And if things go as they usually do in this country, those troops may eventually turn against the people in the communities around those forests... rinse and repeat. sad sad
I'm just tired of people tagged with this nature on here. When it comes to women issues, this one hunts every logics(the accurate and the inaccurate) out there to employ. However, when it's an issue about the country, every possible iota of logic escapes from her cerebrum into the wind, and she employs the lack of wit. How do adults, who particularly has access to the internet and tools like Cgpt and Perplexity, even settle down to cook unconfirmed narrative?

How do troops, working assiduously, in the forest deserve this level of ha-te from you people sef? How can you tell they actually go against the communities they protect? You have a first–hand experience of this or just swirling rumours atound, as always?

Bro, I tire OO. This person does this all the time as well. Lives in the USA and has literally 50 million post here all dedicated to delivering negatives about Nigerians and Nigeria.

The move is a great move. When you see people who first go looking for negative, and overlooked the far weightier and game-changing positive, then know you are dealing with those terrible unhappy with their lives and existence. They don't like progress and happiness for others. They want everyone wallowing in depression, doom and gnoom as they are.

Taking back our forest will be a fatal blow to terrorist, bandits and kidnappers because it is their home, fortress and base of operation that, till now, they believed will never breached.

I like what Tinubu is doing and he promised all we are seeing during campaigning for those who cared to listen. The man is not talking much, because he knows such attracts saboteurs and enemies of Nigeria's progress, but he is enabling and allowing progressive Nigerians to make what they will of the power he is giving them.

Local Goveenment autonomy is a great initiative .

Development commission foe every region is massive because States if serious regions have no excuse not to unite and use their combined might, financial and human, to foster Development.

Ditto Forest gaurds of 2000 to 5000 per State which, by the way, is a serious and impressive number for serious States.

Again PBAT has enabled and put States, especially those in very troubled regions like North central, North East etal in charge of a crucial aspect of their own security. "Heavily armed' and "well-trained" are announcement I like. 2000 forest gaurds x 36 States , plus the FTC, is 74,000 forst gaurds .

This is a move that will change the dynamics of security in Nigeria for States that are serious about improving security of lives and property leading to improved socio-economic growth for Nigeria.

Serious States should be ready to be up and doing. Unserious States will deserve any failure and worsening security they get. Tinubu is working towards a "make your bed and lay in it" Nigeria. Rightly so.

Once States have adequate powers over their own security architecture then States that love insecurity terrorism and banditry, as a way life, should enjoy some on their own.
Osanoghodua1: 7:00am On May 16
Let them have heavy weapons like the military. And they should be well trained like the military not regular police, give them bullet proof cars. I think State police us better than this.
JaskanFactor: 7:01am On May 16
this is to protect and deny Nigerians access to forest not to tackle the plague of civil servant terrorists, cause all the animals and the forest life is more valuable to them than the life of Africans.

If this was about national security they already have army and police, Forest guard is to keep people out of green areas and wildlife they consider more important than people.

Thier target is all the people whose livelihood and business depend on entering the forest.

Maybe they have seen that despite their starvation efforts many people still survive by hunting, well thats about to stop.

Whenever Tinubu does something good and commendable, I applaud him. To be honest, I really applaud this initiative, it's a good step in the right direction.

We Igbos do not hate Bola Tinubu, we only want the best for Nigeria. We want Tinubu to lead Nigeria with honesty, sincerity of purpose and with zero corruption, nepotism and tribalism. If Tinubu does the right thing and makes Nigeria work, honestly I will become his first fan and praisesinger but don't expect me and other Igbos who cherish competence and merit to be praising Tinubu when he is failing just to make Yorubas happy, it doesn't work that way.

Well done Tinubu, please don't let this initiative be an audio one like some things you have embarked on in the past. Make it work, also hasten on the State Police, stop dragging your leg because of your selfish political interest undecided

Continue to live in fools paradise,as if we don't know how many of these ideas has ended up,
Even your conventional security apparatus we know how many have abused their privileges,
Continue to live in ur illusive paradise

Straw man argument. When has Amotekun been know as "abusing and oppressing " those they are supposed to protect? Why can some of you, as adults, not take your example from factual reality we can all see instead of lying shamelessly?

