REUBEN010:
I grow red scotch bonnet pepper (rodo) but mine is a heirloom OPV I bought from a local farmer over here. I have been replanting the seeds for the past 4years and have been getting good results.

Can I also get seeds from you or the farmer

I get your point. I have some Carolina Reaper seeds and I would like to collaborate with a pepper farm to see if this can be grown in Nigeria.

I am interested in this

Hello everyone. I want to plant red pepper. Ata rodo type. I need advice on which seed to buy. Is it etna f1, efia, piquante red, anticilllias etc. Please recommend base on experience. Thanks.

It depends on your market. Your market might be rigid in the kind of pepper they buy or flexible. That's your first homework.

Many farmers on Nairaland has commended the goat meat aroma of Piquante Red F1. I'm also planning on planting the same seed. Initially I wanted to plant Rijk Zwan's Loleza F1 and Mawenzili F1 but their price tag is a bit steep.

For me, market determines the variety of crop I cultivate. I prefer cultivating crops that have existing demand in my selected market to avoid stories that touches the kidney and lungs after a successful hectic production.

Interested in your rodo seedlings... 0seven088sixty28thirtysix

Piquante red/yellow has low resistance to mosaic disease. That plant na ajebo plant. Guide it jealously.
It's a good plant with good production but susceptible to sucking insects viral issues.

The little I planted are all showing signs of mosaic. What a pity. Pls which one is resistant to those viral issues?

Some are more tolerant but more expensive. Super habanero, mawenzili and the cheaper ones like OPV antillais from technisem doesn't have issues with mosaic and can produce for more than a year .

Some are more tolerant but not wholly resistant. Super habanero, mawenzili can tolerate mosaic to a level but OPV varieties like antillais from technisem doesn't have issues with mosaic and can produce for more than a year .

I'm not used to those names for Pepper varieties

What I do is tell local seedlings sellers I need a particular type of pepper

if I buy and cultivate it will come out well

Alternatively, after buying pepper I dry the seed and cultivate, more like a local way of production.

I tried buying and drying the seeds. But during harvest they were very tiny. Probably f1 varieties
