Complete the story. For me, owning a dog in a rented apartment does not seem bright, unless you are the only occupant on the said property. Personally, I never rented a house where the landlord had a dog.

You should only own dogs or any other animal pet when it's a private property where you live in alone with your family.

What’s even more troubling is how he goes around fabricating stories about me, trying to turn neighbors against me for no other reason than the fact that I refuse to tolerate his nonsense and because I don't give him little money for dash. His behavior is so extreme, I genuinely worry he might go as far as committing arson, thats why I'm always alert watching his every move. Now, he's given me a quit notice simply because I stand up to him and won't be bullied. Living under his roof has become a nightmare.

Study the landlord and your co tenant very well.

Stay in a compound that befit your status, to avoid jealousy

You take the legal way i.e Find a lawyer/go to court if not those people are planning on living there for free... I hate entitled people

It mostly will come out unpleasant,especially those ones who dont have a source of livelihood. All their financial problems would be tied down to the house,by extension , the tenants.

I will tell my story here so others won't fall victim.

Although my spirit told me the landlady will be troublesome, but I thought since I'm a quiet person, I could use some silence when provoked.

My intention was to pay for just one year, study her character, if she's cool headed, then I renew but she insisted I must pay two year pleading that her daughter needs money to go to nysc camp, so I paid.

After three months, trouble started when she pleaded I borrow her money to offset NEPA bill I know nothing of, of course I dodged. Tried some sexual advances at me cus she's a widow, sent her daughters to try as well, brethren, I dodged all the bullets. Then she unleashed her terror. Below are some of the things she did to me;

1. Breaking into my space when I'm not around. Once I've locked my burglary, she'll send her children to tip toe and spoil my locks. I spent lots of money buying padlocks everyday.
2. She offs the tap at intervals, especially when I'm back from work even though I'm not owning her any dime.
3. Since the change over is in her house, She manipulates my current. Having low current all the time. I ended up not using my electronics except fan which has been weakened already.
4. No privacy, she moves about monitoring and listening to my calls.
5. Locks the main gate anytime she likes
6. You dare not buy anything and carry it at her face, she felt like I was intimidating her. The story long I no fit finish am.

But in all, I've learnt never to live in any compound were the landlord or landlady lives, never never never never !!!

Hmmm. It was a bitter experience o. I happen to be an introvert who doesn't mingle with people easily. I prefer to live a private life. From home to office and from office to home. No playing around.

I have friends in the office but once it is the closing time, we depart until we meet the following day. At times, we leave from office to pepper soup and upon leaving the place, we depart until we meet again.

I didn't know that my landlady was watching and studying my way of life and had been discussing this with other landlords around.

One day, she invited vigilantee when I came back from work around 6.00 pm to come and evict me from her house on the premise that l am a ghost. The excuse was that I have spent three years in her house and had never seen anybody moving with me, visiting or playing around with me.

My explanation did not go well with the vigilantee. I was beating and arrested. I have a senior brother who was an Army then (now deceased). When l told him the story and what led to my being beaten, he was seriously furious and annoyed and dispatched his men to the street. Upon seeing a handful of Army in the street, the street was deserted. For two days, my landlady was indoor and could not come out. Other landlords who participated in the incident could not show up.

To cut the story short, they were eventually made to pay for my treatment and my brother advised that I should look for another accommodation elsewhere which I did.

In fact, it was a sad experience o.

My problem started ever since I installed Solar for the comfort of my family... Landlord got envy and evicted me with the excuse that there's no difference between tenant and landlord in his house and that I'm acting as if I'm the landlord. Shey na talk be that?

When rent expires, tenant should move out or renew rent. There is no extension. 12 months is 12 months. The concept of 6 months quit notice applies to non-owing tenants so that it gives them enough time to seek a new place. If their rent expires before the 6 months period, they will have to pay for the extra months used. Afterall, if their rent extends the 6 months period and they move out, the landlord would have to balance them the unused months.

Housing is not free.

I wanted to ignore this thread but let me share my experience with one Mr Ubaemeka in ikorodu,that man is the most terrible person to get as a landlord, and he is supposedly a pastor,let me share my experience.

I was a young man just starting life and corporate work,I got a job that entailed me to move to ikorodu, I rented this place,even though I hardly stay in the house as I return to my family house most times on weekends or whenever I don't go to the office,this man once I step foot into the house,unit have finished,pumping machine will spoil,light will become low current,at a point in time I felt this man was jealous of me as his children are all jobless and seeing a young man going to work everyday was a wonder to him,I can go on and on though but let me not make the post so long

he was owing all of them, but one of the us was collecting daily contribution in the community and the matter became talk of town, i summoned courage to challenge the women opp our house that we were not owning, they told me they dont believe, that how are we so wicked to owe our landlords and we buy cars, dress well etc. until one of them asked me to call the care taker to get to them, the caretaker cleared us but the humiliation my landlord faced for lying against us, now he asked us to pack out of his house

He makes feel as if I am in my father's house for seven years now he didn't increase my flat rent while my co tenant are paying 600k for rent I still pay 220k . I honestly can't imagine the type of favour i am getting from this man. May God bless him
