Pressure On Edun To Run As Next Ogun Governor (1420 Views)
(1) Go Down)
OmoOgunOriginal(f): 3:41pm On May 17 |
It's an open secret that Senator Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi, the Chairman Senate Appropriation Committee representing Ogun West is extremely interested in being the next Ogun State Governor and has been working heavily towards it. Using his vantage position in the Senate, he has diverted a lot of the budgets of various agencies and departments of the country to do projects in his senatorial district, and other senatorial districts in the state, much to the indignation of people who see him as an usurper of the role of his fellow federal lawmakers. Many of such people are in Ogun Central. Now, word on the street of Abeokuta is that the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Wale Edun is being pressured by a coalition of politicians and professionals to run for the position of the Ogun State Governor in 2027. Their reasoning is that only Wale Edun can effectively counter the influence that Senator Yayi has in Abuja to clinch the APC guber ticket, aside from former Governor Osoba, who has not displayed his own hands yet. Who do you think will make a better governor between YAYI and Edun? 1 Like 1 Share |

Wale Edun better go and sit down. What's is his political influence in Egba town the clan he comes from before talking of Remo and Ijebu? Philanthropist attributes? I wish him best of luck if he decides to run but people will collect his money sha o 6 Likes 2 Shares |

I think Yayi will make a better governor.

Yayi should shun the idea of contesting for Ogun state governor. We are telling him early now As for Edun, if he has not been playing the local politics before, he should also go and sit down |
helinues: 11:19pm On May 17 |
Raregem9000: You didn't think that through |
Raregem9000(m): 11:28pm On May 17 |
Do you live in Ogun? The question op asked was who do you think will make a better governor between YAYI and Edun? You think Edun will make a better governor than Yayi?

Raregem9000: Both of them have not been playing the Ogun local politics... So they don't both have the chance of becoming the governor. No need of who will be better than each other |
Raregem9000(m): 11:36pm On May 17 |
Lol. Which Ogun local politics did the current governor play before his emergence? Lol.

Raregem9000: You can't compare DA with Yayi or Edun Both Yayi and Edun chose to be playing other places politics while neglecting the politics of Ogun state . Perhaps they realised their ambition to become the governor of where they have been playing their politics is not certain, they now think Ogun is the next option. No.. DA never get involved in Kwara politics |

I think its a good idea so maybe Tinubu can put a better person to than that delicate position.

FreeStuffsNG: Yayi is a grassroot player but Edun would be much better. Yayi is a waste of time in my opinion. Talentless, lacking vision and the innovative mind to take Ogun State where her potential indicates she belongs. He is simply a career politician and will be worse than Abiodun. Ogun State's tragedy of leadership is truly a conundrum given the many ultra-distnguished Nigerians that have come from that State like Obafemi Awolowo, Wole Soyinka etal. |

OmoOgunOriginal: Edun is a lightweight politician in Ogun political terrains.. He has no local structures within d APC . He is just like former VP Osinbajo, both re not reckon with wen it come to ogun politics Tell him to keeps his money |

Raregem9000: Diz actually shows dat u nothing about Ogun politics... who is wale Edun wen it come to Ogun politics... No political base .. no local structure Just tell him to keep his money ... If nt him eyes go clear ... Him closeness to Jagaban can't do it alone ... |

sacajawea: He must mean who Osoba's anointed is. Osoba is 85. He cannot be a candidate. |
helinues: 6:07am On May 18 |
WizardOfNG: Even Osoba can't singlehandedly annoint anyone. The past governors dont command the state, may be their areas |

Starhearts: You may be right about the bolded looking at things from a purely political angle. If we are talking about progress for Ogun State then Edun is way better than those with "local structure". It is the way politics is played in Ogun that is responsible for the condemnable backwardness of the State. A State with far greater potentials than Lagos has virtually not moved even one step forward since 1999 despite her iral human and material resources because the State, beginning with OGD, has been going from one poor/average Governor to another. Ogun State would have benefitted from having a benevolent political godfather who will neutralise those with "local structure" in favour of those who may not be politicians or politically inclined but would make visionary and transformational s. As Tinubu achieved with Fashola, Ambode and now Sanwo-Olu. Edun may be a "lightweight politician" as were Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu, who were not even politicians per se, but he will be better than most of the clowns with "local Structure" deemed "heavyweight politicians". If Ogun continues with playing politics as she always has, the State will stagnate for decades. 1 Like |

helinues: Yes I know. I was just pointing out that the poster meant the candidate Osoba will back formally and not his kingmaking prowess. |
helinues: 6:12am On May 18 |
WizardOfNG: Both Edun and Yayi should go and sit down somewhere. They shouldn't waste their money and time contesting for Ogun state politics. Both of them have been active in outside politics without considering the Ogun local politics, no base nor any meaningful contributions to the growth of the state They should go back to where they are coming from |

Check my comment again bro, I said Yayi will make a better governor than Edun. Who know Edun for here?

Raregem9000: Did he play Kwara politics? Even when he wasn't partaking in Ogun state politics, he was doing something for his Ogun East people. Can same be said about Yayi and Edun? |
WizardOfNG: 7:00am On May 18 |
helinues: Baba, na about who go deliver progress and not loyalty or for those strong in local politics. Being strong at grassroot politics does not mean you will be good at leading a State. Tinubu has proven this, by always ignoring the likes of Obanikoro, Obasa etal, to those who are not politicians at all (like Fashola, Ambode, Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu etal) to carry his vision forward. Obasa, for example, is a Titan of Agege and Lagos politics from even his late teens who has always nursed governorship ambitions. Yet he will be a disaster as Governor in my opinion and I doubt Tinubu will ever him.to become that. Ogun State has sufferd enough since 1999 when all these local champions have held sway but done nothing to elevate the socio-economic status of a State that should actually be competing with Lagos if in the hands of competent s. |
helinues: 7:01am On May 18 |
WizardOfNG: Ogun state politics is different. If they had the mindset of making the difference, we should have been seeing their hands on ground. Why now do they suddenly the state? Let them be governor of the state they have been playing the politics for years. You can see what happened during the Apc primary election involving Osinbajo |
