Thank you so much for the .

Sent out my PAP last night including additional documents like my dads utility bill and drivers license both carrying his address also additional bank statements clearing out any doubt of it's authenticity.

Hopefully, that suffices. Will try to collect my port today as I need it to travel on saturday.
volticvox:
First of all, sorry about the refusal. It is frustrating to say the least.

In my opinion, these refusal reasons do not hold so much weight and you potentially have a good case to send the Home Office a complaint challenging both reasons.

For reason 1, people change addresses every time and they forget to update their bank s to reflect that sometimes. As it is, the ECO did not question or declare your bank statement as fraudulent/fake. They actually acknowledged its authenticity. Now, the burden of proof rests on you to confirm that you are the owner of the . If you have anything to show when you opened the or even to prove that the address on the statement is your dad’s address, then I suggest you get these documents together, and send in a complaint challenging the first refusal reason.

For reason 2, if indeed your opening balance is what they question, and not a huge deposit that appears in the first month of your bank statement, I suggest you counter this reason by proving that you have always been in possession of the stated amount. People can build their bank s overtime, so I suggest that you furnish your claim with historical bank statements of up to a year to prove that the money is indeed yours and it has naturally accrued. As long as the statements are clean and devoid of any large unexplained sums, attach as evidence in the same complaint email.

This is only a suggestion and you can choose to make an attempt on it, or make a fresh application, but including sufficient evidence addressing all the reasons for the previous rejection.

Just my two cents!

P.s. another thing to think about is whether your application was refused due to your immigration history. That point was highlighted as one of the things considered in your case.

champagne00: 8:29am On May 08
If Kenya counts, yes, I do and went for work.

I have my US appointment on Monday, hopefully that works out. Many thanks.

Cashmadam:

Sorry about the refusal.

The point on address doesn't make sense to me honestly. The visa officer was just fishing for a reason - any reason.

Same thing for point on opening balance.

Do you have any travel history? If you don't try schengen or US visa. For now, they are not so strict on what goes in and out of your like the UK. Use them to build your travel history.

As for this refusal, I'm honestly trying to understand the reasons for the refusal. They do not make sense to me.

Hello,

Can anyone point me to where I can get a summary on how one can apply for a visit visa and basic requirements.

God bless.
volticvox: 2:36pm On May 08
Sorry for the refusal.

Again, this refusal holds no weight. In fact, the ECO did not give any cogent reason as to why your application was denied. A third refusal means that they have low confidence in your profile. They are dancing round the circle to ensure you are not approved. Maybe they are skeptical because you have not demonstrated familial ties through marriage, children, or even elderly parents. But then, that cannot be everyone’s reality. Maybe you lack travel history to desired countries, but at least you’ve traveled outside Nigeria a few times and back (with Qatar being a very strong economy). If you apply again, it will just lead to another refusal with a different reason. You need to take action somehow. As such, you have a strong case to file a complaint or PAP.

Your gainful employment, ownership of assets and to an extent your travel history are grounds for a good argument. I suggest you send in a complaint demonstrating how this refusal decision is unjust and flawed. Or, you can hit back by sending a PAP (a more complex route and which might take a longer time to resolve). Either ways, this is not a decision to just fold your arms and accept hook, line and sinker. At least try to change the outcome, and if it fails, try visiting the Schengen Area or USA or Canada, before attempting another time.

Hello House,

Please how long does the Nigeria port online renewal process typically take.

For context i currently reside in the Uk and recently applied for my Nigeria port renewal, I also paid an extra fee for online biometric enrolment.

Please any information on the timeframe for this request is welcome.

This is so bland without any specifics. Maybe you are unmarried and they just have a bad feeling about your profile.

This people are probably running short on their quota at this period and have decided to be frugal with their approvals.

I would advise you apply and travel to Schengen at this time and then come later to reapply to the UK. Don't take it to hard on yourself. You kind of did everything right.

This looks like a case where an inexperienced ECO saw that you had been denied twice and immediately concluded that you should be denied again, even before reading your current application.

The ECO quoted your employment situation with your stated salary and expenses. What usually follows is them writing the problem they have with what you have declared, such as an unexplained credit or debit. In this case, nothing extra was said, because there was (probably) nothing to say.

