How many times did you do your NIN? 8 times?

I have always insisted that Nigeria's population is grossly overestimated
If after all the enrollment surge that was occasioned by NIN-SIM linkage that even foreigners from Niger, Chad, Benin were ing as Nigerians, total figure is a paltry 118m not even close to half of our projected 250m population, then it's obvious that we might not even be up to 200m in the final run.

As at the last count, INEC database had 94m Nigerians and even that still contains foreigners.

So how is the 250m claim justified in the midst of these figures?

What are you talking about. I'm even shocked to see that up to 118m have ed. Considering the fact that most of them are educated or semi-educated people of 16 years and above residing in urban centers.

This means that actual Nigerian population will be above 250 million people.

You have little knowledge of statistics. About 60% of people in the rural areas do not have NIN.

Look at it this way:

In the North, only the Man is allowed to have BVN, that means a state like kastina that has 4.1 million will almost have double.
Then there are the old that were not educated or those over the age of 70 that hasn't been captured.
Then we have those who feel they don't need it because of the present of Opay and the likes.

Now children between the aga of 1 and 16.1 (media age) constitute over 46% that means over 50 million children and counting.

You can see I am not taking the statistics at face value because I am being conservative.

If I want to use direct estimate based on the data:

—18+ people who are eligible for NIN are like 52.17%
— Then < 18+ percentage will be like 47.83%

If you do the calculations, total population will be at 226million people based on the 118m NIN numbers.

Are you arguing my calculations?
It is not correct. Nigeria's population has about 58% above 18 not 52%
If we are to go with the argument that NIN captures people who are 16 and above, then about 60% of the population will be captured already. Note that this figure of 118m includes the dead as well since capturing began in 2007. Also, we have foreigners with NIN. If we factor the two above, the population of Nigeria will not even be up to 200m

No NiN for kids of below the ages of 15. In mfact, most educated kids only go for it when the appraoch jamb and waec exam stage. What happens to the uneducated ones who are not taking jamb or waec? What about below age of eight who form one-third of the population? 118m is a strong figure and be close to 200m when the uned are included.
I don't think the bolden is true o, I have seen kids younger than 15, I even saw 4 year old do it cos they needed it to applyfor international port.

Nope they can’t be 52%. The 15 - 65+ age group already includes 15 - 17 age group and you need to subtract that percentage from the numbers. That was why I used 6% to represent that difference and subtract from it.

If we are to go with the argument that NIN captures people who are 16 and above, then about 60% of the population will be captured already. I did not tell you NIN capture 16 and above. I thought NIN only allow 18+ years to , I might be wrong if you’re now claiming the requirement is 16 years.

How many percentage of that 118M are dead people? Just as you have foreigners with NIN, you also have Nigeria diaspora without NIN. I don’t have any NIN number, the only one I have is BVN.

So the number of diaspora Nigerians without NIN will cancel the number of foreigners with NIN and we will still have huge difference. So what are you talking about?

Same thing, NIN, BVN, there women are not allowed outside to interact, even during census, they are not physically counted, the man just tell whoever came how many people lives in the house and they record.

There are some progressive educated few, 70% of the household is exactly what I described.

This is not speculation, I served in the North so I am 100% sure of what I mean.

The total population includes home and abroad. Check the population of Nigerians in diaspora (illegal immigrants not included)

No wonder many of you display ignorance on topics you don't know. Ordinary level geography textbook will educate you on why it's no brainer on why a country like Nigeria has most of its population under 16 years.

Many of you skipped good education but now want to criticize people who are more informed and educated than you on subjects that you are intellectually deficient at. Smh

I understand your narration but I am just trying to let you see why Nigeria population might indeed be 200m +.

If NIN only allow you once and then 18 - 65+ number of people with NIN is already 118million, if you factor in the rest of the adult population without NIN and the rest of the <18 years population, then we might be looking at 200m+ population size.

My kids has NIN and the oldest is 12 years old
Your children can not get port or bank without NIN,only the BVN is 18yrs and above
Nigeria population should be around 250 million if 119 million could get NIN,because 60% of my workers from Benue doesn’t have NIN,most kids and old people does not have it

You are right. Even new born baby can get NIN, but they won’t just get the card until 16.

Just that the issue here is that only few percentage of minor will have NIN. People usually don’t get it if there is no need for it.

You know is just my personal opinion and is not the fact. Getting the correct statistics in that country Is hard. Everything is being manipulated for political gain. E.g they use the census to allocate wards in local government. I Ilawe and ogotun in Ekiti, they are of the same size physically and population wise, but Ilawe used to have one maverick politician then, Olowoporoku, he influenced Ilawe population so high during 1992 census, Ilawe had 7 wards and Ogotun 2 wards. Imagine how those northern desert state always inflate their population to get more wards, local governments and more allocations.

You dont even know anything. Statistical figures remain with the federal government. They'd never tell you the actual number of enrolles, same way they'd never reveal the actual population figures to the world.

As at 2021, Nigerian banks had 122.3 million active customers. I'm not even talking of opay, palmpay, monie point, etc. None of these customers would have an without having both the bvn and NIN. Btw 2021 and now, you can imagine the figure. Again, there are students who aren't keeping bank s but have NINs.
There are millions in the various villages who don't have bank s as well.

As of last year, the number of active gsm subscribers was estimated at 219m. Can they have a line without the NIN? How will the line be activated? These are the people from 18yrs (adult) and above. We have millions who are below this age bracket. Not everyone in the villages have NIN or educated enough to have one

Average adult has 2 to 3 s and they will still count as 3 s opening not one.
The total number of Bank Verification Numbers issued in Nigeria climbed to 64.8 million in January 2025, marking a 2.14 per cent increase from the 63.5 million recorded at the end of 2024.

The flaw of our census process is ease of participation.
If you make it easier for people to in Kano, they will.
And if you make it harder for people in Abia to , they wouldn't.
when Jega changed the voting patterns during GEJ? That's when the fraud became worst.
Someone has to figure out how to access the inaccessible for the census to make sense.
