It's an insult on the people of Ogun state for Sen Yayi to say he wants to become the state governor.

To start with, Yayi chose to play outside politics initially without considering Ogun state local politics.

Yayi represented a constituency in Lagos state for over a decade if I am not mistaken. I actually have no issue with that, but my issue is, if the role of a senator is to oversight the executives,

Why was the Lagos- Ibadan expressway way awarded severally without the contractors doing the job?

Why was the Sango Ota road awarded severally without the contractors doing the job? Even if Yayi wasn't representing Yewa axis when those contracts was awarded, as a Southern senator, he ought to have monitored the progress of the projects

The yewa roads have been in dilapidated situation for only God knows, those who have been representing the area never concerned same as Yayi who used to visit the area once in a while then.

Yayi played his full politics in Lagos state without considering of contributing anything to even the Yewa he wants to claim to be from not to talk of Ogun state as a whole.

Now that his chances in Lagos state as governor have been diminished, he now thinks Ogun state is the best option after how many years of neglection?

What's the relevancy of Obasanjo at his ota farm or his house Infront of Afro grams..

No past governors still have relevancy in the state, not Osoba, Daniel or Amosun

Yayi can't be destined to be Ogun state governor, if he had that plan long time, he would have been doing something about the development of the state in preparation

That's your perceived sentiments. Political opinions are not fixed and so also people's sentiments. I won't be surprised if the one you're against marginally wins!

Unfortunately, outsiders can't understand Ogun state politics.. Outsiders by being outside the state or not knowing how the state politics is being played

This isn't true bro. Even Ogun central politician dey fear this man. You know how many road this man has done outside his constituency? Some people say he's doing it because of his governorship ambition but people don't care. He wanted to help with one road that links sapon to Isabo but they didn't allow him. APC politicians there said he should face his constituency.

Fear Yayi.. hahahaha. Yayi is from minority Yewa axis now. Ogun central and Ogun East have always been voting in the same pattern. Ipokia who is also a minority like Yewa is more closer and play exact politics of Ogun central.

Who is going to fear Yayi ?

What he has been trying to do now in of projects, why is he doing it now when he could have laid the foundation long time.

Well you're right! I'm an outsider truly! But I was in Abeokuta from Daniel to Amosun!

I served in Abeokuta South LG though redeployed from Jalingo.

But that's still a long time ago.

Ogun state politics is unique reason why they have held the most highest political position in Nigeria without much noise. We play it locally

With my observations about Yayi ambition as Ogun state governor, majority of those who have been promoting him are not even from Ogun state which is an imposition.

Even president Tinubu won't put mouth in Ogun state politics in 2027..

What Ogun state need is good house of assembly. If there are good representatives representing their constituency, Ogun state have the potentials

Well, if he plays his cards well, he will get the APC ticket and win well.

The same people from Ogun axis, celebrated his win against Rhodes-Vivour, a Lagos son, for Senate in 2019 are now raising eyebrows that he was a Lagos politician. The same people celebrated Faleke, a Lagos reps from Ekirrin-Ade in Ijumu LGA to be Kogi Deputy Governor. One of my schoolmates now a vuvuzella for Abiodun has been disturbing everyone on sm.

When Abiodun was almost out and he had to push structures to allow him win in 2023, nobody call am. If he isn't a threat yet, nobody will complain.
Understandably Abiodun wouldn't him but overtaking is allowed.
He plays his game to his chest, gets the APC ticket and win cleanly.

Yayi jo.

Is it not in 2023 he become a senator in Ogun state? He's doing fine. If he gets the party ticket, he's going to be the next governor of Ogun state. Some people claimed he can't just come from lagos state to become a senator in Ogun state, he eventually triumphed.

Yayi jo.

All those who celebrated Yayi, Faleke's victory are mostly Lagos based ers/Tinubu's ers.

They are the same promoting Yayi in Ogun state. I even saw a thread this morning talking about the possibility of Wale Edun as Ogun stage governor which to some extent is an imposition. I have no issue with president Tinubu planting his boys in political position, but Ogun state, No

If those who have served outside the state never thought of laying some foundations while playing their politics outside, why now?

What developments have Yayi contributed to Ogun state before the 2023 election?

You can't compare Yewa politics which Yayi got the senatorial ticket from compared to Ogun central or Ogun East.

If not for pdp that is not stable

A ogun central governor and Ogun east deputy governor would beat apc hands down

The only thing that can make apc win is gni or through ballot rigging as usual

If Apc can give GNI their ticket, the noise about Yewa should have a taste could be satisfied. But Yewa fronting Yayi who never contributed towards the development of the state or play the local politics before 2023 election would deny the axis the opportunity of becoming the next Ogun governor.

If the state assembly are not functional, how much more of the LG and the councilors? How many of the state assembly have community projects, something they should be competing with themselves.

If the state assembly , the LG chairmen and the councilors are doing their community based projects regularly, it would ease the stress on the governor.

The biggest local government from Ogun state is actually empty even though it connects with 2 states

Well, new faces are entering the state politics, the time of the oldy is fading away

Why not Ogun State?
He pushed Opeyemi Bamidele in Ekiti?
Tinubu pushed Aregbesola in Osun
He pushed Segun Abraham in Ondo, except that Buhari's people blocked it.

Even Dapo Abiodun was a Lagos boy who stakeholders rejected but Tinubu intervened and pushed him using Oshiomhole as APC National Chair, so what's different with that of Yayi or Edun? Afterall, he imposed another Ogun indigene who is a Lagos boy on 200 million Nigerians but we all celebrated, didn't we?

It's Politics, no people's interests, just personal.

That's exactly what I am saying. Dapo's case is different because he never contested for any political position outside Ogun state. Daniel was brought, same as Amosun. Only Osoba is rooted so far

But you see those who have served other places, they have never been allowed to have a take in Ogun state. The past governors have little relevancy in the state not to talk of outsiders.

Ogun central for example, you can't serve more than 2 for whatever position. Outsiders don't pay attention to that as Ogun stage politics is different.

Talking about Yayi or Edun who have served elsewhere as Ogun state governor is an imposition.

Tibile's viewing is different from the outsiders

Two things for me in Yayi's favour :

1) He is Yewa and it is about time they were allowed to sit at the top table.

2) He has Lagos connections. Ogun state must use it's proximity to Lagos state to full use and those politicians that have Lagos links, as Yayi does, are best placed to do that.

I know home based politicians would not be happy about it but let the people decide to see if their being home based is more important than someone that can latch on to Lagos state to make Ogun more prosperous.
LibertyRep: 9:15am On May 18
There should an end to this practice of importing leaders into Ogun State, this should end with Dapo.

Imagine the ongoing National Sports Festival in the state, the caterers in the state had to protest to the Gov Office citing exclusion and the the preference for Lagos based vendors. Even thr gov himself has not granted any interview in any of the state owned or privately owned media outfits in the state, it is that bad.

The cabinet ministers representing Ogun in this dispensation are also 'imported', Baba!

Anyone who wants to rule a state, should be home grown, ditto for LG Chairmen.

I am not even interested in the governorship candidates in the Ogun governorship race in 2027 but the state assembly . The change should start from there. If the new set can prove differently, they can then eye the governorship position.

Still still, the imported people should return to where they are coming from