This is very, very unfair. I encourage you to file a complaint with the Home Office as this rejection makes no sense. Either there were other issues which the ECO forgot to mention, or they did a terrible job in deciding your application. Even if the Home Office does not change course and grant you the visa, they might shed more light on what actually went wrong on this application. At least you will know what to do differently if you choose to reapply in the future.

For now, nothing the ECO has said actually helps you understand the problem. It is beyond ridiculous, and a complaint is necessary.

With all these unjust refusals, it seems the Home Office has already started tightening visa approvals for Nigeria as they stated this week. Not funny at all!

Good luck with your US Visa interview! Be confident, don't talk too much and say the truth!

Sorry about your refusal. I note that the visa officer was really fishing for a reason to deny the visa application.

I suggest you leave the UK for now.

The Countries you have visited so far don't add much value to your travel history as far as UK visa officers are concerned.

Try Schengen Countries, US or Canada so that they can have more confidence in you.

The only reason you need to address in your next application is your home ties - family, work and properties being the most obvious home ties.

Good luck!

Funny, got a response last night and it's laughable.

The first reason is my dads address and I do not live with him anymore since I opened the when I got into the university and graduated already, also my dads address was clearly filled in the form for family.

The second reason I do not understand because I have been saving for a long time and when GTBank moved their CBS redeposited my money that's why the opening balance is high, not even for the UK, opening balance is money that you have saved till the point the bank statement started. Plus, I was even transacting on the and the remaining balance was about 3.5KGBP and I said I had 5K GBP in savings so included my salary statement which had $6K and clearly shows my salary coming in and transaction made as well.

I even included different pictures of me and my dad, family (even picture with my aunt that invited me we took when she was in nigeria) also me at my work place because I still traveled there this year.

@Champagnoo sorry for the refusal

Pls where did you applied?

UK Visa Officials have always been stringent for as long as I can (and this is over 30 years).

It is now news due to the increase in the volume of applications and social media.

Again, can we really blame them? Some Nigerians abuse the priviledge and make it more difficult for genuine applicants who just want to travel to the UK for a few weeks and come back home.

Really, it's usually the first visa that is stressful. Thereafter, it becomes easier.

Visa application approved
First time visit, standard application.

Biometric date: 22nd of April, 2025.
Biometric centre: Ikeja
Dispatched via courier- 6th of May, 2025

Documents submitted:
1) Birth certificates (My mum in law, myself and my husband)
2) Her recent pension payslips for six months, her pension was increased three months ago , so i explained in her letter and application.
3) My recent payslips for six months, it was different pay for different months in the payslips because i am on maternity leave so my pay got reduced over the months but i didn’t go beyond the savings for the three months. I didn’t explain
4) My recent three months statement, it showed large lump on the first date so i explained that i closed my Monzo and moved the fund to BOS and i attached evidence with my Monzo email and that they could confirm from both banks. Monthly lump transfer towards the house management from my husband, it was an oversight from us, we should have used another for that. So i explained to them and mentioned the dates and told them it was from my husband and it was towards house management.
5) Her retirement letter
6) Her old promotion letters
7) Her old appointment letter
8 Her port data page, her husband, mine, my husband.
9) Her properties, it was in her name.
10) My tenancy agreement, council tax payment, scottish gas&electricity payments
11) My Old WhatsApp chats with my mother in law
12) My employment letter
13) My COS document
14) Her NIN slip
15) Several pictures of(my baby, she and her husband, both of them and the children with grandchildren, myself with my husband and the baby). I named each picture
16) Invitation letter from me
17) Her personal introduction letter
18) Her husband letter
19) Her marriage certificate
20) Both i and my husband e-visa share codes
21) Both i and my husband BRP cards even though it is no more in use.

I made a mistake when i was filling the form that she does not have a changed name, i explained in her introduction letter that it was an oversight. The proof of funds was 3,800 pounds, i said i will sponsor her with 1,700 pounds for a week and she will stay with us, although she will be staying longer. I said she wants to come and bond with the baby and also attend the baby’s dedication which is true, i mentioned the church name. A big thank you to everyone, i got all the information i needed here.
GIG logistics is a very incompetent company, they messaged my mum in law to come and get her port at the state capital meaning she has to travel. I called them severally, they said they don’t go beyond the capital and they could collect such amount for delivery!
I already wrote bad reviews on their different branches.
