Alhamdulillah! Today is a special and blessed day Eid al-Adha, and it coincides with Jumu‘ah (Friday).

Below are the key etiquettes :

🌙 General Etiquette of Eid al-Adha

1. Ghusl (Ritual Bath):
It is Sunnah to take a ghusl before going out for the Eid prayer.

2. Wear Your Best Clothes:
Beautify yourself with clean, modest, and good clothing (preferably new or your best).

3. Avoid Eating Before Eid Prayer:
For Eid al-Adha (unlike Eid al-Fitr), it is recommended not to eat before the Eid prayer, and eat from the sacrifice afterward if performing one.

4. Recite the Takbir Frequently:
Begin saying the Takbir (Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar...) aloud from the dawn of the day of ‘Arafah (9th Dhul-Hijjah) until the last day of Tashreeq (13th Dhul-Hijjah) – after each obligatory prayer.

5. Go Early for the Prayer:
Attend the Eid prayer early to in the Takbir and the khutbah.

6. Walk to the Eid Ground (if possible):
Walking is a Sunnah, as is taking a different route on your return.

7. Congratulate Others:
Exchange Eid greetings, such as “Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum” (May Allah accept from us and you).

🕌 When Eid Coincides with Friday (Jumu‘ah)
This is a unique occasion, and the Prophet ﷺ addressed it:

🔸 The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Two Eids have come together on this day, so whoever wishes, Eid prayer will suffice him for Jumu‘ah, but we will still offer Jumu‘ah.”
Narrated in Abu Dawood and authenticated by Al-Albani.

What Does This Mean?

✅ For those who attend Eid prayer:

They may be excused from Jumu‘ah prayer, especially in rural settings or if hardship is involved.

However, they must still pray Dhuhr (Zuhr) in its time if they miss Jumu‘ah.

✅ For the Imam (leader of the mosque):

He must still establish Jumu‘ah for those who choose to attend.

✅ It is better and more rewarding to attend both Eid and Jumu‘ah, especially if you're able and there is no hardship.

Make this a day of worship, joy, family bonding, and reflection. Avoid sinful behavior and immerse yourself in dhikr, prayer, and gratitude.
