Nigerians and ignorance. People could still work in any age as long as the person is still fit and strong. I worked with a 74 year old man while I was in the UK. I have an 82 great grandmother from my village that is still working in a child care services with the city of Houston in the US. The woman's situation is dicey and could be misinterpreted by people depending on one's perception of her action. If the bracelet stayed with her for a week and she voluntarily returned it, it could be accepted that she forgot it in her bag when she found it. But if she returned it when she was caught via CCTV and she returned it with an explanation that she forgot, then, it would be difficult for people to believe her. I pity her. It is bad to have a dent on your career, especially abroad. Seeking for jobs abroad requires serious disclosure on one's past and any dent on your previous work could spell doom for your career. 2 Likes |

Stupid demand!!!! Why didn't you issue the same order to Buhari? BAT is not going to end anything, the same way he would not be able to end "sit-at-home" in the East. The North should take measures to end the banditry. The East should also rise up and end the sit at home but the president needs to release Kanu so that the real criminals causing mayhem in the name of Kanu would be apprehended

aribisala0: Stop explaining anything to those guys above. What you pointed were the things Prof. Aminu did. He was too sentimental in his approach, if you were opportuned to listen to some of his comments. The other Minister of Education, Professor somebody Liman, I have forgotten his first name, came and messed up everything to the extent that he made comments about Southern Nigeria having a "mad" rush for Western Education. There are some comments unbeffiting of a serving Minister 4 Likes 1 Share |

SMH on the comments above - Nigeria subsidiary of MTN is managed by Nigerians and not South African people. The Nigerian CEO should put on his thinking cap and implement far reaching business ideas with positive outcome in the market they serve. MTN South African has not done anything wrong. You will see the top executives and senior managers in MTN Nigeria with their pot bellies, cruising in SUV with zero product knowledge on how to serve their immediate market.

PDP are in serious dilemma about Wike - when he was single-handedly sponsoring the party, the party big wigs were in Abuja eating his money and singing his praises - they allowed him to keep changing the leadership of the party because he was the one funding the party - he even hosted the national convention of the party for the selection of its presidential flagbearer in 2019. As the governor of Rivers state, Wike was the sole decision maker of the PDP. He funded PDP candidates in other states and was the rallying point for Obaseki during his rift with Oshimole, when APC denied him ticket. The behemoth they allowed to grow is about to consume them. Nevertheless, PDP is in Wike's hands.

People in the South do not know how maternal mortality has killed many mothers in Nigeria. The mortality rate in the South is not that big. When I served in the North, I could not count the number of times people within where I stayed as Corper ed away while giving birth. Two staff (laborers) of the firm I worked for lost their wives while giving birth. Maternal mortality is deeply entrenched in the North and I don't know why government have not taken it seriously.

Samfloxin: Real estate marketers are becoming another set of motivational speakers. You people would see a security man earning 50k and advice him to come and buy land and be paying "small small". At the end, the man would not have anything left in his pocket, wouldn't be able to feed himself and would be unable to sell the land as he has not completed payment. Make una dey fear God o ![]() |

It's quite sad that majority of Igbos do not understand or know who were/are the heroes of Biafra. Many are busy celebrating Kanu and other modern Biafra "agitators ". Why not put the pictures of brave Biafran soldiers that died defending the cause of the resistance? Pictures of Professors Kenneth Dike, Eni Njoku, Kalu Ezira and others; Christopher Okigbo, Frederick Forsyth, Bruce Mayrock, UNICEF, CARITAS, Red Cross; World Council of Churches - these were organisations that saved Igbos from mass starvation; People like Mazi Mbonu Ojike, Dr. M.I Okpara, Okokon Ndem were all heroes. The then Presidents of Ivory Coast, Gabon, Zambia, Tanzania (Julius Nyerere), Haiti, Kenya and others that gave the nascent Republic a diplomatic recognition.

