I read a comment on a social media post stating that Yahoo Boys are the major cause or makers of single mothers in Nigeria. Although I'm not a fan of Yahoo boys and completely against it.

I think the major reasons that have produced single mothers among young girls below the age of 25 are:

LAZINESS
GREED
AND DESPERATION

Young ladies are now very lazy to work. They don't want to actively engage themselves in production that's why they will immediately try to get pregnant for a young man out of desperation to PIN the young man down for their survival especially when they meet money miss road men like Yahoo boys and the likes but will later meet their Waterloo.

What's the methodology and the data?

Single mothers have been around since the beginning of humanity, even your forefathers had concubines whom they had children with.

And who knows? maybe if you dig deeper into your ancestral background, you might find that you're the great great great great grandson of one concubine from centuries ago...

Yeah, the wave of single mothers really increased in the 21st century when the m-a-d Ness of feminism was embraced by ignorant ladies. The felt being a single mother will make them classy ladies in the society.

Single mothers produce by marriage are more than it produce by boyfriend-girlfriend.

There are many reasons for high rate of single mothers in Nigeria today:

1. People married for a wrong purpose or reason.

2. The decline in family values.

3. Modernity.
