IbnB: Thank you for this piece, you have either read a good number of books or versed in history. But let me ask bluntly: even if Aguiyi Ironsi had a Sierra Leonean father, does that make him any less deserving or diminish his legacy in any way? Is there truly anything wrong with that? 1 Like |

OkCornel: There are even Igbo Sierra Leoneans who even became president of Sierra Leone. Yahaya Kanu and Christopher Okoro. Aguiyi Ironsi's father ed on very early and he grew up with his elder sister who married a Sierra Leonean who adopted him. |

kettykin: Nope, nothing wrong with that. IbnB rightly pointed out his brother in law was the Sierra Leonan not his biological father. |

kettykin: @ bolded..................yes, of course ![]() ![]() yet, none of the books informed him of the fact that, Ironsi was fostered by a sierra Leonian man - his brother in-law. Truly, he is very versed(sic!) in history. |

Aguiyi-Ironsi is from Ndume Village, Ibeku, Umuahia, in present day Abia State His elder sister was married to Johnson Thomas, a Siera leonian, and the man practically raised Ironsi from an early age. Ironsi even took the man's name. However, the man was his in-law, not his biological father 1 Like |
