A Nigerian man has expressed shock at the unusually empty state of ShopRite at Silverbird on a Saturday afternoon. He didn’t expect the mall to be so deserted, with only a few shoppers trickling in. This, he says, raises serious concerns about the true condition of the Nigerian economy.
He noted that Saturday afternoons are typically when families flock to malls to shop.

However, due to the current economic situation in the country, only one till was operating out of several available in the mall. He pointed out that this stark emptiness reflects the harsh reality of the economy, as many people can no longer afford the basic items they once eagerly came to buy.

The video capturing this scene has since gone viral, sparking widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing deep concern over the state of the economy.

Watch the video and share your thoughts in the comments.

But the market is filled with people buying and selling.

How many Nigerians use Shoprite?

How do we even know where or when he is filming that thing?

Are you it’s not the SHOPRITE In Abakiliki or Awka that he’s filming from, and claiming Silverbird?

Shameless as usual , you have forgotten the long lines that was a feature at ShopRite under PDP? ShopRite can't even stock goods again because Tinubu has destroyed the economy

Where is your video proof of this? 🤔

2. You could always make a video of your own revealing how the ShopRite in your own part of the country is a lot better than his. undecided

You’re such a simpleton.

Was it only one person you saw in the market buying, or your head is not correct?

Mumu. That is barely 3 billion dollars to help cushion the effects.

The normal annual subsidy bill was over 10 billion US dollars!

This is what we are trying to explain to you guys!

You should even be PRAISING Tinubu for allowing a little bit of cushion effect.

How's this about Obi?
The economy isn't doing well and it's affecting the people including you. Aren't there policies and acts of government that can actually lessen the pain of the masses?
You are not paying subsidies yet debts continue to go up.
Let's take it easy with defending these people. They care about their own children and don't give a fvck about you. The same goes for those thinking Obi would do better. For two years now since Tinubu got there nothing has been achieved on better electricity supply, healthcare or education... Inflation still up and insecurity and debt still bad

So tell us without insults, what was bad before that has gotten better in the two years since BAT got there or are you just ing him blindly?

ShopRite don cast for Lagos. It's more of a tourist attraction than shopping. You can just go for window shopping there and go home

How can you sit in ONE PLACE and say nothing is improving in Nigeria?

Are you aware that the states’ monthly allocation has increased 4 or 5 fold since the removal of subsidies?

Are you aware that EVERY STATE is now a construction site in Nigeria?

Are you aware that the STATES receive 60% of the annual budgetary allocation?

Why do you all IGNORE your state governors and local govt officials who get all these millions of dollars every month from the FG?

The states have autonomy to generate their own power, build their infrastructure, harness their resources etc. So…?

Your focus should be on THEM, your local leaders, not on Tinubu or “Nigeria”.

You are LOST in your own backyard, your state, yet you are talking about “Nigeria”.

Buhari overborrowed and wrecked the economy. If you wanted to complain, it should have been then.

Since, 2015, I knew the economy was finished.

I also predicted that Trump would ruin the US economy before he took office. This is now obvious. The US should be in an economic depression by early next year if his tariff policies aren't completely reversed. His mass deportation policies are causing havoc in the farming and agricultural sectors due to worker shortage as migrants are scared of showing up for work and getting deported.

The economy is not friendly at all.

Those malams selling noodles and eggs in my area have closed thier shops due to low/poor patronage.

Many of them have diversified into shoe maker, fruit sellers etc.

I dont pity most of them because they all voted for balablu due to Muslim-muslim ticket.