To the greater point, what exactly is "low class people"? Such language indicate you look down on ordinary Nigerians.

The reality is that Nations recruit and conscript professors to bricklayers into their armed forces in times of danger, internal conflict or war.

Nigeria is at war over insecurity even if some of you don't have the adult mindset to note that and prefer continuing your obdurate obsession with giving a Dog a bad name to hang it merely because you have sworn never to like or praise anything about the APC or "Yoruba Government".

This is a great development for those who value security of lives and property plus socio-economic progess. No one is asking you, your brother or father to so spare us your irresponsible negativity.

Amotekun has grown into the best supplementary force to the NPF because Yoruba leaders organised and funded it relatively well while ordinary Yorubas patriotically ed the Corp well in good numbers.

As a Yoruba, givern the success of Amotekun, I am excited at the thought of the improved security and socio-economic prosperity (maximum farming yield and inflow of FDI for example) the clearing of unsavoury elements and criminals in the forests of the region can do for Yoruba land.

Please reject it in your region and carry protest banner dissauding people from ing forest gaurds but don't run to Yoruba land to enjoy improved security and peace when criminals flee our forest for yours that is ungaurded because you have decided to take an emotional and childish outlook over what is a very serious, existential and adult matter.[/quote]

First, they say they are foreigners. Next, they attempted to grab people's ancestral land in the name of ruga/grazing reserve. Then they created a whole ministry as a reward for criminals. Now we're at that stage where we have to use tax payers money to create a seperate security outfit that even Man o War can defeat in the absence of the politics and with the right . I mean, they have done all this hard work, when all that should have been done all this while is the simple work of seeing these criminals for who they are (and not as their ethnic stock) and going full force after them; kill as many as you can, capture few, and prosecute even fewer.

It is becoming embarrassing at this rate the numbers of corners that the FG has had to go through/the number of excuses they have put up because of the group involved. If it were to be another ethnic group, take for instance IPOB, the FG will engage them with our current security forces. Lakurawa have guns, Mahmuda have guns, bandits have guns, Boko Haram have guns, JTF have guns, vigilantes have guns, even cultists. One would think with all the security challenges in the country we would be trying to reduce the number of people who have access to guns but again, it is a face-saving move, so I'm not surprised. The only people I feel sorry for are those who will submit themselves to be their pawn all in the name of forest guard.

I don't know why they cannot accept this simple reality, that has been the state of affair in that entire region since 1999, before they go public with the sanctimonious and dubious claim they vote "merit" the most of all Nigerians.

"Merit" that cannot produce leader capable of turning all States of the SE into El Dorado? Na wa for some folks who just enjoy making megalomaniac claims reality on ground makes a mockery of.

Only a fool resort to demeaning words when intellectuals are talking .

I intentionally cited NPF as example because they take the most hit .

Only a criminal and a person with warped mind will not see the importance of police .

Imagine all the touts ,area boys ,cultists ,thieves etc that exist out there ,now imagine there's no police to tame them ,you won't be able to walk out of your room because of fear of area boys because no one will check their excesses . Even in your home ,you won't be be able to sleep because of fear of constants burglars and armed robbers that will come and attack you in your home .

People will be able to do whatever the fck they want to do because there's no repercussions.

Disparaging the NPF because of their bad behaviours but not accepting their services of keeping law and order is hypocrisy, imagine a world without police ? that's how ridiculous you sound when you said government agencies are not needed .

Or another example is the NA ,imagine all the terrorists and bandits that want to come to you and make you a victim ,the Boko Haram ,Iswap ,bandits ,Fulani herdsmen, foreign enemy army etc ....don't be a joke 🤣 .

Government agencies might not be efficient or 100% perfect but they serve important functions.
