schools, so they brought science teachers from India and Art teachers from Nigeria.

CA: What's happened to them now?

Amaechi: Abandoned, vandalised

CA: It must break your heart?

Amaechi: That's why I don't go to Rivers State because it gives you mental disorder. Now within that period we tried to build a new city, we have finished with 24hr power supply, it was abandoned and vandalised. I am not one that, you see, the thing with me is don't give me an assignment, I will deliver. Okay, let's go to Ministerial appointment, I began and completed the railway from Lagos to Ibadan, I began and completed the Lekki Deep Sea Port, from beginning and got it completed before I left office. Go to Kano, there is an Inland Dey Port that I completed, and I told the owner of the Inland Dry Port that you must build a Primary and Secondary school here, to enable the children who run after us when we come here go to school free-of-charge and he did that. I commenced the construction of Kano-Kaduna, I completed Kaduna-Abuja which was started by President Goodluck Jonathan, I started the Kano-Maradi and it's going on so, don't give me an assignment because I will discharge it responsibly. I won't go about abusing people, talking... Maturity.
Let me tell you what my second son tells me; we normally have conversations as a family, you know current politicians are not ashamed, they don't bother about their name, they don't bother about their character. If I do anything that is wrong you know what my second son will tell me; Dad you are not the only Amaechi, I am too. So if you do something that rubs off on the name Amaechi, it affects all of us, but if you do something that affects your Rotimi I don't mind that but unfortunately you are not just Rotimi but Rotimi Amaechi and there are so many of us who bear the name. So of my family are always cautious because of that name.
Most politicians now don't think about their name or their character, I wonder whether they don't think their children should be ashamed of themselves.

NAF NEUTRALISES SEVERAL TERRORISTS IN ZAMFARA, FOILS PLANNED ATTACK ON CIVILIANS

In a swift response to a distress call, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on 31st May 2025, successfully neutralised over 20 armed terrorists and destroyed more than 21 motorcycles during an air interdiction operation in Zamfara State. The operation, carried out in the general area south of Mai-Galma in Maru Local Government Area, was aimed at halting a planned large-scale attack on vulnerable communities by armed bandits.

Intelligence received indicated that a significant number of terrorists were massing and preparing to strike unsuspecting settlements. Further intelligence confirmed that the bandits had killed some farmers and abducted a number of civilians, including women and children. Consequently, NAF aircraft under Operation FANSAN YAMMA was immediately dispatched on armed reconnaissance and possible rescue mission.

On arrival at the area, over 30 motorcycles carrying armed terrorists heading into the nearby forest were positively identified. On sighting the aircraft, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a precision engagement that led to the destruction of several motorcycles and the neutralisation of dozens of terrorists.

Ground forces were immediately mobilised to exploit the situation. They confirmed the destruction of enemy assets and the neutralisation of over 20 terrorists. Unfortunately, in the course of the operation, 2 local vigilantes lost their lives and 2 others sustained injuries in the crossfire.

The NAF deeply regrets the loss of these brave vigilantes and remains committed to working with local communities to ensure the safety and security of all citizens. Efforts are ongoing to track and rescue the kidnapped villagers who were taken into the ading forest.

The NAF reiterates that all it's operations are guided by strict rules of engagement, adherence to humanitarian law as well as the Nigerian Air Force Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response Action Plan (CHMRAP), which emphasises the protection of innocent lives even in the face of hostile engagements. As investigations continue, the NAF assures the public that all necessary measures are taken to protect civilians while intensifying pressure on criminal elements threatening peace in the region.
