New Covenant Christian College International, a Pentecostal boarding school in Makurdi, Benue State, is making headlines with an impressive lineup of students who scored over 300 in the 2025 JAMB examinations. Leading the group is Godwin Orzekor with an exceptional score of 368, followed closely by several other high-achieving candidates. But what’s most striking isn’t just the scores, it’s the environment that produced them. NCCCI isn’t your average school. Owned by Rev. Thomas and Dr. Victoria Shikaan, the institution is committed to nurturing both the academic and spiritual lives of its students. With a strong Christian foundation, the school emphasizes moral integrity, spiritual depth, and academic excellence in equal measure. The results speak for themselves. From Chemistry to Commerce, these students have demonstrated mastery and focus—attributes likely honed in a school culture that values discipline, prayer, and hard work. As Nigeria continues to look for models of transformative education, New Covenant Christian College International is showing what’s possible when faith and scholarship go hand in hand. our Telegram Channel /CGWitness

They deserve their flowers. Did you notice that English is their problem? Isn't this a sign that what they could express in science, they don't have sufficient knowledge of English to understand. Someone was asking on the other thread that GoodSpirit: papyjaypaul: 2 Likes |

Tolumiide:Lol, it’s everywhere, it’s not easy to English language like other subject, I am very sure their will be no 90 to 85 in this year English language jamb result. That’s how it has always been since time immemorial, even if you are an English teacher and you write English language in jamb, I am very sure you may not have 70 percent self. Do you know the meaning to all words in life? If you don’t know the meaning, how will you know the opposite in meaning? Comprehension ages is another problem in jamb, you can use all your time to read ages and if you are to answer questions, you will not even understand what that question is asking. They are very lucky, jamb question has been reduced, if it’s the era of 100 English language question and others subject are 50 questions, in fact, they may score very less in that English than what they have here. Opposite in meaning is like 20 questions Nearest in meaning like 20 Comprehension like 15 like 10 These aspects are very hard to . Only lexis and structure, Oral that converts the 45 are those you can use laws of concord for. The rest are luck because once you don’t understand the meaning of the words you can’t answer the questions confidently, you will only guess. Then how many words do you want to know the meaning from millions of English words we have. And the more you cram it the more you forget. Also, if you aren’t in an English speaking environment, you will never hear some words till you die. So, leave their teachers alone. That’s how English has always been. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Tohsynetita1: I got 90% in Jamb English during my time. Most of my classmates also had high scores in English but our scores in Physics reduced our total marks. We did not have a reliable physics teacher. Imagine getting a total of 280 in Jamb with a score of 42 in Physics. I believe teachers play a significant role. Get a better English language teacher for those kids up there and you won't recognize their final scores. |

Tohsynetita1: It's very easy to English. It all depends on your school's system. You say it's difficult based on how you were taught. My school made it compulsory for everyone to English every term. Then in my school, even if you get As in all subjects and fail English, you failed the term. Fail it for 3 , and you repeat the class. You don't have to believe me. I won't give you more details for the sake of my identity. It's over 25 years now and I believe the standard remains high there. We were living dictionaries. We read the Oxford dictionary like a textbook. What you think is impossible in your sphere can be quite possible elsewhere. If only you'll believe we were taught even the Greek and Latin origins of English words. English was water for us but we struggled with physics. 1 Like |

Tohsynetita1: I forgot to mention that the mark for English in my school was 60%. With the way we were taught, we didn't waste time studying English for external exams. I wish I could give you more details. A school where you Must summarize one novel every Saturday. A school where you must write down ten new words with their meanings every day. WAEC and JAMB English was children's food for us. |

Nebes:I don’t say it is not possible, even if I say so. It is rare, Also, which school did you finish from and what year did you do jamb exam? |

Nebes: Please can you mention the name of the school? Was it a boarding school? |
Nebes: 8:20pm On May 13 |
Tohsynetita1: Forget the name of the school. I've told you it's over 2 decades. It is not a public school and it's only for a very select few. Advertising is also not their thing. I now reside in a western country. I've applied some of the principles I learnt to my own children and the native English speakers marvel at the vast array of their vocabulary. The difference is that my Nigerian accent remains identifiable while my kids can switch between the Nigerian accent and that of the native speakers. |
