The crash was as a result of constant devaluation of the Naira. sometimes in April last year the rate dropped to as low as 1000 to a dollar only to end the year at almost 1700. What happened to the gains?

It was also celebrated that it was gaining that period.

Nope. There was no intentional devaluation. Speculators like you were having a filled day on Binance until FG intervened.

And then it gained until the FG got tiredof supplying BDCs and allowed it to find its level which it currently is doing based on new realities like local PMS refining and EFEMS etc etc

Do Americans also monitor exchange rates as we do?
Always keeping Nigerians abreast of the naira/dollar exchange rate could be a strategy of manipulating the price. It makes some Nigerians buy the dollar out of panic, and others lose hope in our economy. Trust me, always shoving the exchange rate in the faces of Nigerians will do little or no good.

grin grin grin In 2011 APC told said is 217 to 1dollar ok? But today APC and thier willing zombies on Nairaland want us to celebrate 1430 to 1dollar...APC is a consuming cancer upon Nigeria 🇳🇬

In 2011, dollar was 150-160 there about. I think you meant 2015 when it went up to 216.

Chinese holiday starts January and ends sometime mid February.

From my observation, every time the holiday is around, Naira tend to gain for that period.

That is the big question. Prices at home should be falling if dollar is falling. Nigeria Economy defy logic.

In December, Obiuinces told us naira gained because of diaspora remittance and would fall once New year celebrations are over. Now that it didn’t happen that way, they’re now telling us it’s because of Chinese new year grin
I wonder what will be their next excuse by mid year when naira will be trading around 1200/$

Check our foreign reserves in the last 2 weeks to see where the liquidity is coming from.

The margin For parallel trade is too much it still over 1650+ ... I thought cbn already handled this.... Why do Nigeria institutions make laws without enforcing

There’s low demands now due to the Chinese holidays. No work in the whole of China for a few weeks, so people aren’t buying much.
You guys said the same rubbish during Christmas. Yet it has still been going down from Christmas price. Just say you don't know what will happen, nobody really knows.
kelvindj98: 3:26pm On Jan 31

And it is #1,620 at the parallel window This country is just full of drunkards. Banks and CBN chiefs needs to be arrested, jailed and executed all at once.

Official rate at #1,493? Which will be sold to Bureau de Change operators to sell above #1,620 to the public? Everything about this country sucks to the highest heaven.

The question is, why operate two windows?

Which 1620. It is 1590/1600 and my dealer has already stopped buying and selling because it is still coming down to 1580.

you guys are the real enemies of Nigeria not those that call you out or point to the nonsense you have turned this country into
You ,your yeye government and apologist are the real enemy of the country, you set the country back several years ,you expect people to clap for your incompetence, your reverse psychology can only work on timid and naive people

Just want to ask an honest question ; why are you always wishing Nigeria to fail? This doesn’t even stop even when u relocate out of that country as u still want the country to fail to validate ur choice. You want the country to fail so badly so u can laugh at the end lol. The stupidity in some of you is intriguing. Low life mofos

Because this is a question, I will answer you this way being patriotic is different from being loyal to a leader ,so when there is conflict you chose the country above the leader, but in your case you chose the leader, once the leader is no longer there ,you shift your loyalty, is that love for a country no
For your information, I am a yoruba man, I will work seriously with like minds to work against the re election of Tinubu, he himself knows this
He is being so so disappointing
