Good evening everyone and the gurus in the house. I am here again. It's now 2years after my visitor visa to go see my wife and daughter in UK was refused. Thankfully, there is a new development as my wife has finally gotten her ILR, which means she can now file for me to her in UK. Before i go ahead with my questions, let me give you a bit of background story about my immigration history. I was removed from UK in 2010( overstayed my visa). My ex wife and daughter lived in Uk (now in Nigeria for 2years to receive medical treatment).

Back to my questions;

1, when applying for my spouse visa, what do i say to ECO regarding my daughter as i don't intend going with her until i get to UK?

2, Regarding my removal in 2010, would it affect my visa being granted and/ or what do i need to say to the ECO to pardon/ignore my immigration history?

3, Is a cover letter/introduction letter/ SOP needed to my application?

Hello Everyone,Please is there anyone that did he's or her biometrics on the 15 of April 2025..Any Update yet Please.

I did on the 17th. I can't wait to have my port back. Need it for another trip.

I guess the public holidays may extend processing time. Both the Easter holidays and Workers day.

Hi Everyone,
This the 3rd time they will be rejecting my mom's visa , I can't take it anymore I'm tired already. At this junction I don't care how much it will cost me I just need someone that can handle this application for me and treat all this refusal issues. I really do want her to come visit UK even if na once
If there's anybody here that is a pro in handling this kind of situation please let me know. I'm ready to pay for the service.
Find the 3rd refusal reason below. I didn't inflate my UK bank statement, it was just my salary entering my and my weekly extra shift salary

This looks so much like the ECO was just shopping around for what to use to turn down the application.

How can you say presence of her Son, daughter in law and grand child holds more significance for her to stay put in the UK than her other 2 daughters.

Now, when multiple credits are flagged in applicant's , ECO usually say "credits not from your employer with origins unknown, but this one conveniently was not explicit, just said "was used to inflate ."

Also, did you indeed omit your mum's statement? We have even seen a number of people being sponsored that didn't drop their statement and which came out successful.

The thing I suspect is that those ECOs are probably overworked and always prefer to play safe by rejecting applications instead of putting in the work to provide justification for approving such.

And they are generally biased against people with prior refusal.

I didn't include her own bank statement because In the first visa application we did, her bank statement was part of the refusal reason.

About my own bank statement, the credit alert there was my salary which is the monthly own and my weekly salary from another employer.

I'm so sorry about this. I truly feel your pain.

My thoughts:

1. You need to stop applying for the visa for a while - at least one year. I know you really want to see your Mum but three refusals back to back is a big deal and you need to plan strategically before she reapplies.

2. It does appear that the visa officer was looking for a reason to deny the visa - and he/she found a few minor reasons (that should ordinarily be overlooked).

3. From what I see, one major mistake I think you made was not including her own statement of . Yes, I know it was a reason for a previous refusal but still, you should have included her own statement of - with every single deposit explained.

4. I note that your Mum is retired. However, she did not state that she has any savings. I don't know what she did before she retired but I find it hard to believe that she does not have any savings. It is a major red flag as it does appear that she is financially dependent on you. And if she is, it is easier and better for her to stay with you in the UK. That is how the visa officers think. Yes, you can be retired. But surely, you saved some money all those years you were working. That is how they think.

5. Your sponsorship with 3,000 is too much. I assume you will provide accomodation and feeding, then about 1,500 is enough. That is for her ticket and some shopping money. I know that was not a reason for the refusal but all these little details add up. Sometimes, they don't even state all the reasons for the refusal - and then bring it up as a reason for refusal in the next application (meanwhile stating that each application is looked at differently. Big lie. The fact is: a previous refusal will impact a future application)

6. If you work two jobs and need to sponsor your Mum, then you need to get the wages for the second job paid into another . I don't know if that is possible but I would highly recommend that

7. I have helped people with very difficult cases - free. Please note that I do not claim to be an expert. However, based on my experience(s) and divine wisdom, I have successfully helped others. It is my own form of CSR and I'm not doing this for money. I just want to help. I'm ready to help you with your Mum's next application and I will not accept any form of payment. However, if I am to help you, I would need you to be totally honest with me and to please wait this year out and apply early next year. When you are ready, we can communicate outside this platform. You will provide your email address and I will you. I no longer share my details as it was abused in the past and I need to be security conscious.

Kindly let us know how you wish to proceed.

2, Regarding my removal in 2010, would it affect my visa being granted and/ or what do i need to say to the ECO to pardon/ignore my immigration history? - Well, if you were banned and you have served the ban, then you have been technically forgiven. I hope it was not a lifetime ban. The maximum I have heard is 10 years. You don't need to say anything. They have all your history. Your immigration history cannot be ignored. It is something you have to live with but know that once you have served your ban, they are willing to give you another chance. If you wish, you can write a letter to apologize for your past misdemeanor and reiterate that you have learnt your lesson and you are now a law abiding citizen and have remained law abiding since your return to Nigeria.

