Governor Mai Buni of Yobe State has declared Monday and Tuesday as public holidays to welcome the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to the state.

This was contained in a statement by the state Head of Service, Alhaji Garba Bilal, in Damaturu on Sunday.

Buhari will be visiting the state to inaugurate projects, including Cargo Airport, Ultra-Modern Market and Maternal and Child Health Care Complex.


Bilal said, “This is to enable civil servants and the general public to receive the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who will be in the state on a one-day State Visit to commission projects.”

He, however, said civil servants were to resume work on Wednesday.

The level of unemployment there is so high that even if you declare one month holiday it will not make much difference as long as federal allocation comes from Abuja every month end to pay salaries for work not done.
Hopefully, Obi-Ditti will start changing the narrative and make people in Yobe to believe they can become like one of the States in Qatar or Abu Dhabi which share same Islamic culture with them

They usually declare holidays in Yobe and Borno when Buhari is visiting. The NE have always been his stronghold. The venue will overflow with rally attendees who want to see Buhari for one last time

However, like Ganduje in 2019, Buhari’s endorsement of Tinubu will not necessarily translate to votes because of Tinubu’s bad PR. Shettima is Tinubu’s lifeline in Borno and Yobe but Atiku will do better than 2019 because Buhari is not on the ballot.

Why declare 2 days public holiday for a presidential visit to the state ?
