I can understand not wanting to associate with all the vices in Nigeria, and what she said is the truth. Yorubas have very little in common with Northerners. I mean, Yorubas are much more tolerant of others than the Northerners. But for a person of her standing, that was a careless statement to make. If she, as a black person, is going that far all in an attempt to distance herself from Nigeria and warm herself into the embrace of the Whites in Britain, then you've got to wonder what they now think of her. Personally, if I were in a relationship with you and you denigrate your own people right in front of me, I immediately see you as being a self-serving individual capable denigrating me tomorrow. 24 Likes 6 Shares |

You may see a marginal rise in the value of the naira. Nothing more. By the way, how did this lazy submission make FP? Nairaland nowadays. 1 Like |

Wash! As far as Dangote, we've been here before. It was this same format he used against Ibeto when he claimed Nigeria was one of the largest importers of cement and local production would boost the value of the naira. Today, Dangote still produces cement, sourced primarily within Nigeria, and yet the naira keeps losing value. This same man also produces sugar, salt, fertilizer, etc., none of which has helped shore up the naira in any way. When you also consider the dollar obligations Dangote has to investors, it's safe to say even Dangote's demand for the dollar will remain constant. So where exactly does the difference come in? As for those getting their hopes up about there being a reduction in petrol pump price, e go shock una. The man should just run his business and forget propaganda. 5 Likes |

This is nothing but the truth. Also feel for those Nigerians who are ing Dangote to fight against the FG in hopes that he might reduce PMS price. It's like the cement tussle with Ebeto didn't teach you guys anything. A man who treats Nigerians as second-class citizens in their own country is not the kind you'd expect succour from all of a sudden. Go ask anyone you know that works for him and takes the office bus to work, and you'll know how they're made to vacate their seats for foreigners, including Indians. 2 Likes |

Watcharena: Should they even be focusing on imports in the first place? Why not chanel that energy into boosting local productivity for exports. This way, you also get to reduce unemployment, poverty, mental health issues, crime, and social unrest in one swoop. |

Slaves looking for yet another master. Instead of prioritizing productivity and exports for economic growth, these mentally lazy twerps are thinking of adding yet another burden. |

The truth is that democracy has failed Nigerians. It's surprising that much of our important infrastructure was built during the military era, not during democratic rule. This set of government is only out to eat and eat. Government siphoning money in the name of phony contracts isn't new. It's just that this particular one got found out. It's sad and honestly disturbing. And you can understand why there's hopelessness in the land, with many now seeing japa as the only way out. Sanwo-Olu hasn't had a good start to his second tenure so far. He's been going from one controversy to another. And I honestly don't think he cares at this point. Once they get that second term, they don't seem to be concerned about public opinion anymore. This behavior is not unique to Sanwo-Olu alone; it is seen in many other governors as well. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Alejo2000: I have a friend who is in the same situation as you: has #20m to spare but currently unemployed. He's also considering relocation and asked my opinion on whether to start a business or japa a few weeks ago. So, I've thought long and hard about this. If I may, I'll suggest you get another job, even if you think it's below your market value. Reason being that it will keep you from depleting your savings too fast. That shouldn't be too hard given your experience, especially if you reside in Lagos, Abuja, or Port Harcourt. Whilst there may be gain in japaing, you can't say for sure how things will turn out. And the last thing you'd want as a family man is to have the costs eat away at your savings and leave you even more vulnerable than you currently are. In your shoes, I would stay back here in Nigeria, get a job that pays well enough to allow me save some, and train my kids along a path that will make Japaing easier for them. About business, I wouldn't risk it. Many businesses are suffering currently, so I'd rather wait it out and see how things turn out. There isn't much gain in running a business in a society with low purchasing power. Of course, some will still thrive, but what's the guarantee you would under the same circumstances? 1 Like |

wifeesnatcher: ![]() ![]() ![]() I understand what you're saying, but what makes you think your government can deliver the performance you people need if given more freedom than they enjoy now? Look, their wicked, corrupt, and repressive nature is the same regardless of the system. Or you think someone like Okowa has enough good in him to deliver the dividends of democracy? Granted, boko haram, militancy, banditry, etc., are a stumbling block to nation growth, but let's not pretend like Nigeria was on some upward trajectory before crime became rife. The collective irresponsibility of our leaders is why we're here. |