3, Is a cover letter/introduction letter/ SOP needed to my application? - You can add a cover later as I stated above. Good luck!

Sorry, but that was a big red flag. They'll check the previous application and see the reasons. Now, for not including it, they'll assume you want to play smart and hide things.

The UK application requires patience and painstaking planning after previous refusals.

So instead of keeping mummy's statement aside after her last refusal, you guys should have started preparing for this one by ensuring her is clean of any other credit asides her pension, since you said she's retired. All other transactions should be done with another .

With that ommission, I doubt this refusal can be successfully challenged.

So just start planning for next application. I believe 6 months should be sufficient. Keep her clean and also build your own personal savings consistently.

During the application, dwell on her social and economic ties here in Nigeria with documents and pictures. Religious activities, neighbourhood activities, social group activities, family duties and responsibilities to immediate and extended family here in Naija, etc

You also should put out a compelling cover letter explaining that it is more economical for her to visit your young family over there than your entire family coming over to Naija with a young baby.

Try and put this behind you and look positively ahead.

quote author=Knowlegeseeking post=135183944]Same issue with my mum's application which just came in today. second refusal. The first was in November 2023 inviting her and my twin for my graduation. My twin was her sponsor and she was only refused because my twin was refused. My twin applied again last October and got his visa. Came last December 2024, spent 3 weeks and went back to Nigeria. Re-applied for my mum earlier this month and just got another rejection for her with 2 flimsy excuses.

1. You state that you are Unemployed have no other source of income. In consideration of your family ties I note the statements made by you in your visa application whereby you mention there are no remaining dependants in your home country. This, in conjunction with the concerns relating to your economic ties stated above, gives me reason to further doubt that you will depart the UK at the end of the period stated by you.

First, in her application, we never stated unemployed. My mum is a retired civil servant of Lagos which we stated attaching all her employment letters, promotion letters to level 17 and retirement letter. We also attached her landed properties including the one she resides in, bank statement showing pension income and rental income from her properties and additional income she receives from us her children, all explained in the cover letter. Nowhere in her application did we state she has no remaining dependants in her home country. Infact, on her cover letter, we stated that she has three other children including my twin who is resident in Nigeria, attaching their port as well.

2. Second reason was "You have indicated that your sponsor will pay £1,500 towards the cost of your trip. In of this you have provided a bank statement from Lloyds Bank ( number ending in 2463) However, the funds are regularly depleted indicating that your sponsor utilises nearly all their income each month. For example, as recently as 27th March 2025 the balance of their was £0.50. I am therefore not satisfied that your sponsor can and will provide you with for the intended duration of your stay. Your application is therefore refused under paragraph V4.3 (c) of the Immigration Rules"

This is another nonsense because the six months bank statement i submitted alongside with six months payslips shows steady savings into my moneybox simple saver and cash ISA s with balance of over 10k pounds (i attached these statements as well). The EO just picked that date out of the 6 months which is ridiculous as that same statement shows a balance of almost 3k balance as at 31 March.

I have drafted a response to send to [email protected] highlighting these discrepancies.

Should i go this route or through PAP? it's okay to refuse an application but not on flimsy excuses that were evidently provided for.

Her Biometrics was done on March 24th.

I also believe that those were flimsy excuses but just want to seek others opinion to see if there is any other I can do better when trying again.

How much was the balance in the of your sponsors?

Where do they live? Rented apartment or theirs?

I am actually the sponsor and the appliocant is my in-law

I had just over 3k pounds in my (3 months bank statement provided) and myself and my wife live in a rented apartment.

My mother in-law lives in her late husband's house and we provided documents for this though the documents were in her late husband's name.

The tone of the refusal mail is based in the sponsors

You need to fix a lot of things

You would do well to get immigration advice from a Uk solicitor as this journey is not usually easy given your immigration history. Secondly is it ex wife or wife?

I would like to make some enquiries regarding my mum's visit visa application. She is a retired state government employee and currently owns a primary and secondary school.

I would like to know what documents she would need to present to prove ownership of the school, considering that school approval in our state doesn't necessarily require CAC registration, and she may not have one.

We would like to prepare everything in advance.

Every paperwork she used to set up a school is her proof of ownership of a school. She should and would know better.

Hello Gurus in the house.
Please I am applying for a UK visitors visa for my mum and in the process of the filling the application, I am not sure of the duration of stay to enter.

For context my mum is looking to stay for about 2 months out of 6 months as I just put to bed but I am not sure the best or most suitable duration to enter on file.

Please any information regarding the process is welcome.

They sent you an email when you booked your appointment. It lists the documents you should take.

If I correctly, the only two things you need to take are your port and appointment confirmation letter.

Document checklist and photocopy of port data page used to be required by TLS, but VFS didn’t need them for biometrics. You can take them anyways, just to be safe.

In my opinion, I’d advise you don’t put two months on the application form. Two to three weeks is fine. Maybe a month, max. When she successfully gets the visa (and crosses the border), she can spend two months.
