Honestly, that "infinite" is something that I cannot just imagine. Like it has no ends or boundaries. We just know as much as we have been able to see or explore, with a much larger part that we do not know yet.

Antarctica is inhabitable is the reason. Same as the North Pole region, extremely inhabitable. Even certain Northern parts of Canada, close to the North Pole, no one goes there, lest you die from lack of food so so soon. And in which case, they'd need depend on other countries. So, what's the point of fighting over Antarctica when it's not as if penguins are gold.

The North Pole has oil, lots of oil, the countries with stake to it (Norway, Russia, Canada, etc.) are still scooping their own fossils talk more of exploring the North Pole.

The South pole is rather useless for human habitation and has no spectacular resource. Period!

Earth will always be our home, as old as 4.5 billion years old, it has sustained all that has lived, all that we know and beyond.

We have yet to visit another planet, so it's a bit unclear when you say earth isn't our final home.

That said, I'm a big fan of space exploration and I hope plans to terraform Mars are realistic and achievable in the near future.

We're going to become interplanetary species. It's only a matter of time.
With a breakthrough in quantum computing and nuclear fusion, everything else falls in place.
I hope we get to witness part of it in our time the same way people witnessed the moon landings.
