An Clothing Organization that sells Baggy Jeans, (One for N20000), Increased price to N35000, due to the Harsh Economic situation of the Tinibu Govt. Most Clients complained but later Adjusted when the company explained things with them. Now a Dubious Client still wanted to buy 1 Jean @the N20000 Old Price and gave the amount to a Staff (Who is her Family friend) to pay and Hoodwink the secretary to write Receipt for her. The Staff agreed in this Plan and Tried to carry it out but FAILED. So Question is, What is the appropriate Punishment for the Staff? *SACK? *SUSPENSION? *Or QUERY? 5 Likes 7 Shares |

Vinnie2000: It's an attempt to defraud the clothing company. Most companies that value integrity do not tolerate fraud in any form, especially when it is against the interest of the company. Termination of employment is the appropriate course of action based on the story narrated here. 123 Likes 7 Shares |

I don't think I understand the nature of the offense per se. Was the staff trying to get a receipt of 35k while paying 20k for his client/relative? If so she deserves to serve some form of suspension (if her response to the query is satisfactory). If she was trying to use staff privileges to get the company to sell the item for 20k (assuming the company has a special discount package for the staff), then all the punishment she needs is to answer a query and then probable have her staff privileges taken away. I don't think it's an offense that deserves a sack either way. Harsh punishments like that can reduce other staff morale and prevent whistleblowing in the long run, as no one will want to be responsible for another person's sack in this harsh economy 76 Likes 8 Shares |

As the saying goes - no one is indispensable. But sometimes, systemic bending of rules for the interest of your business is necessary. Most businesses usually have rule book that contains all dos and don'ts and their penalties. If you are yet to develop one for your business, then Scaling the gravity of the offense along side the value of his contribution to your organization/ business should help you make the right decision. 12 Likes |

Vinnie2000:The staff is very foolish. You're trying to defraud a company that pays your salary for someone who once things go south with you, wouldn't care or lift a finger to assist you. How foolish can some people be. The company should terminate the appointment of that staff. 15 Likes 1 Share |

Most companies will sack you for such dishonest and disloyal behaviour.. for you to be colluding with family member to defraud your employer shows you're unworthy to have the job in the first place. Clear go one side make dem employ better person as replacement. 10 Likes |
