Good day sir, I am very much interested in this business because I am a living witness of what my fiancee earned buying and storing soya beans, the profit margin was too crazy. Even though i know that this incident won't happen again, I still want to invest like 800k on Beans and Soya, I want to know how to get in touch with your expertise and experience to procuring this grains, no need for storage, I already have a place ready for them....

It is a evil business . Not something I want to go into. It is this storage business that causes the high prices of foodstuff at a certain period of the year. If it is done on a small level, it is not bad. However, if done on a massive scale ( as it is currently being done ) , it is pure evil.
You are wrong Sir

Have you ponder why despite the supposed accursed hoarders, price still comes down during the harvest seasons?
Your proposition would have held true if the price rise defies both harvest & selling seasons.

The hoarders are only mopping up the glut & excess produces of the harvest seasons.

It's the failure of the government policies that the middle-men are cashing out on
A functioning government at all the 3 - tiers should naturally take over the storage biz of crops, and stabilise the price

Let me cite a good example of the poor governance .
Do you know why there's a wide gap/difference between agricultural products in the North and South?
Simply ineffective transportation!

The rise now defies the harvest season these days. The gap between the price of last year's harvest and this year's own has widened visibly. Take for example last year, beans during the harvest season was 35k for a 100kg bag. But this year? It started with 150k.

What is seen nowadays is that the closing price of an agricultural commodity for a year tends to greatly affect its opening price (harvest price). Over the period of 4 years, I have studied beans and the widening gap now seems pathetic.

Greed, my brother, is the number one cause of the senseless increase in the price of agricultural commodities that can especially be preserved by storage. Just imagine a product that just got out and is now being "mopped up" by the so-called big boys of the industry, leaving the entire populace looking on in frustration...
Are they truly mopping up excesses or buying everything available in the market so the entire nation can be at their mercy? They now begin to set prices as they deem fit as weeks run into months, cashing out heavily till the next harvest season comes again...

@shariff,
Good afternoon.
Please I heard that govt has lifted ban on importation of soya beans and maize. How true is this ? And Is that the reason for the downward trend in the prices of these commodities now ?. What do you think is the fate of already stored goods within the next few months before next harvest begins?
What's your advice ?

The Prices of Maize & Soya can't go below the current Prices.

So far, below are the prices at the Benin Republic
Maize: 22000 FCFA per 110Kg
Soya: 30000 FCFA per 110Kg

Besides, border countries can't supply the needed volumes to the Nigerian market. It's just a matter of few weeks, we will consume it all.

For the international markets, CORN FUTURES is at a ATH in the 1Y time frame. SOYA FUTURES at 3M ATH.

Above are the analysis from my personal research!
