So finally, Trump is all about braggadocio—empty talk and no show
China is not one of those countries that is going to come running to kiss his ugly white a*s

Trump essentially exposed what an incredibly giant China is

It's not that simple bros! The US maintains a terrific of 30% ......while China has a tarrif of 10%.............. The U.S market is not insignificant!

Nah. The tariffs have driven a fair deal with lots of countries. Say what you like, but with China getting over 250 billion trade surplus over the US for the 4th year running, is saying those tariffs were worth it.
Tariffs are paid by the people buy imported goods. The higher the tariffs the higher the cost of imported products

I can bet you that the trade deficit between China and the USA is going keep growing

The US is China's single country largest market. If they were not desperate and the trade war was not really affecting them, they wouldn't have started negotiations with the US. You think China agreed to negotiate because they are very "religious and kind hearted"? The decision to negotiate with the US revealed how desperate they were.

My broda, check well o. Because the last time I checked, Britain (who eventually succumbed to Donald Trump's trade warfare) is not a small country. And China which is now requesting for a peace deal with the US of A is not a small country either.
Britain is normally a toothless bulldog. China did not beg for peace, Trump did.

Common sense says, when it becomes too expensive, people will seek alternatives, ruining the business of the exporter or importer.

Who called for negotiation was it china or US

China had already moved on making deals with many countries to replace US why can't US just moved on the way china has moved on.

Trump only ended up in disgracing US, possibly he thought china will not respond like other countries
Una go just dey come online dey cap nonsense with confidence. Mention two countries that China has made deals with since the tarriff issue started. undecided

English is not that difficult mate. China is saying that after they heeded to the appeals after considering their interest. This means they were not the one that sought out the negotiation as you claimed.
Mr sabi English every person on nairaland, you're wrong sure you still don't know the negotiation favoured the United States more.

You posted a picture alleging China sued for peace and I debunked that using your own picture.

The negotiation favoured US and that's not in dispute.

Trump wins!
This had always been his intention and goal from the outset which was bringing both countries to the negotiation table!
He may not be your most popular president but he simply gets the job done even in the most unorthodox manner!

Lol they are back to where they started again
China continues to export all it's cheap products to America while American industries keeps dieing

He would have entered the negotiation table since the beginning

He did not achieve anything, he just backtracked

You people should calm down, Trump's plan was actually to force China to the negotiation table, and he has achieved that.

So what did the negotiation achieve?
chukxie(m): 1:03am On May 13
China needs the United States the same way the United States needs China. Unfortunately this relationship led to huge trade deficits that favored China leading to the demise of American manufacturing companies. Trump wants to bring back some manufacturing jobs back to America - a step in the right direction but would be hard to achieve because a lot of Americans, like almost everyone else, love cheap Made in China products. Agreed Trump can be arrogant and irrational, but he does mean well for America. Before now, items worth less than $800 sent by post from China to the US were exempted from tax under the De minimis rule. Chinese e-commerce platforms like Shein and Temu and others have become wealthy by exploiting this loophole. Meanwhile every package sent by post from the US to China is taxed irrespective of its cost. So, it was right that DT ended it. From the get-go, DT wanted to recalibrate the US - China trade relationship something I think he's partly succeeded in doing by getting China to lower tariffs across board on America products while the US reciprocates. I'm sure this 90-day reprieve will be welcomed by businesses on both sides that have bled because of the trade war.

China that was running Helter skelter on where to sale it's stock up goods
Do you know that it was the Chinese govt that seriously pushed for this
US made China great in his first tenure now he made them greater. There's inflation in the US. while the tartif effect didn't hit China as Trump anticipated as Chinese suppliers had already started rerouting. At the initial stage it might lessen their profits but they are good in trades and they understand scalability very well. They will make many countries too lazy to manufacture by selling too cheap to them so they can in turn resell to the US which is still a win for China. The funny thing is that they will help those countries put the countries imprint on them as if the goods were made in those countries. While the rich ones will just setup factories in those countries (E.g. Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, etc) just like they did in Trump's first tenure.

That's what Trump and his advisers discovered that made them initiate the trade talks whereas they had been waiting for China to call.

China is the only country that has a control over all supply chains of the goods they produce.
They manipulate their currency to stay below dollars despite being an export driven economy which would have ordinarily placed their currency ahead of others.

Trump has forced negotiations...which is what he wanted
he was so pained that China refused to talk and was taking counter-measure against them.

The big businesses told him there would be empty shelf in winter, so he panicked. Inflation would have done them in.

Forced wetin? The orange clown was the one that reached out to China after they were seeing empty ports and shelf, also the tariffs went back to what it was before after it bankrupted farmers literally achieving nothing

Trump played into the hands of China and lost that US leverage , that’s what you get when you surround yourself with uneducated white folks whose only claim to brilliance is being white
It's actually what you get when you surround yourself with anti china propagandist like Peter Navarro

What is bullying in this case? Helping your country gain more economic leverage is not bullying. I think we as Nigerians are used to accepting anything put before us without criticism and so when we see another leader maneuvering to his country's advantage,we call it "bullying". World trade is not a "tea party". Countries fight to gain advantage over each other. You think China is "kind and comionate"? They'd rather produce for you so you won't bother setting up industries to produce what they are selling to you, like the west. Like the US, China is a world power because they play to their own advantage.
