What was in the mind of God when he told the Jews to give a tenth of their increase? It was for the Levites welfare.

God is concerned about those who serve in his vineyard. There are many workers also who work full time in the vineyard of God today. Do you think God cares less about them. So, if there are no farmers, they should starve to death working for God. I know you will say God can sustain his workers. Why didn't he tell the Levites to expect manner from heaven?

So, it's common sense if you love God to commit at least 10% to the workers in the house of God.

But when the church has reached an overflowing measure in the amount of tithes they receive, they should give back to help the widow, orphans, fatherless and the poor in their midst. This is just my area of concern.

If you don't want to tithe because it wasn't emphasized by Jesus, then practice what Jesus instructed - Sell all that you have and give to the poor- Luke 12:33. This is giving away your 100%. Please start doing that if you truly want to walk in the light of the teachings of our Lord Jesus.

The bible is not complicated and most of its instructions are written in plain languages.

Our error often begin when we try to read extra meaning into what is written.

Tithe was never money and I don't need to read the mind or God to know that. Tithe to the Israelites was meant for the Levites (who had no land, no possessions, no other job or businesses), the widows, orphans and family .

Again Jesus never instructed any of his disciples or followers to sell all they have like you tried to emphasize. Again it's not a commandment.

Why should the church reach an overflowing measure from collected tithe before they give to the poor and vulnerable when that very tithe wee meant for the poor and vulnerable to begin with?

I was hungry and ye feed me, naked and ye cloth me..... Many Christians have shut their bowels of mercy because they believe that giving 10% to a church religiously is more important than taking care of the needy in the house of God.

I make bold to say that God will accept 500 you give to the poor Christian who is genuinely in need than the millions you give as tithe in church that will never get to that poor man.

Again I like to keep it simple. The weightier matter is mercy and justice. God's commands are not as complicated as pastors have made it become.
There is no legalistic requirement to tithe in the new testament. Selah!

So, we should at least start from the least requirement and step up over time. God loves a generous and cheerful givers. Single Use Plastics are more expensive and the social cost is becoming unbearable to the rest of us not in the sectors profiting from the use of SUPs. The sachet water has since outlived its usefulness and has turned to complete nuisance apart from making water more expensive.
These old archaic environmental practices need to give way and I am profoundly proud that my Lagos State is taking the lead.

The waste has started reducing since the ban on Styrofoam and once we sort out the SUP of bottled water and waste sachet from pure water, we would have solved a huge environmental and economic problem.

The bottled water can come in cheap reusable plastics while sachet water will suddenly become more expensive so the stakeholders now earn more margins as more people move to reusable bottled water and later biodegradable containers.

Jan 2025 is long enough advance notice and I urge the stakeholders to cooperate with the Lagos State Government.