musazulyadain: Which power? ![]() Obi should play politics the Nigerian way to even have a glimpse chance of success. You don't come to the devil's dinning table and wearing white. ![]() Obi and Atiku had their chances in 2023 and blew it away. If Obi had agreed to pair Atiku in 2023, they would have won and Atiku would have potentially prepare Obi for 2031. Politics is not by "gragra" or "I too know ". Its better to serve a master, pay your dues and get positioned for higher power than to throw yourself into the ring when you are less prepared. Nigeria's politics is different from the politics in other climes. You have to study the intricacies and how to take any advantage. The Nigerian electorates are not the only ones that determines electoral outcomes. As it is now, nothing will stop BAT till 2031. The man has proven himself to be a "good " and "effective " politician, by Nigerian standards. 8 Likes 1 Share |

OnyeObowo1: I have marked your word. So, for your mind, BAT will not be alive till 2027 or you believed that he would be impeached by the national assembly that is being controlled by his loyalists? You better pray for BAT to complete his tenure because I don't see Shettima being any better. The VP, sometimes, looks clueless. BAT is 100% better in of cognitive ability. Do not because of perceived hatred for BAT jump from fire to frying pan. Shettima will not be any better o!! |

The former FCT Minister, Mallam Adamu Muhammad should be arrested and charged for gross incompetence. For 8 year, under Buhari, he was the FCT Minister and never commissioned any project. What did he do with the huge allocations to the FCT during his time? Sadly, Buhari was aloof and unconcerned while of national assembly with oversight functions over FCT affairs were after contracts to execute nothing. Both the house committee on FCT and Senate committee on FCT were complicit in the mismanagement of FCT under Buhari

I do not like why some fathers or mothers would come to a wedding to announce that her daughter is a "virgin". You do not need to tell the world the sexual state or purity of your daughter during her wedding day. It could be embarrassing, though. I attended one wedding, a wealthy man from my village. He announced publicly that he was giving her daughter the latest Toyota corolla because she "maintained" her virginity till marriage. I may be wrong but I considered that unnecessary. Some do all these as way of telling the world that their daughter is a very descent and pure girl.

The "Nwa-boi" apprentice system needs serious re-evaluation among the Igbos. it is now being abused and destroyed by the same people that benefited from the benevolence of their former masters. Agreed, the system and practice have produced lots of millionaires and made the Igbos to be one of the tribes with the highest rate of social mobility. You will see families that were hitherto wallowing in poverty in the village but because of the fact that one of the sons that went to Onitsha, Aba, Lagos or North to stay with a master and learnt a trade has been settled and he is doing well, sending his newly acquired wealth home to his siblings in the village, who would benefit and eventually escape the poverty circle. My own father was a product of the "Nwa-boi" apprentice system as he served his own master, got settled and started his own business. Likewise, he did same to numerous "Umu-boi", plural for nwa-boi, that lived with us, many of whom came from Ebonyi and Enugu states, respectively. Some of them are doing well, built houses in their villages and have ed their kit and kin back home. The system is currently facing its biggest challenge as the men that were product of the system have turned monsters to the "nwa-boi", coupled with the fact that the Gen -Z wives of the modern Ogas are contributing to the collapse of the apprentice system. Some of the Oga's gen Z wives have abused the "umu-boi" beyond records ever seen in the past, turning them to slaves and unwanted guest. The Igbo community should come together to salvage this system and the government should enact laws to protect the interest of the "nwa-boi"still undergoing through the apprentice system. The "Nwa-boi" system have been studied in numerous foreign universities, including Harvard, Columbia and Dartmouth College, to understand how the system has been so successful and created the largest social mobility ever seen in a tribe. I considered the apprentice system as practiced by the Igbos as most potent and effective poverty alleviation program with positive outcomes and chain effects on a large scale. The "Nwa-boi" apprentice system is under threat within the Igbo enclave and the system should be salvaged as it has ed families, extended families and entire kindred in the past. 45 Likes 9 Shares |
