let them collect what gov give them, otherwise they will loose both end.
It's as simple as that.
Many people don't realize this.

Once upon a time, a former govo of a state wanted to build a palatial residence. Someone else building was encroaching in the space he wanted to use. They met him and made him an earth shattering offer plus they'll give him land any other place he wants in the state.
The man refused.
Before you know it, allegations started piling up that he's using his place for nefarious activities and before anyone knows what's going on, his C of O was revoked by the govo on of the allegations. He went to court to challenge it but then, bulldozers already razed down everything in his compound cos of the allegations and revocation.
He died of heart attack and lost everything.
If he was wise, he'd have taken the offer cos they also offered to build him a house anywhere he made a choice.
Only a fool will challenge someone with political power.

Some people may despise the Hon. Minister of the FCT, HE Nyesom Wike aka the Wicked One but, no one can deny the fact that the man is firing on all cylinders as far as his job and primary responsibilities are concerned no matter whose ox is gored.

He followed all due processes in notifying the owners of the affected buildings by providing them with an alternative space including compensation but, they wouldn't bulge.

Wike being a no-nonsense man, had to pull the "trigger".

When a project is for the common good, no individual, community, group etc can stop it especially after the due process has been followed.

Times are hard, but if you look at Johannesburg skyline or Dubai skyline and you love it, hard decision needs to be made.

The central area you love today once had mud houses scattered around just few years ago.

Spoken like a true deadbeat.
You obviously don't own any land or property thus you can't even begin to comprehend what the residents are going through.

If it's my ancestral land, I won't relocate for anything. What that means is leaving a place where you are landlord for one where you become tenant just for peanuts. Your new hosts can throw you out any time. Besides, why not build the road around the area of dispute. If the community don't want the road, by them.
You + your anceral land are government properties if not that Nigeria is a lawless state most buildings should be uprooted after 90-99yrs because according to the Nigerian constitution you can only own a land for that period. And no citizens has the right to take his own life meaning that Nigerians are FG properties

Production matter most

They don't want to improve the lives of the people so the people cannot challenge them. They want to create only road so they can drive their cars around town easily. At this point everyone knows we need serious human capital development not just infrastructure. Abuja needs urgent mass transit because the rate of one chance I'd alarming and most brutal out of all the 36 states in Nigeria.

Unfortunately and ironically he has failed to employ workers to provide pipe borne water for cleaning up the mess that attracts the flies.

I guess that he did not improve water supply in Rivers also for eight years when he was governor there.

Idu traditional ruler begs FCT water board to restore supply
November 14, 2024

The chief of Idu in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Muhammad Makama has urged the Federal Capital Territory water board to restore supply in the area.

Idu, the host community of Industrial area in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), along with surrounding villages, has been cut off from water supply for some days, leaving the residents in a sorry state.

He appealed to the board to evolve measures that will curb the situation from getting out of hand as residents are running out of patience.

Checks by The AUTHORITY in the area, revealed that the disruption is caused by the ongoing road constructions in Life Camp junction.

However, the chief said, “We’ve been enjoying uninterrupted water supply until now,” Chief Makama lamented.

“But with the current shortage, our people have no choice but to rely on water from natural sources and boreholes, while appealing for alternative solutions to ensure access to pipe-borne water for his community.

This crisis comes on the heels of a delayed Abuja project, which has left 3.8 million residents struggling for clean water. The FCT Water Board has also announced a two-day cut in water supply to major areas of Abuja.

Residents are bearing the brunt of this crisis, with many forced to seek alternative, often unhygienic, sources of water. This poses serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations like the elderly, pregnant women, and children.

Makama’s plea echoes the sentiments of many affected residents. The authorities must prioritize restoring the water supply and exploring sustainable solutions to prevent such disruptions in the future.

As the situation unfolds, one thing is clear: the people of Idu and surrounding villages deserve access to clean, reliable water.

Tell your governors in Mkpurumini region to do that.

As of today, no single industry in your Mkpurumini Biafla.

Why do we keep having this problem all over Nigeria?

Why don't the government prosecute those that sold the land to them knowing that the place have been marked for road construction according to government plan?

Each time government just settles the owner and move on, there is no deterrent for the government officials that made it possible for them to built residential houses there. Even if it was past government charge them to court and recover as much as the government can from such officials and let them serve term if possible.

As long as each successive government does nothing to them, this nonsense will keep happening.

Do you think federal government won't provide them a good compensation to go with and provided them with a site to build on, probably in that same community. You are now saying if the community don't want the road.. dey play. Who own the community, you go tell me.

Three months given to them to relocate? That duration is way too short.
I believe the residents don't trust the government to fulfill her promise of compensation hence their refusal to relocate.
A round table talk should be initiated once again.

Pray when you enter public service you don't meet poor people as ur subjects, if not you'll share tears. Those guys are witches, they don't like progress and light. Even if you give them 3yrs they'll complain.

Just zero and harden your heart as a leader, value their properties and offer them its true value and give them time, when the time ellapses, go there and clear anything standing.

If not the harden hear El-Rufai used handle Abuja then, we wouldn't have been enjoying the serenity we are experiencing in Abuja today.

All these things are already spelt out on the City's Master Plan. That road you are seeing from Shehu Shagari Way cutting through Asokoro to Eagles Square-CBD, and Maitama will go all the way through Yemi Osinbajo Blvd in Katampe, Jahi, and with a flyover at Gilmor Junction, then further to Gwarinpa on 2nd Avenue (Wole Soyinka Way).
Wike is only doing what past ministers did not do, simply because time and development has made it expedient for such public infrastructure.
Residents of Jahi 2 village especially and others on this very route, just get prepared ahead of time. You can never defeat the FG when it comes to issues of overriding public interest.
