NNPP Ex-Presidential Candidate, Kwankwaso Visits Obasanjo In Abeokuta Over Political Future

The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) during the 2023 election, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Kwankwaso met with Obasanjo at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) residence in Abeokuta, alongside former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke.

The former Kano governor also dislcosed the visit in a post on his social media handle.

Kwankwaso explained that during the courtesy visit there were deliberations on “significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation.”

The post reads: “I was pleased to be in company of my friend, HE Donald Duke and other associates to pay a courtesy call on President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta.

“Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation.

“We are grateful to Baba for his warm and hospitality. – RMK,” he wrote.

SaharaReporters had in November reported that Kwankwaso was under fire as Omoyele Sowore, the #RevolutionNow convener strongly condemned Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State, labelling him "Munafikin Banza," which translates to hypocrite.

The criticism had come amidst concerns at that time over the mistreatment of minors participating in recent protests against government policies and hunger.

His comments were triggered by Kwankwaso's statement regarding the shocking arraignment of minors accused of participating in the peaceful nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest held in August.

In post on his social media , Sowore wrote, "Who are the Munafikin Banzas?

“Politicians across Nigeria who created the poverty, insecurity, and destruction that have turned Nigeria into the poverty capital of the world, the most unsafe, the most insecure, and then turning around pretending they care when issues are trending.

“Zanga Zanga Yanzu! #RevolutionNow."

In a video of an address to the people of Bauchi State, attached to the recent post, Sowore lamented the dire state of the nation, stating, "There is no money in Nigeria, we are in serious trouble where hunger and starvation has become our situation."

Sowore had urged citizens to take action and avoid voting for politicians who have consistently let them down, emphasising, "Now it is time for action."

He called for "authentic revolutionary change" rather than the status quo represented by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“People of Bauchi state, I’m Omoyele Sowore, there is no money in Nigeria, we are in serious trouble. Hunger, starvation has become our situation,” he said in the video. “But our own change is not APC change, this one is authentic revolutionary change in Nigeria.”

If Kwankwaso runs with Obi and Atiku backs Obi, that’s all Obi needs. With them, Obi is guaranteed to win or get 50% of votes in all PDP states because elections are won at the state level. This will also give PO the momentum to fully lock in Rivers and more states in the SS. SE will be on complete lockdown.

Here’s the thing. People don’t have a problem with APC. They have a problem specifically with Tinubu. That’s why Tinubu lost Lagos while Sanwo Olu won massively.
